Dr. Saint (Co-Founder)- Brick who's one of the strongest men in the world. Paper (Co-Founder)- Various telekinetic abilities, can only affect paper or objects with paper in them. Electron- Electricity projector who has all his powers take on a Green Lantern-esque manifestation (Crossbows, Shields, etc) Emerald Dragon (Me)- Martial artist with chi powers, a motorcycle, a penchant for one-liners and a fear of the several things that have almost killed him. Patriot- Supersoldier who is partially displaced from time. Former Members: Mister Nonsense (Co-Founder)- Insane amnesiac with variety of abilities, mainly time travel. Lost his powers due to a concussion during a battle with Mechanon. Marial (sp)- Mage who left the group for no apparent reason. Shift- Self-described "Vigilante" with teleportation and a multi-function gun. Left the group due to an argument about Shift's philosophy of justifiable homicide (IE he would take a life to save a life). Mantis- Speedster with shrinking abilities. Reassigned to a special task force (Read: Player was kicked out of the game)

  3. Re: WWYCD: Fans and cons Mister Nonsense (who during his tenure in the group was the unofficial 'marketing' guy) would jump at this chance, handing out merchandise and free hamburgers (He had a LS power from the UNTIL database called Out For Lunch, which basically allowed him to use time travel to seemingly summon food out of nowhere. And he would offer food to other characters. "Hamburger?" "No thanks, I prefer tacos" *pulls out a taco*). He's too weird for most people to be fans of, though. Shift: "Do I HAVE to go? I'd rather do something worthwhile". Emerald Dragon: As a former kung-fu movie star, he LOVES the spotlight. He'll definately get into this.
  4. Re: WWYCD: The Prometheus Meteorshower (Kelvarite) Mister Nonsense: Welcome Stan's new uprising of new good heroes for justice! But we don't want the trashcans getting superpowers. Better round em all up just to be safe. Shift (Who after leaving the group went back to Hudson City): ...Last thing this town needs is guys like Siddhartha having powers. Better call in some backup to try and... I don't know, divert the comet to somewhere not populated with homicidal gansters? If that can't be helped well... looks like I'll need to bring a bandolier of ammo or two. Emerald Dragon: Call Dr. Silverback! It's like in Asteroid of Doom Collides! one of my few non-kung-fu movies. The think tank's going to need to be worked in full force... and maybe get some mystics to help (as the PCs in my game are based in Vibora Bay).
  5. Re: Military medals As stated above, most standard PCs who are ex-military should be Bronze Star, maybe with a Purple Heart. A high-level game might allow for a feasible Silver Star or higher, again most likely with at least one Purple Heart. A Captain America-level character would probably have almost every medal the US has to offer. He might even be an exception to the rule for the Medal of Honor. So, it really depends on what level you're playing in, but seeing as you posted this in the DC section, I'll say Bronze Star with a Purple Heart is a safe bet.
  6. Re: Batman is dead While I may not be as experienced as a GM as most people on this board, I have to agree with Thia that player input really helps make the game more enjoyable. If they like the idea of a Bat Team campaign with a PRIMUS Batgirl as the leader, by all means, go for it. I personally think it'd be a fun game. But some players might not. Definately come up with at least three or four alternate premises for the campaign, worst case scenario where they don't like any ideas (which is unlikely), fall back on winging it and writing the story around what the characters do in their first few encounters. All that being said, I hope you and your players end up with a satisfying and fun game.

  8. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game Done and done
  9. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game Well, I think one thing that would help would be removing all the citizens and vehicles when an invasion occurs. Makes no sense for them to be there anyways. I mean, do the words "TAKE COVER" mean anything?
  10. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game Wow. We only have 2 instances of Atlas, Kings, and Steel. Maybe PI or CoV areas, haven't checked. You'd think they have an alternate instance for Talos too.
  11. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game My problem with the invasions is that, at least in Virtue, it tends to be Lag Central. Any problems with that in other servers?
