When she says "people" she must be referring to hardcore comics nerds. Because apart from them, nobody knows who Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel is.

Hmmm...  well, the best Fantastic Four movie was, after all, The Incredibles, so I'd go with that as better.

Ah yes. The natural evolution of superhero movie costumes (zero color).

I realize there will be a narrative explanation for it, but I still find it amusing that Snyder found a way to make Superman literally as dark as possible. Aquaman's costume is so dark as to be virtually black. Cyborg is monochromatic metal. If it weren't for Flash and Wonder Woman, there would be virtually no color at all in the Justice League. I think I understand now why they didn't want Green Lantern in the movie...he'd have added way too much color!

Except that the Disney princesses all come from different eras in Earth's history (and one of them doesn't even come from our galaxy). I don't buy that they are immortal. Bringing them together would be 100% fan service/cash grab. ("You say that like it's a bad thing!" Yes, well, because it is.)

Yeah, well, Wolverine isn't supposed to be a 6'2", handsome, slender hunk, but Hollywood will almost always sacrifice fidelity to the comics in favor of casting attractive actors people will pay to see.

In the case of Squirrel Girl, you can bet that she won't have much in the way of her comics costume to speak of either. She may wear some minor fashion accessory with a bit of brown fur on it, but that's probably going to be the extent of it (just like Scarlet Witch's only concession to the comics was that her jacket was red-ish).

Being encased in armor, for instance, has never been an issue. The faces of both Tony and Rhodey are always visible to the audience, even while in their armor. Moreover, many classic comic book costumes don't cover the face, Scarlet Witch being a prime example. Clearly, concerns over hiding the pretty actor behind a costume was not a factor with her. Other, less compelling (to me, anyway), reasoning was applied.

Now, masks are another matter, but even there they've seen fit to put Cap in his mask (or some form of it), to put Spidey in his mask, to make Vision completely red, and to project Scott Lang's personality almost entirely through Rudd's voice performance while he's in his suit. Ultimately, their policy (such as it is) is inconsistently applied and unconvincing in its reasoning.

Well, for anyone who grew up in the 70s (as Gygax and crew did), such a mixing of cultures had become a fixture of popular entertainment, and would have been thought of as pretty cool, not "odd":

We didn't recognize clerics as adhering very closely to any particular template. The closest thing we could come up with were crusading knights like the Templars. I don't think that image was too far off from what Gygax imagined them to be. There's enough congruency there to place clerics firmly within the traditions of western European history and folklore (and the modern fantasy literature inspired by it). Just like there's enough in the Monk class description to firmly place it within the traditions of Asian fighting monks like the Shaolin, rather than those of western mendicant orders like the Fransiscans.

All the kids I played with in high school (back in the early 80s) had a working familiarity with the historical and literary inspirations for most of what we found in AD&D. You didn't need a Ph.D in Western Civilization, East Asian Culture, or Medieval Literature to get this stuff.

Maybe that's what a D&D dragon has become, but in the days of OD&D and 1st ed. AD&D, the prototype for the Ancient Red Dragon was Smaug, and he sat upon his treasure horde all alone, and didn't need a powerful array of minions and leveled agents to be an unholy terror to an entire region of the (campaign) world. Don't let the fact that he had an Achilles Heel type weakness detract from the challenge he alone represented.
It wasn't until players routinely bragged about their 30th level characters and dragons became Just Another Monster in the MM that there was a need to turn them into the equivalent of supervillain organizations just to make them a challenge again.

I think the more long-form storytelling structure that overlays the MCU "phases" is one of the ways in which the movies get to feel a little bit like the comics. Sure, each issue (movie) is a standalone tale that is fun to experience on its own. But if you get onto the ride and stay on, you get further rewarded with a richer experience after seeing multiple threads woven together into a larger tapestry. The mere fact that Marvel has been able to pull that off successfully to the extent that they have is nothing short of astonishing. Nobody outside of Marvel thought it was remotely feasible given the conventional wisdom espoused by the traditional Hollywood braintrust. I see the MCU as a cinematic triumph, warts and all, especially given just how much worse it could have been (*cough* DCEU *cough*). I for one am not tired of any of it (yet). I still want more.
