  1. Re: Secret IDs: In or Out? Check out how Supes disses Lois over this very issue: http://www.superdickery.com/dick/15.html
  2. Re: CHAMPIONS OF THE NORTH -- What Would You Like To See? Actually, this doesn't relate to Canada, but some sort of resurrected slave-trader character might be an interesting US supervillain. A Nazi-type one.
  3. Re: Assault on Stronghold I think I'm glad I stopped reading comics in the late 1980s.
  4. Re: Assault on Stronghold Just stay in supervillain genre. Bronze-age supervillains don't, um, embrace their chaotic evil nature with female captives.
  5. Re: Populate a 17th century galleon An exotic Turkish princess on the run from something, incognito. dressed as a sailor.
  6. Re: CHAMPIONS OF THE NORTH -- What Would You Like To See? How about a fiendish Quebecois terrorist separatist organization? Or would that just be too silly?
  7. Re: Populate a 17th century galleon Cabin Boy on a stick!
  8. Re: Populate a 17th century galleon O am getting a distinct Edward Gorey feel here.
  9. Re: Nnd Thanks. I see my confusion -- Sean's SFX is, I guess, beams coming out of the eyes, setting the target aflame. I was thinking of a scenario in which a character caused objects to spontaneously combust by looking at them, with no intermediary "carrier" (beams from eyes, in this case).
  10. Re: Nnd I'm building a character with a very similar power. My concern is -- shouldn't thios power be built Indirect, given that it can't be missile deflected?
  11. Re: How Many U S Heros ? Actually, I've seen few Champions characters that could stand up to modern military hardware in a straight fight.
  12. Re: Aliens watching our television Earth is where alien frat boys go to get laid. Think of it as a tawdry space sex tourism sort of thing. The Earth babes all know that once you've had Kzinti love, you ain't never goin' back, duuu-huuuude!
  13. Re: Artifacts If I'm not mistaken, I think Wolvie's the ancient warrior in Canada mentioned in the OP.
  14. Re: Populate a 17th century galleon A baby Kraken in a jar. Its mother wants to know where it is...
  15. Re: How Many U S Heros ? Damn immigrants taking jobs from America's supers! What's the world coming to!?!?
  16. Re: The team that everyone forgot. I'm going to stick with Marvel. DEVIL DINOSAUR and MOON-BOY! I loved them as a kid. Ghost Rider. He rocked. Might be overkill given the presence of a dinosaur on the team, but I always liked Ka-Zar. Wolvesbane. My favorite New Mutant, a pitifully weak power set but a nice character. And Rom, Space-Knight. 'Twould be a motley group indeed...
  17. Re: THE Uber Team I'm going to go with characters who may not be whupass in terms of sheer fighting power -- in fact they're midranged in power level --but who I like and I think are underutilized. Nightcrawler Ghost Rider Aquaman Valkyrie (of Defenders lack of fame) Werewolf by Night (does he still exist?)
  18. Re: THE Uber Team It is not often mentioned in polite company, but in fact Wonder Woman slept her way to the top of the JLA. I hear Hawkgirl has some issues with this.
  19. Re: Aliens watching our television You never know. Perhaps they worship us as Gods, and we will find an entire civilization based upon the "Girls Gone Wild" advertisements.
  20. Re: Assault on Stronghold It's a great idea. If I had my druthers I would play Mechassasin, if he still exists in the CU.
  21. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan -- eponymous

  23. Re: Superhero Politics One would have to work out what Alternative Universe Soviet Union was like. In the real world, the Gorbachev people came to power around 1985 and initiated Glasnost and Perestroika in order to liberalize the country and reduce tensions with the West. For various reasons they botched the attempt, and this led to the failed "hard-line putsch" to oust Gorbachev in 1991. The putsch was defeated and the fear of the "return of the headliners" was used by Yeltsin etc. to seize power and break up the Union. So, in Alternative Universe USSR, there are three options with this: 1. Gorbachev succeeded: the USSR still exists, but it is a democratic and market-economy-based, non-Communist USSR. This wouldn't work because although the USSR exists, the Cold War wouldn't, presumably. 2. The Gorby people never came to power. Perhaps Andropov lived longer? He was a reformer too, but would probably have followed the Chinese Model , pushing through economic reforms through authoritarian means. This USSR would probably look something like contemporary China. 3. Probably the best option if you want a villainous USSR: The hard-line putsch actually succeeds! Gorbachev was deposed (executed, if you want them to be really evil). Then the hardliners turn the clock back toward the Stalin era or something approaching it. Does the Warsaw Pact still exist? That was pretty much disbanded in 1989, so that would have to be taken into account.
  24. Re: Superhero Politics I think one important thing to be considered is the position of China in all this. Is China a growing power in this world? Is it still in an anti-Soviet position of detente with the US?
  25. Re: Superhero Politics I'm playing in a Russia-based PBEM campaign run on the uberworld site. There are lots of good ideas there if you look around.