  12. Re: WWYCD: Felononius Feline I'll go by each of the three characters I've had in my current campaign so far: Mister Nonsense: The burgler is a bad man and bad men are in league with the garbage cans! Womp the burgler with a flying penguin and if possible go for the loot later. Also, Mister Nonsense is too insane to try and pick someone up if it's a Catwoman. Shift: Port down, grab the loot, port back up (this version had a stretching move that's SFX is teleporting). Then, chase down the crook. Once I take him out with nonlethal ammo, I pound on him for a bit to keep him down, then have him hauled in. If it's a Catwoman, Shift doesn't care. To him, criminal behavior makes even the hottest woman ugly. Emerald Dragon (Martial Artist with ki attacks): For all I know, those are priceless valubles. Sure I can bring the guy to justice, but that won't bring any heirlooms back. Dive for em with my force field on and try to break my fall (maybe grab a pipe on the way down). Once they're safe, tell the cops where the burgler was last seen. If it's a Catwoman, he'd make some suggestive one-liners. 'Now, you can't POSSIBLY just be looking for loot with that pushup on...' but he wouldn't get romantic (Unless it's Lucy Liu. He has a Pulsar complex with her.)
  13. Background: Chris "Haphazard" Anderson is one lucky individual... but has an odd idea of how to put his luck to good use. He won the lottery the very first time he played it, and spent most of his money on kung-fu movies and asian weapons. He doesn't even have to work for a living... he just plays casino games. Nobody ever seems to even check if he's counting cards or cheating... which he isn't. He narrowly avoided getting hit by a car by jumping onto the hood and landing on his feet... only to get on the hood and insist the driver keep moving as he 'surfs' the car. The crazy thrillseeker became a costumed 'hero' of sorts, although stopping crime wasn't so much the priority as taking down a bad guy and looking cool doing it. Hell, he'd go toe to toe with a hero too just to prove he's the best and coolest guy in the world. Personality: Haphazard is a guy you hate to love. He's a cocky, reckless, hero wannabe... but because of his insane antics, people love him. As the president of Haphazard's official fan club put it: "So the Champions defeated Dr. Destroyer in 92... who cares? Let's see Defender catch a bullet with his teeth and spit it back at the guy while on a snowboard!" He loves the spotlight and proudly displays his newest sponsor's logo on his stuntman suit. Quote: "Let's see if your fancy powered armor can do this!" Tactics: His favorite opening tactic is to use any item he can pick up and throw it at the opponent. While he can hold his own in ranged combat, he loves to get up close and personal with his opponents, using his martial arts to overwhelm his opponents. 14. Re: Batman is dead I would have had Harley live, myself. Turn her from a lackey to a master villain out to kill Greyson in a twisted form of revenge. Then again, Harley is my favorite member of Batman's RG, so there may be a bit of bias from my part.
  15. Re: It's Baaaack.... ...I want this guy to win. That name is awesome and cheesy at the same time.
  16. Re: Team Didn't Think Through Their Names I see their name also came from the initials of each member's name. So it's a good thing Gel-Ding didn't have steel powers and called himself Tungsten. And that's my "Putting Lowbrow in your Highbrow" for the day.
  17. Re: So I'm working on a possible future campaign... Correction. You obviously haven't heard Super Steve. Back to the topic, I've decided to go for Hudson City. That being said, I'm using The Harbringer and LIBRA, as well as a rival, more underground group called the Brotherhood of the Black Dagger. I'll have a writeup on the group (and singnificant members) later.
  18. Re: [short Adventure] HEAVY METAL: Armored villains unite! I don't have that adventure, so no.
  19. Re: [short Adventure] HEAVY METAL: Armored villains unite! LOL. I just thought that would be a good name for a group of villains who were all armored, is all.
