  2. Re: Who homages the Watchmen or those the Watchmen homaged? Although Fallout often get's accused of being a Doctor Manhattan tribute he really isn't. The only true tribute character I've done was Vile a send up to the Scuzz from DP 7

  6. Re: Your PCs might be Underpowered if... Imprisoned weapons such as a broomstick routinely outclass your damage and/or defenses.
  7. Re: What's the point? They're gonna escape anyways Adventure, Excitement, a Jedi craves not these things.

  9. Re: Mercenaries The Gladiators Part 2: Playing For Keeps As a building erupts in the distance the familiar sounds of security alarms ring out not far from you. A local jewelery has gone into lock down as several well built robbers seal the employees inside. The Gladiators do not initially flee when the PCs arrive instead they do their best to block the Characters from reaching the store; even going so far as to toss the stolen jewels. As with the Towering Inferno the building has been sealed with five bombs designed to bring the building down. These charges go off sequentially acting as if they had a Speed of 3.>
  10. Re: Evaluation on an ability: Bounce Back If I understand this power correctly it keeps the character from being truly knocked out unless there is a major hit and puts them at the 1 Recovery needed stage to get back into the fight. If anything I would supplement this with some limited Recovery with those same conditions, must be below 1 Stun and above -11. This would simulate the character taking a hit that would daze them then jumping right back into the action. Although I can see this power working in a supers campaign I think it would fit nicely into a Pulp Hero character.
  11. Re: Watchmen: A GM's tale...or why we set campaign limits Well he can turn into a car...
  12. Re: Mercenaries The Gladiators Story Seed: Enter the Gladiators Part 1: The Towering Inferno While on patrol or out on the town if the characters normally patrol together a fire erupts at a nearby building. Rushing to the four story tenement the Character helps to evacuate those inside but some of the victims warn that there may be someone trapped on the roof. If the Character goes up they will find one of the Gladiators getting ready to flee with a briefcase. The building is unstable and ready to come down. Seeing the hero however the Gladiator can't allow for witnesses and decides to put him down. Fire Bombs inside the building going off create randomly placed 2d6k Explosions on the roof. Since the Gladiator placed them they know where to avoid stepping. Partial Collapse: A side of the building goes down. Roll randomly or just pick on the Player... enjoy> End of Part 1: If the Gladiator gets away they will still need to eliminate the Character and quickly. Should they be captured, the others may come looking. - - - Next: Playing for keeps...

