  1. Re: CHAMPIONS UNIVERSE: NotW -- Updating Villains Updated - see here (or post 47).
  2. Re: Name That Cult The Lightbringer Family or Lightbringer Foundation depending if you want a weird family cult vibe or a corporate cult vibe. Or use both - have the members refer to themselves as family but have the organisation operate in a more corporate mode. Each member could forsake their family name, legally changing it to Lightbringer ("Hi, I'm Tom Lightbringer and this is my wife Katie Lightbringer who is also my mother and daughter. We are all one family. Soon you will be too.") and signing over all worldly possession to their new 'family'. Give them all perfect teeth and charisma (extra point or two of COM and PRE through plastic surgery) and let the creepiness begin.

  4. Re: Running jokes in your campaign The Dreaded Location 13. My character Snapback (highly skilled rapid healing pistol dude), in every campaign I've played him where hit locations are used will get hit in location 13 in every combat, defined as the "groin-type area" for our group. Shot by a sniper? Location 13. Kicked by a street punk? Location 13. Haymakered by a brick? Location 13. Tasered? Location 13. Bitten? Location 13. Flame Thrower? Location 13. Grabbed? Location 13. Falling 10 stories out of a tall chinese pagoda only to land on a spike? Location 13. Sometime even twice. And once 3 times (two snipers and one fall out of a chinese pagoda). Made me/Snapback wait with dreaded anticipation every encounter for the dreaded location roll. And people wondered why my character tried to end fights quickly and cleanly by shooting people in the head as quickly and often as he could.
  5. Re: Timestop Difficulties I'd suggest keep the power but re-writing it to be more accurate to the effect it is simulating - either a Transform or an extra-dimensional movement usable against other to send them 'outside of time' or what have you. The transform would be the preferred option for me, as the 'Entangle' actually grants Immunity to Aging and would probably also make the individual immune to other time effect powers. Only problem is the target cannot move or act. Then the transform could wear off over time. Or buy it as a SPD and DEX and movement power Drain/Suppress. The Drain is a particularly nasty version, even at a 5 pt recovery rate. And if you make it a transfer? Look out. Yes, it can get expensive, but the drain and transfers can chip away at a person's 'temporal stability'. Also, just because it was initially defined as an 'Entangle' doesn't mean it is. I don't think a mental entangle is the best way of simulating the power, and from what you've said it is a headache the way it is. If you still want to keep the Entangle maybe place some limitations on it to make it more workable and appropriate to the power effect you described (e.g. Cannot make barriers, not vs Life Support: Aging), save the player some points, and allow them to buy something else while keeping their Timestop. And there is always Mental Damage Shields.
  6. Re: CHAMPIONS UNIVERSE: NotW -- Updating Villains But I'll keep them on the list, for interest's sake. Gives you a summary feel for what people want to see. Updates posted - see post 47.
  7. Re: CHAMPIONS UNIVERSE: NotW -- Updating Villains Thanks
  8. Re: CHAMPIONS UNIVERSE: NotW -- Updating Villains Thanks - it was interesting to do. And the only thing I'd say about Grond is all he needs is some damage reduction (at least 50% but probably 75% all round - Physical/Energy/Mental/anything else) linked to his Enraged/Beserk (I forget). Then sure, he is easy to take down... just as long as he isn't angry. If he is? Unstoppable.
  9. Re: CHAMPIONS UNIVERSE: NotW -- Updating Villains I'd like to add Invictus... And for interest’s sake here is the list so far (with multiple mentions by different boarders signified by number of positive mentions in front of name). Ones that people have suggested that Steve has stated are already completed/updated are in bold. Only mentions of specific villains or groups by name have been included, and all characters specifically from earlier editions (some from 3rd ed Villainy Unbound spring to mind) have also been ignored. Sorry if I missed any or got someone twice when they were only mentioned once: 7 Foxbat (& minions) 7 Grond (note – not allowed under rule 2, but had so many mentions Grond could not be ignored) 5 Mechanon 3 Eurostar (group/organisation) 3 GRAB (group/organisation) 3 Menton 3 Snowblind (Icicle) 3 Takofanes (& minions) 3 Utility 3 Warlord and the War Machine (group/organisation) 2 Black Harlequin 2 Black Paladin 2 Captain Chronos 2 Deuce 2 Doctor Destroyer (group/organisation) 2 Durak 2 Engineer 2 Firewing 2 Gravitar 2 Herculan 2 Mechassassin 2 Nebula 2 Slug (done - see first post) 2 Tachyon 2 Telios (group/organisation) 2 Zorran the Artificer Amphibian Armadillo BlowTorch Bulldozer (?) Caliburn The Crowns of Krimm (group/organisation) Demon (group/organisation) Devestator Doctor Fang Shen Dr. Yin Wu (group/organisation) Duchess Industries (group/organisation) Eagle-Eye Fab Five (group/organisation) Green Dragon Howler Hypnos (& Doctor Bedlam) Invictus Ironclad Istvatha V'han (group/organisation) Lady Blue (done - see first post) Lazer Marus Mentalla Mirage The Monster Mordace Nighthawk Nightwind Ogre Pulsar Ripper Riptide Sai The Sentinels (group/organisation)\ Shrieker Signal Ghost Soulfire Steel Commando Temblor The Ultimates (group/organisation) UNTIL (group/organisation) Viper (group/organisation) Zephyr Zigzag So I guess it's a Foxbat/Grond/Mechanon teamup book then eh? (MechaFoxGrondBatanon?)
  10. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? About 5 minutes of the Golden Globes Red Carpet Special.
  11. Re: CHAMPIONS UNIVERSE: NotW -- Updating Villains I'd like updates of: Utility, Mechassassin, Lazer and Steel Commando - they are all in competition with one another. Surely at least one of them has done something about the others. Something nasty... More to come when I look at the books (Champions and CKC mainly, right?)
  12. Re: Artwork for Gestalt But I look great doing it!
  13. Re: Artwork for Gestalt I'm like a 6000SUX
  14. Re: Artwork for Gestalt I blame your mom too:D That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
  15. Re: The downsides of the Iron Age To add to the Iron Age list of things I've read and enjoyed (parts of at the very least, if not entirely): Hitman Sleeper Punisher Wildcats Stormwatch Achilles Batman: The Killing Joke is definitely an Iron Age story too - so add that to the Watchmen and Dark Knight Returns era.
  16. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... How about the following as a title? The High School Adventures of Neo Cyber Mega Ninja Demon Pirates from Super Magic Space Dimension X That way you can cover a whole heap of anime styles in one game
  17. Re: Help Finding Zipped Files Of GNBORH According to the contents of the zip file, the last txt file was modified on the 18 Sept 2002 (A green martian from the John Carter mythos). Maybe around then?

  20. Re: The downsides of the Iron Age One thing I dislike about the Iron Age of comics is the rust.
  21. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Hufflepuff in a Helicopter anyone?
  22. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Is Dumbledore's on a Train the sequel to Snape's on a Plane?
  23. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... I didn't realise they released a SOAP soundtrack.... does Billy Crystal get any airtime?
  24. Re: Good-by Brick vs non flying bricks? Flying Energy Projector. And what follows are just a few: SPD drain. NND damage shield (electricity - defense is not being grounded). Penetrating Autofire. A much faster opponent. Flash. Darkness. Invisibility.