  20. HEAVY METAL A campy short adventure for Champions in four parts Synopsis: Mechassasin and Lazer put aside their differences and form a group with fellow armored villains Anklyosuar and Armadillo to form the group known as Heavy Metal, to show those superpowered wimps what real power is all about. While other heroes are involved in this adventure, all you really need stats for are the villains, all of which can be found in CKC. Heavy Metal Roster: Anklyosuar Armadillo Lazer Mechassasin Foxbat (In 'Issue Four') Other villains involved: Grondd Bulldozer Captain Chronos Cateran GRAB Other heroes involved: The Champions Decibelle ISSUE ONE- In the middle of an unusually quiet day (either patrolling or at the base), Captain Chronos appears in front of the PCs. "Hello... ooh, sorry, not supposed to be here yet" *dissapears, then reappears* "Okay there we go. Now... oh, wait, what was I going to say? Must not have been that important..." *dissapears and reappears* "OH! Now I remember! Go to the mall, and you may be able to stop Anklyosuar from doing too much damage." If the players follow Captain's tip, they'll arrive just in time to see Anklyosuar crashing into the mall (ironically though a china shop) and proceed to wreak havoc. After post-segment 12, Foxbat, who believes this is his 'What if Foxbat was a hero' issue, speeds through the hole Anklyosuar made in his 'Foxbatmobile' (Actually just a Saturn with a custom paintjob), and pops out of the car claiming to be here "To save the day! And get some pretzels". After two Phases of trying and failing to hurt Anklyosuar, he'll realize he's completely outclassed and makes a break for it (but first, a pretzel!). After the battle, it's discovered that Anklosuar was just a distraction, and that Armadillo, Lazer, and Mechassasin, calling themselves "Heavy Metal", robbed the First National Bank. ISSUE TWO- The Champions find Heavy Metal's whereabouts, where Foxbat and Bulldozer are trying to get in the group (they are denied because they don't have armor). The Champions call the players in for backup but by the time they arrive, Heavy Metal is gone, and only Foxbat (who immediately flees) and Bulldozer is remaining. Bulldozer will hint at the tryouts by saying "I didn't want to team up with those wimps anyways". Meanwhile, Cateran is trying to take advantage of the situation by breaking into a local museum to steal some historical artifacts. ISSUE THREE- Foxbat realized the only way he could join Heavy Metal was to make his own powered armor suit, so he builds one, called the Foxbat Super Cool Combat Suit. Add these powers to his set: Armor GO!: 60 point compound power: 30 STR, 15 BODY, 15 CON, all OIF(Foxbat Super Cool Combat Suit) and No Figured Tonka Tough!: 15 point Armor 10/10, Hardened, OIF(Foxbat Super Cool Combat Suit), Activation Roll 12-, Real Armor WHEE! : 10 point Flight 10'', END only to Activate, Fuel Dependant (Once every 6 hours, very common (gasoline)), OIF (Foxbat Super Cool Combat Suit), Extra Time (Delayed Phase Only To Activate) The Amazing Foxbat Beach Ball Cannon: 16 Point EB 5d6, NND (Any form of PD), 8 Charges, Can Be Missile Deflected, OIF (Foxbat Super Cool Combat Suit). Foxbat decides to prove he's worthy of joining Heavy Metal by going after Grondd. Fortunately the beach balls are totally harmless, and Grondd thinks Foxbat is merely playing catch. Once Foxbat tries to punch Grondd... well, it won't take Grondd very long to take down Foxbat. Grondd will be pretty upset too, so the heroes will need to calm him down. Meanwhile, Heavy Metal see Foxbat playing with Grondd on the news and try to rob a jewlry store... only to find that GRAB are there too. They'll manage to corner GRAB and if the playerss can't intervene, will put all the members (Except Chershire Cat who escapes at the last second) in intensive care. ISSUE FOUR- Foxbat finally convinces Heavy Metal to let him join (actually, Foxbat keeps asking them until they agree just to shut him up). They kidnap teen hero Decibelle and use her as bait for the heroes for the climatic final battle between Heavy Metal and the players. If things are going badly, Lazer and Mechassasin's egos will get the best of them and they'll start fighting each other, hopefully giving the good guys the opening they need.
