I think the DCEU failed when the thread about it became about James Bond instead.

    Just sayin'.

Not quite 'right now,' but we got back from a Joan Jett concert at the state fair a little while ago. She sounds exactly like her old recordings. Was a pretty good show.

I did see the original and I'm fine with the changes made (since the story was condensed from 700 minutes to 100): It got the point across.

I liked the "Xanatos Speed Chess" trope being used to full effect in act 3: it was very much in line with the anime.

So, basically they went from a literal concrete jungle to a swimming pool as a result. Ouch.

The gun control lobby isn't exactly without influence, either.

Both sides are guilty of clouding the issue so much that it's nearly impossible for the average voter to make a rational decision, which is what they want. It's easier to use emotion to manipulate voters than it is to use reason. There have been plenty of studies pointing to people making major decisions being driven by emotional needs more than logic.

Perhaps "childish" would have been the better word.

The majority of those statues were placed by the Sons/Daughters of the Confederacy. I have my own thoughts of what their motives were in placing them, and historical preservation isn't in those thoughts.

I should probably point out that I don't condone the idiocy in the article, and that I was mocking it. And that I can't resist a bad pun.

    Futurama The RPG

Welcome To The World Of Tomorrow!  I envision a template system like the original Star Wars RPG, with a large assortment of possible characters, such as Starship Captain. Starship Crew, Old Scientist, Young Scientist, Grad Student, Janitor, Bureaucrat, Space Soldier--and of course, Delivery Boy.  The catch is that instead of the players choosing a template, they roll on a table for one.  (Skills and talents can be customized according to the players' whims, however.)  For many of the characters, adventuring in space would be their weekend gig, as they try to seek a life beyond "Ya Gotta Do What Ya Gotta Do."

Then there's all the other good stuff--spaceships, ray guns, rocket packs, hovercars, alien worlds, alien life forms, adventuring in four, five, and even two dimensions. (And Zoidberg.  Can't forget Zoidberg.)  And of course, the robots.  You could have a supplement for the game devoted to robots alone, as player characters, helpers, and adversaries.

    Sounds like fun to me.

This is a tangent, but I just came across some of our Shadowrun CCG cards. I'd love to see this reintroduced as a living card game format. It would need some balancing tweaks (Lord Torgo says hi), but it was a pretty solid, fun and simple to learn game.

Probably trying to dodge the Angry Black Man stereotype for Cage. Plus, Coulter plays calm and collected very well.

I heard he had some weird hip gyration injury that landed him in a nursing home, where he and a fellow resident fought off a mummy.

Just to be clear, I'm not engaging in alt-left Trumpisms here. Antifa just happened to be the subject. The neo-Nazis should have been sent packing since they showed up armed as well, permit or not. (I have other opinions on that group, but shouldn't let them out of the dark corners of my mind, lest they be noticed by The Simon.)

While violent solutions are sometimes necessary, applying them haphazardly tends to get innocents caught up in the crossfire. I'm not sure that the words of some random guy who's fired up at a rally really calls for any broad application of violent solutions. Certainly not the clownish vigilantism of Antifa.

IMO, the authorities should shut down -- and should have been prepared to shut down in this last case -- any and all rallies and protests where people show up armed. That just stopped being a "peaceful assembly" and needs to be not just contained but dispersed.

I also think people who show up looking like they're ready for a medieval melee should be forced into an arena and made to fight to the death, but while it'd be amusing (to me), I don't really think we need to do that just yet.

It seems to me that Antifa helped stir the pot, and helped put the peaceful counter-protestors at risk. There's a disturbing trend of smaller agitator groups inciting violence at protests, and it looks to me that Antifa is in that camp, or at least some subset of them is.