  15. Re: Watchmen: A GM's tale...or why we set campaign limits The question I have is would it be running a Parallel story with the original Minute Men and if so was the Comedian also a PC?
  16. Re: PA Hero -- Best all around ammunition Not to put to sarcastic a spin on this but, any ammo you have that matches the gun you have is the best ammunition. The set up implies that the characters have a limited amount of resources and either deal with traders or scavenge for gear. Either way you go resource management would be vital. Stockpiling whatever firearms you have then sorting out the ammo for them. If we're talking in a sandbox environment for a sidearm I would think that he .357 or .45 would be an easy answer due to popularity and distribution making ammo easy to find, relatively. If you're looking at a rifle .223 Remington or 5.56 again for the reasons listed above. A strategy one might present is using the more common 9 mm round at range where the character is more likely to miss reserving the more effective ammo for when threats get to close. The exception to this would be scavengers and threats capable of using ranged attacks where in you would want to put them down as quickly as possible.
  17. Re: Nothing can stop me now!
  18. A spin off from Nothing Can Stop Me Now! thread (post) this team of mercenaries is one of the dirty little secrets of Great Britten. Their similar training and common powers implies that the same event granted their Metahuman Abilities. Although unconfirmed some attribute this to the Barrister Event in 1967 although judging from their appearance all of the Gladiators would have been infants or not yet born. Whatever the truth is, it remains unknown. The Gladiators often work in smaller groups tackling a job with two or three members alone. However, if things are called for the full team of eight will work together to take down major threats using tactics and teamwork to best complement each others skills. Overall each of the Gladiators fall into their own niche with a few exceptions who have more balanced abilities. As they are all built at starting PC levels for a standard superhero campaign they should be a reasonable challenge one on one and easy opponents when faced by the full team. Again, their true strength comes from working as one after being defeated once or twice. Call those early victories a teaser. Creating variations on the Gladiators should be relatively easy with their common block of Disadvantages it's simple enough to slip in changes such as Vulnerabilities. Creating new Gladiators is also fairly straight forward for the same reason. Atlas: The heavy hitter and face man of the Gladiators. Atlas is classic brick overpowering his fores with sheer brute strength. - - - Battleaxe: Strong woman and force manipulator Battleaxe's name comes from the intimidating weapons she is able to generate. - - - Inferno: Bathed in flame Inferno cries napalm and overwhelms her foes with a barrage of fire. A balance of offense and defense Inferno rarely works without one of the other Gladiators at her side. - - - Oblivion: Shrouded in shadow Oblivion manipulates and controls the forces of darkness. The Gladiator's deadly Life Leach bypasses most defenses sapping their very will to live. - - - Panther: A vicious hunter, Panther is able to shift her body into an amalgam of the great cats. To go along with her claws she seems to have a cat's remarkable ability to avoid harm. - - - Predator: Leader of the Gladiators, Predator is a skilled tactician and martial artist. Able to become completely invisible he is an assassin of the highest rank. - - - Siren: Beautiful and seductive Siren can control the hearts and minds of men with only a song. - - - Tornado: The living tempest Tornado is untouchable in combat and his ability to strike at range makes him deadly. The Cert is lame truth behind the Gladiators.

  20. Re: Character regrets Apollyon, a character I use for a lot of the WWYCD threads was designed for a game on Hero Central that folded almost as soon as he got in. I've thought about brining the character into the Metahumans Rising world as a GMPC but he doesn't really fit that campaigns tone. so for now he lives here on the boards.
  21. Re: Nothing can stop me now! "With the Amulet of the Mountain King I am invulnerable! Fall to your knees fools!" Another take on adding staying power to the villain this power grants an extra 6 PD and ED each time they take an action. Granted they're be giving up their first one to turn it on and at a -14 to their Magic skill but hay you want to concor the world you better study hard. Okay, granted this one takes a bit more prep work than just plugging it to any given villain but what self respecting bad guy isn't already going to already have some armor to start with. The build requires a Magic skill although a name change can easily remove that limitation.

    Stun Maximum

Re: Stun Maximum Recently I put the Defenders from Metahumans Rising up against a baddie by the name of Detritus. A kind of cruel joke monster from someone who can manipulate genetics and biology at a master level. Detritus was an amalgamation of several solders from the group it's creator had been working for. Spliced together and infused with a massive dose of a radioactive chemical. As they where still flesh and bone I didn't think is was right to give it Damage Reduction, although it did have a fair amount of PD and ED. It did however have a base Stun of 108. However, a few well placed Find Weakness attacks and a few Armor Piercing hits and Detritus was forced to flee. Although it was eventually captured before bringing the Arlington Police Central Office down on top of the team.
  23. Re: Nothing can stop me now! Based on some of the suggestions here and one made in the you make the call thread here is what I think could qualify has a solo class villain (although he seems like he could stand on his own due to the personality I wouldn't call him a master villain.) The character sheet is hidden to add that element of temptation and because I know some of my players read this board. Hope you enjoy the Gray Hunter.
  24. Re: Nothing can stop me now! Spread Rep Bla Bla ... someone hit this guy for me will ya? It seems like this build along with a Variable Special Effect Energy Blast on a Trigger (SFX tied to whatever the VPP is currently doing) would really throw players for a loop. Even without a high speed the Triggered EB would make for a major "tenderizer" then on the actual vilain's Phase they could let loose with whatever's currently cued up.
