This is a cool project. Are you currently running this campaign?

I'll be happy to add a few characters from my campaigns but not sure how often I can participate.

That would of course be the “potential trouble” that I was referring to.  Although it may be the name is only copyrighted as pertains to use in a comic book. Not for use in a wiki for a role playing game.

pbemguy got a reaction from Matt the Bruins in Star Trek (The Next Generation): Your favorite episodes?
I like "Second Chances" (s06e24). The concept blew my socks off when I first saw it and I still love it.
Commander Riker comes face to face with an exact duplicate of himself, created years earlier by a transporter phenomenon.

"Tin Man" (s03e20) is also one of my favorites:
Telepath Tam Elbrun (Harry Groener) joins the crew to investigate a bio ship detected near a star about to go supernova. As the crew investigates, the Romulans threaten the Enterprise and the creature, Gomtuu, and Elbrun boards it with Lt. Commander Data.

Honorable mention: "The Outrageous Okona" (s02e04) because of Billy Campbell (didja know he was in the running to play Riker?). And Teri Hatcher is also in it.
As the Federation starship Enterprise, under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, passes through the Coalition of Madena, it detects a small cargo ship, under manual control by its single occupant. The crew makes contact with the pilot, Captain Thadiun Okona (Billy Campbell), who requests help to repair a part on his ship. Captain Picard agrees, and the Enterprise tows Okona's ship while Okona is brought on board. The crew soon finds that Okona has taken a keen interest in the women on the ship, beginning with Transporter Chief Robinson (Teri Hatcher in an uncredited role) and is in no rush to effect repairs.

I also enjoy any Ensign Ro episode. I just really like her character.

For me, the definitive Captain America moment came in Mark Gruenwald's run, during the Scourge of the Underworld story arc. The Water Wizard (fairly obscure villain) finds Cap and takes him to The Bar With No Name, where the Scourge has massacred more than a dozen third-string super-criminals. "You have to be our hero," the Water Wizard says. Even most of the supervillains trust that Cap will do right by them -- now that's a hero!

If we're going to use existing organizations, we might as well be using the existing world rather than building a new one.

We're fine mentioning VIPER etc., but in my mind I think we should be aiming at designing our own villains and organizations. VIPER, like COBRA, is based on snakes. Can we make an evil agency based on something else? (I love VIPER, but the point of the wiki is to make a whole new campaign world!)

I know about the potential trouble with the name but if you call your own premier super team anything but The Champions you’re crazy.
Also using as many of the original team as you can get away with would be a good thing. Marksman is a good way to teach somebody who wants to play a more flexible version of Hawkeye and Titan is a good example of how to build Giant-Man.
As to a location for the base, if you’re firm on the idea of having it be a real world NYC location that everyone is familiar with you have three choices.
    1) Times Square.  Everybody knows the vague layout but nobody west of Albany has a concrete image in their minds.
    2) The World Trade Center.  The depths of bad taste surrounding a Viper attack on the hero’s base astounds even me.  The same goes for the Statue of Liberty island and to a lesser extent Ellis Island.
    3) The winner by default....the Empire State Building!  Famed in song and story. Hangout of giant monkeys and Men of Bronze.  And in the real world...not really doing much.  Easy to find in any tourist map of the city, instantly pictured by the average person.

Strongly worded opinions?  Yeah.   Snap judgements?  I’ll cop to that.    Maybe impossible to get done due to legalities?  Granted.     But tell me they don’t all make sense.

It's time to do a deep think.

Who exactly comes to mind when you say "Avengers"?
    Captain America
    Iron Man
    Thor
    Black Widow
    Steed
    Peel

Ok...if you think about it, Steed and Peel are the United Kingdom television show The Avengers, which has nothing to do with Marvel's Avengers,,,except they did a redesign of Black Widow which made her closer to Miss. Peel.

    So...for some names.
Gentleman Jack: Think John Steed as a superhero in a costume like a British gentleman. Gadget cane and a sharp sense of humor.

...no, nothing like Mister Wicked's cane. Why do you ask.

And I'll call it a day. Let everyone else contribute something.

Think of my stuff as a separate comic book. You can collect the characters in that comic book if you wish. Thoes characters may crossover. The writer may go 'off model' with a character when written by someone else. The character, once published on the wiki, is the property of the wiki, not myself.

Wicked did have a disclaimer at the beginning of the wiki, stating that he might not be everyone's cup of tea.

Cowboy Bebop is really good. For me, anime has always been hard to get into, but for some reason Cowboy Bebop was just amazing. I would argue that it's the most non-anime anime ever. I have tried to watch several recommended anime series but couldn't get past the first 10 minutes. Ever. But then I heard that Firefly was basically stolen from Cowboy Bebop, so I gave it a try.

(I would say that Firefly did not steal from Cowboy Bebop, in my final analysis. But I am grateful that the accusations led me to this great series.)

I can't put my finger on what makes it special. I'd love for you to watch two episodes and post here what it is that makes it unique, cuz I haven't been able to puzzle that out. To me, it just feels like it knows what it's doing. Like, there's a confidence in the series and a genuine feeling of satisfaction from watching every episode. Plus, you grow to love the feeling of being in that universe--that elusive escapist experience definitely exists for me in Cowboy Bebop.

