  1. For some reason, I'm inspired to open a nutmeg dealership.
  2. OK, I'm now on Windows 10. I reinstalled 7. I installed updates up to Service Pack 1. Immediately after installing SP1 and rebooting, I checked for updates. The Updater updated itself. And broke. So, I spent all night last night trying to fix the updater on a clean system. No love. I manually installed every patch that's supposed to fix the updater, in order, and none did. Soooo . . . I tried installing 10 with updates disabled. Still jammed up 25% through updates. Found out that unplugging my DVD/Blue Ray drive might help with that. It did. Just finished installing 10. So far, so good. I still have a few apps and games to install, and a few more annoyances to track down and disable, but so far so good. I don't mind the overall look, and it seems fairly fast.
  3. Wonder Woman not welcome as UN Ambassador for the Empowerment of Women and Girls, Lynda Carter calls "Bull"
  4. She pushed it all the way to 44, actually. Though she doesn't really look it at all.
  5. There is a loophole. Irrelevant one, though, since it won't install. I could probably get it to install, but it's not worth the effort. The repair install of 7 failed to fix the problem, so I'm just going to wipe the system and reinstall 7.
  6. Well, that met with near instantaneous failure. I managed to dig up a copy of 7, though, so I guess I'll just repair the install.
  7. Well, I finally decided to take the plunge today. My Windows 7 install is incapable of getting updates, none of the fixes I've found have worked, and I can't find the disk. I figure I'll have to move to 10 or its successor eventually anyway, and don't like being without security updates, so I've started the download of 10. I'm a bit scared. Somebody hold me and tell me everything's going to be alright.
  8. Old enough to know better, too old to care, and apparently very experienced in certain areas.
  9. I'm not sure I'd say that shooting stances reduce END. They use a lot of small, weak muscles to stabilize against recoil to allow faster followup shots. That can be a little tiring in my experience. Here's a video from Jerry Mikulec that covers handgun grips/stances pretty well. IIRC, he covers some aspects of reducing muscle strain, which could relate to the issue of END cost in Hero:

  11. That may be true. McCain's going a big step further, to attempt to block SCOTUS appointments for four to eight years, though. Their nonsense has to reach a tipping point sooner or later.
  12. Brennan had confirmation hearings in 1957, with only McCarthy voting against him. So, it wasn't a case of a recess appointment getting around a refusal to have a confirmation hearing. It doesn't seem relevant to the current situation. The rule for recess appointments according to that bastion of scholarly knowledge known as Wikipedia is that the appointee needs to be confirmed in the next session or the position becomes vacant again: The position is ridiculous, though. Hopefully, it will lose them enough seats to motivate them to do their jobs.
  13. Got off light over here in Snohomish. Our area barely had any wind at all, just a few gusts. A few miles up the road had a lot more wind.
  14. It looks like 7.1 is coming on Oct. 25th. That's pretty quick.
  15. You too! We dodged the bullet on last night's wind. Never rose above a gentle breeze here. Let's hope we're as lucky tomorrow night.
  16. Looks like it's our turn to duck in the PNW.
  17. Listening to clip of Michelle Obama speech about sexual harassment and Trump. Holy crap. Very good speech*, amazing delivery. *Not so good for Trump.
  18. No doubt. I think the actual implosion is just getting closer.
  19. I wonder if we'll have a GOP by next election. They seem to be doing a pretty good job of imploding right now. Edit: Heh. I should read the whole thread before responding, LL beat me to it in the post right above this one. GMTA. Or MMSTLGMOA* in this case. *

  21. What Barry's done so far is nothing compared to the chaos unleashed over on Legends of Tomorrow. You'd think they'd have screwed stuff up even worse.
  22. I was thinking that was a possibility. Or at least not at first.
  23. Mon-El. Not sure if they're going with him being Daxamite or not. From here: "In an interview with Collider, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said that their Mon-El will be “our own spin on” the character."
