Re: Dogs, monkeys and robots OK, I have a possible robot name, which I have often used for a bad-guy in my campaigns, but the name itself is fairly neutral: Robo-Sapien. As for the "Monkey" I think it should be a silver-back gorilla body with a human brain. But instead of the cliche "super-genius brain trapped in a big ape body," have him be just a regular guy. He was never anything special before, but now that he's got the strength and agility of a giant silver-back gorilla, he's gonna be (da-da-da-daaaah!) a super hero! He would be the group's muscle.

Re: The "Instant Change" Talent, live. Just a quick note: The is actually called "America's Got Talent," and it's had several very impressive acts (many of which can be found on youtube.com). One of my favorites was the girl who did a hand-stand and shot a bow and arrow with her feet. That's right, folks, her feet (Ollie Queen, step up). Hit her target, too.

Re: DC Animated Ground Rules As I intended it. I have had ideas for several Justice League games, but never gotten to run them. Right now, I'd just love to get into almost any game from either side of the screen, but if I had somebody tell me he was gonna run the game you described, I would jump through the roof for the chance.

I have ideas for so many characters: Hourman, Sandman, Mr. Terrific (modern), Nightwing, Captain Marvel. Firestorm. This is a game I would love to run, if I could get players who would do it right. But even more, I would love, love, love to play in it.

Re: Supervillain Monologues Wrsetlers are great for monologue inspiration. I especially recommend Ric Flair and The Rock. I will never forget one match against Mick Folley. The Rock took the match out of the ring, grabbed a headset from the announcers' table, put it on, and started to do both play-by-play and color commentarie for his own match. My other suggestion is Ozzymandias' monlogue from "Watchmen." Someone has it quoted in his sig. It ends with (paraphrasing), "Do it? I'm not some Republic Serial villain. I would never have revealed my master stroke if there was the slightest chance of you stopping it. I did it 35 minutes ago." Oh, "The Incredibles" was great too.

Re: Help: How would you build this disad? It's not a Dependance. He takes no damage from not using his powers, he starts to do damage to other people. And he could theoreticly be kept from using what I define as his active powers (flight, super-strength, eye beams) by something as simple as keeping him surrounded by people in his secret ID. Does this information change anybody's suggestions?

I have an idea for a character who's powers come from an unusual source: his cells are miniature nuclear reactors. The drawback is that if he doesn't use his active powers for at least an hour every day (not continuously), he begins to leak radiation, becoming a danger to those around him (obviously, he is immune himself). How would you build this disad? All help would be appreciated.

Re: Batman vs Midnighter You know what I would love to see? Midnighter comes up against a foe he absolutely can not beat. No matter how many times he runs the battle in his combat computer, it shows him getting killed. No matter what he tries. He simply can't win. How does he cope with this? A true hero would stand his ground and do every thing he possibly could to stop (or at least delay) the bad guy. I see the Midnighter running away screaming. Possibly with tears flowing down his face and a brown stain forming on the back of his pants.

Re: Comic Book Physics With me, it varies. But in most of my games it's around the same level of reality as the Justice League animated series. Yeah, you can pick up a building (if you're strong enough), and hit the bad guy with it, but you'd better hurry and get that shot in before the building crumbles. Characters exchanging punches with 60+ strength will probably shatter nearby windows. You can run across water if you're fast enough. A guy with normal-human maximum strength can throw or knock over a bad guy who outmasses him by a ton or so, if he catches the baddie by surprise and uses the right technique. It's not incredibly realistic, but it's fun.

Re: X-Men "Elseworld" game My opinion? Forget Remy LeBeau. He's almost as overused, overexsposed, and over-rated as Wolverine. Almost. Instead, use Taskmaster. Awesome character, can take on the Avengers single-handed, smart as Hell, and he's a mutant to boot.

Re: Anyone know what happened to JLU? I guess it really was 5 seasons, huh? Just doesn't seem that long. A big part of my frustration is that thanks to my work schedule, I wasn't able to see much of the last 2 seasons, and kept hearing about how they were getting better and better. Oh, well, I got my rant over with and will now wait for the DVDs and S-T-DVD movies. Thanks, all.

Re: WWYCD: Hero with "Questionable" Political Views OK, Original topic: Voltage: Would probably just look at the guy and say, "Dude, you need help. Like, professional. Seriously." Have I played characters with different religious/political beliefes than myself? Absolutely. I am a non-denominational Christian (formerly Lutheran) and an independant political conservative. I have played characters who were Odinists, communists, athiests, Catholics, Wiccan, and any number of others. I think the reason Pagan religions don't get taken more seriously in comics is because "gods" like Thor, Hercules, etc. are seen as just another group of supers. It's the same reaction one of my characters, Mass (an atheistic scientist) had when he met some of the Greek gods: "They're just superhumans, like us. If we had lived back then, we would have been worshipped as gods, too."

What happened to the best animated series of all time? One day I'm reading an article on what was planned for the next season, the next day it seemed to just vanish! Teen Titans is still on the air but JLU isn't?! WTF?! I know it's coming out on DVD now, but what happened to make Cartoon Network drop it?

Re: "Thing ring, do your thing!" I remember both these horrible cartoons. Sort of. I remember that they existed, and I remember that I watched them, but I don't remember any of the episodes. After reading the recap of the Magneto episode, I'm incredibly glad of that. Sounds like these were even worse that Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends.

Re: Your Character: The Series (Not exactly WWYCD...) Voltage: Wouldn't have his own show, but would co-star in "Mellennium Force: The Animated Series." Would be TV-PG or 14. Focus would be on superhero action and adventure, with interesting characterization and some deep themes and involved stories. Possible controversies would include heavy emphasis on the supernatural (especially the Greek Mythos and heavy magic-use), and Voltage's horn-dog personality (hey, he's a 19-year-old superhero. Hormones and testosterone off the scale).

Re: Titles for your character Voltage: Had 4 nick-names. The press usually referred to him as "The Human Generator," he called himself "The Most Electrifying Man in Mellennium City," and the girls he had gone out with had either called him "The Horn-Dog," or "Oh...Wow."

Re: WWYCD for a klondike bar? (humorous please) Voltage: Would fly high into the sky, strip out of his costume, and buzz all the girls' dorms at MCU while naked. Then he would land beside the announcer and say, "Now that I've gotten my daily 'constitutional' out of the way, what was that about a Klondike Bar?"

I ran one game where several of the players came to me and said of another PC that their characters would never adventure with him, and they didn't want him in the group. I replied "well, then, don't vote him in." (They were in the middle of a recruiting drive, and the new character was a replacement for that player's dead PC.) They basicly replied, "We can do that?" I said, "Yes! There's not a big 'PC!' stamped on his forehead." I, as a player, have had to make plans to take down my team-mates in case they ever "went rogue." Usually just certain ones, though. And this was years before Batman was shown doing pretty much the same thing in JLA.