I also want to say that the characters seem very developed. I bet if you approached the writer and threw a hypothetical situation at him, he'd immediately just know how the characters would respond. The characters seem very well-drawn I guess is what I'm getting at.

It reminded me in some respects of Gatchaman/Battle of the Planets taken to the next level by a really smart writer.

The original Teen Titans series borrowed a lot from Cowboy Bebop, not directly but...aesthetically is what I think I mean. If you liked the original Teen Titans you'd probably love Cowboy Bebop.

Thank you. What I been contributing is basically stuff which I contribute to the bulitan board already. Many of it seems to be lost in time (especially Jet Justice). The best I can do for my efforts in the past are to link it to the wiki post.

And I don't think I'm monopoly this wiki. Eventually I'll run out of stuff I can recover. Which is ok. Then everyone else can catch up.

Here are my updated versions of Solitaire (Elaine King) from Champions 4th Edition and Solitaire (Shannon Havelock) from Champions: The New Millennium for 6th Edition. They are what I considered "experienced" versions of the character, as the original stats were "rookie" versions, with an updated design for each. Included are the Hero Designer files, Adobe PDF,  and Microsoft Word versions in case you want to make some changes for your campaign.

This is my interpretation/updated version of the character Flare introduced in the League of Champions comic book series decades ago and featured in the cover art of various early Champions RPG books. Special thanks to Hero forum members pblemguy for referring me to the post where fan contributors worked on the character write-ups of these "old-school" characters and Cassandra, since her write-up of Flare served as my starting point. 🙂

She is at 425 points, which is the equivalent of what I would refer to as an, "Experienced" version in terms of the HeroClix frame of reference (i.e. Rookie, Experienced, Veteran).

Well anime is a pretty wide field with all kinds of storylines and visual presentations.  There are a lot of them that I really enjoyed, but for everyone I did there are four or five I couldn't stand.

Most of the stuff yiu find readily available falls into what I call Pop Anime.  Like Pop music, it consists of the anime currently popular in anime mainstream.  Many of which i personally don't like.

I really enjoyed Cowboy Bebop and now that you have reminded me I will watch it again.

You said you couldn't put a finger on exactly why you liked it, so I won't ask.  But if you like CB you may like Black Lagoon or MadLax. They are not sci-fi, more like 80s mercenary on an anime earth.  But good character development and action.  They are also not trendy pop anime.

pbemguy reacted to Scott Ruggels in 3D-Printed Guns
I do both firearms and 3D printing. There are a number of ways to 3D print such as FDM, (Filament Deposit Method), DLP, and various laser and powdered
metal techniques. Generally, you would run into three types of 3D printed guns.

The first is the glorified Zip Gun. This will be a 3D printed frame holding together an assortment of Hardware store parts and pieces to perform the task of putting a projectile down range with a minimum of cost and accuracy. failures tend to result in the gun either failing to fire, or a detonation in one’s hand. I’d say a -1 OCV, and takes a full phase to Unload and reload. They tend to be single shot and in rare cases, double barreled and are usually ambush or intimidation weapons.

The second are plastic printed frames to hold together ‘deactivated’ parts kits, or non- controlled gun parts into a working firearm. These take a bit more skill to assemble but produce field ready results. The designs are iterative, so they get better over time. They will be unserialized “ghost guns”. Failures On these will be misfires and parts breakages due to heat and wear (stretching). 3D printed plastics are heat sensitive unless you have specialized equipment, but hobbyist printers can perform the work with the necessary precision and materials to make the firearm work. There is aa active community trading tips and help to improve designs and testing.

The third type is using industrial metal printers to print firearms. Pieces like chambers and barrels, springs and fasteners are produced using traditional industrial methods, but the metal printers can produce finished parts without voids
or serious internal flaws. The machines are prohibitively expensive, and the companies that produce them do not want them used in arms manufacturing, but the files to do so are freely traded. No telling what might be produced natter hours at an Aerospace factory. Failures from this type are the same for a standard firearm.

    Hope this helps.

pbemguy reacted to fdw3773 in Stats for Champions in Eclipse Comics?
Many years ago, I remember Eclipse Comics publishing Champions comic book series that featured Marksman, Flare, Icestar, Giant, Rose a.k.a. Psyche, and a small host of other heroes and villains featured in the early RPG versions. I recall one the interesting features was that at the end of the issue, a character writeup was featured with complete stats of a character from the series.

Were these character stats ever published in a Hero Games product? If so, are they available as a PDF for purchase and download? I first got into Champions with third edition, and even though I picked up an old Champions sourcebook here and there from second edition (e.g. Champions II and III), I never came across a consolidated list of character writeups for them. By fourth edition and beyond, a different set of characters had been established (e.g. Defender, Quantum, Seeker, etc.)

Humm...can Champions Now be one of these 'editions' of Champions we could convert characters to? If so, we have...

    Champions 1ed.
    Champions 2ed
    Champions 3ed.
    Champions 4ed (bks the BBB).
    Fusion Full. (Champions New Generation).
Fusion Light (DragonBall Z, Usagi Yojimbo rpg).
    Champions 5ed (FrED. REFrED.)
    Champions 6ed.
    Champions Now!

That is nine separate editions. We can probably ignore Fusion and Champions Now, which of course leaves 6 editions.