  21. Re: So I'm working on a possible future campaign... Hm, makes sense, and that means I don't *need* to make as many homebrew NPCs. So far I've decided to bring in a slightly weaker Black Harlequin, and have a homebrew 'good guy' group made to either rival or replace LIBRA. Also got a few 'slightly superpowered' NPCs in mind (as the idea of the campaign is supers exist but they don't have world-threatening powers).
  22. Some of the people in my current L5R gaming group have expressed an interest in a Champions/Dark Champions game, and if we decide to do that, I plan on doing a hybrid (possibly DC:TAS) of the two. I have two major canidates for the location: Chicago and Hudson City. I also have considered other places: Miami, Florida and it's surrounding area (specifically my old hometown of Hialeah), Las Vegas, Tokyo, Prauge and London. I already have an idea for how the group gets together, by joining an underground vigilante group. I also have a few homebrew enemies/organizations in mind (and may also use at least one from the standard Champions universe). Now, as I've never run a modern-day setting campaign (I did run a one-shot d20 Modern session, though), is there any advice or ideas any GMs can give me? Anything is appreciated.
  23. Re: Forth wall perception? "Action is his reward." - Old school Spiderman theme. That being said, yeah, just about any real-life costumed hero would probably be put in a rubber room, if not jail. Not to mention the only person who could feasibly pull it off is a reclusive millionaire. Which is why Batman is one of my favorites, he's the most 'real' hero in the DCU. Same with Punisher (who IMO is even more 'real'). It's not too far of a stretch to imagine a guy who would fight crime in their respective ways. Would they have long careers? Doubtful. Would the media do their best to turn them into bad guys? Most likely. But hey, in a world where guys in bright spandex shoot laser beams at 600 foot aliens who plan on devouring the earth, and in a world where Squirrel Girl can defeat Thanos, and returning from the dead is a seemingly everyday occurrence (no matter how shocking it is to onlookers) realism is all relative.
  24. Re: Villain Campaign: need help Not much for me to add what hasn't been added. Remember this: Just because your PCs are villains doesn't mean you have to limit your combat to the heroes. Also, even 'sociopathic' or otherwise misanthropic villains can function with a group. Some of you may remember my Geisteskrank villain from my Cabal of Nightmares group. I originally made him as a CE D&D character. He cared nothing for the group's needs, and would have killed all of them in their sleep if it suited him (he had a healer, and two of the other characters were princes. Besides, there's lots of good bodies to make zombies out of). His reason for staying with the group? Good for his neck, good for coming up with what he needed to revive his love, and simply more convienent in the short and long run. Plus he got to kill people, always a plus. Really, all you need is a simple "You betray us, we ALL kill you" pact. A good group of villain roleplayers will live by the pact and will kill a traitor without hesitation. A bad group will all betray each other at once and end in a clusterfarce.
  25. Re: Forth wall perception? Actually, I think of this and besides the awesome Deadpool and Foxbat, I think of Red Mage from 8 Bit Theatre. While RM was no superhero, he had a special ability: "The Rite of Stat-Swap" which gave him the power to change his character sheet and thus boost his abilities. Consider this: A VPP that only allows Self-Only Transfers (or a Multipower/EC with only Self-Only Transfers), called "Stat Swapping". There's an OAF involved ("Character Sheet"), as well as Gestures (Changing stats on the sheet) and possibly Incantations ("I hope the GM doesn't see me doing this!"). Other than that, I agree that giving him RPG Awareness DOES allow a lot of Metagaming, but it won't be so bad if the other characters play it off like he's babbling nonsense. ("Don't worry Amazing Boy! It's only an NND he can't do BODY to you!") Psychological Limitation: Believes He Is In An RPG, and Reputation: Nutjob are good Disads for the character as well. If the Metagaming is a problem, here's an idea to balance it... 25-Point Psych Limitation: Randomly Talks To Himself. Mechanically, this makes any OOC speak other than direct combat/skill declarations be IC speak at GM's discretion.
