  2. Re: WWYCD Genocide - or Genocide? Isn't there a bit of difference between "coming up" and placing the character in a situation where for session after session the character is going to be entirely hamstrung by their psych lim?
  3. Re: WWYCD Genocide - or Genocide? However a small group of superheroes can't generally kill an entire species or even a superpowered army either. You'll have to look for their master "off" switch.

  5. Re: Name help...Queen of the Jungle! Gertrude, Queen of the Jungle! Wait, nobody would ever call a jungle queen that, right?
  6. Re: Military SF Character Stereotypes ? The chaplain inspired by Father Mulcahey.
  7. Re: WWYCD Genocide - or Genocide? I shall weave flower garlands and give peace a chance.
  8. Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it... When Darkness Falls, the final book in the "Obsidian Trilogy" which pretends that Mercedes Lackey had something to do with writing it, but was really written by James Mallory. I love his portrayal of elves from their etiquette to the fact that they gave up the ability to do magic in order get their long lifespans.

  10. Re: Not the Dark Age -- the Dork Age! 'Nuff said.
  11. Re: Istvatha V'han - why can't she conquer Earth? I wouldn't be surprised if all she controlled was single world from each universe, and loosely at that. Unless of course the whole universe is smaller than an earthlike world. People who travel sideways rarely travel outwards.
  12. Re: WWYCD: Out of Focus, in the know TN Lung: Would regard it as one of those incomprehensible alien quirks of humanity and would innocently mention their spirit companions in casual conversation. Riptide: Would zip down the coast to check out whether other cities were the same as this one to his eyes. Then probably seek out a mentalist. The Wizard of Oz Incorporated: Would assume this is exactly what it appears to be, and start working on a device to allow himself to interact with these creatures and their devices. Hellfire would just plain freak and start trying to attack the phantoms, fairly quickly ending up locked up.

  14. Re: Calling all lawyers--Supers and unique legal issues Wouldn't matter unless he established that he was sending them somewhere livable, ideally by producing him again. People can be and are convicted for murders in which the victim actually vanished without a trace. This is no different. To use such a defense reverses the onus of proof. He must prove that he kidnapped the victim, or the victim will be presumed dead. After all, someone who is teleported into space is no less dead most of the time.
  15. Re: Disney Princesses Depends on the myth. In some versions of the stories, the reason for changelings is so fairies can dump their extremely elderly grandparents on someone who will take care of them in their final days. In others they may be ageless but that doesn't make them unkillable. Then there's issue of whether a fairy godmother is really a fairy. In the Fairy Godmother series, they are humans who get magic power from the fairies in return for playing their role in stories.
  16. Re: Disney Princesses OK, so how about this: After Cinderella's Fairy Godmother died, she found she'd inherited the wand. However so far all she can do with it is change into costume and set things on fire. When Aurora learned that things she'd been dreaming about were actually coming true, she discovered the true reason why Maleficient cast that spell on her. She was using Aurora's prophetic dreams in an intricate and extremely slow scheme to take over the world. Ariel learned self-transformation magic so she wouldn't have to be separated forever from her family and now she can change herself into any creature that dwells in and over the sea. Belle decided to fight evil with her father's inventions becoming the Invincible Iron Belle. She wonders how it is that people keep figuring out her secret identity. Snow White simply used her innate power of command over animals. Mulan is the team martial artist/weapon user. Jasmine was turned into the new occupant of the lamp thanks to a trick by Jafar who decided that it was much better to control a genie than to be one. Anyone who holds the lamp can command her, but Jasmine quickly mastered the art of making wishes backfire on bad people. Bye-bye Jafar. (Hey, she's dressed for the part.) Esmeralda is another martial artist with more of an emphasis on acrobatics and stealth.
  17. Re: Disney Princesses Cinderella: Make her a anime magical girl? Costume change was a big part of her thing. Her fairy godmother could give her superhero costume complete with a magic wand.
  18. 19. In 1939, how did movie cameras work? Were they wind-up or did you have to keep cranking them continuously? And yes, this is for a game.
  20. Re: Currency . . . of the Future! I do not believe that anyone would want to pay to lift currency into space and space is not particular good for plastics manufacturing until you get out to Jupiter. It's more likely they'd just go with thumbprint debit.
  21. Re: Why would I put Fast Draw on a superheroic character?
  22. Re: [WIYCT] Icons Hnh. Hellfire was iconic for intensity. She was bad tempered, wildly romantic, and religious. The Wizard of Oz Incorporated wasn't any kind of icon. Riptide was something of a trickster figure I suppose. TN Lung was something of a messianic philosopher (to the point of sacrificing his life to make a philosophic point).
  23. Re: What if: Japan won World War 2? Given that it's a superhero universe it isn't really impossible for the Japanese to win. Give them superpowerful espers or an invincible robot and it can be done. But in order to set up a Manchuoko-style satellite nation the United States should probably be a less cohesive nation with a weaker sense of identity in the first place. I suggest having a Second American Civil War during the Great Depression. Blame it on Huey Long and the Businessman's Plot.
  24. Re: What if: Japan won World War 2? What kind of government do you want the US to have? I think the most extreme possible case for a Japanese victory is "The United States yields Hawaii, and has some very unfavourable trade terms imposed on it." It might be amusing to have a coastal city run by the Japanese ala British Hong Kong.
