  1. Re: Hard Science Help That's very problematic. FTL communication would send back into the past of whichever side was recieving the message or something.

    Oracle.

Re: Oracle. Oracle: I predict you will be ripped limb from limb by an irritated Oracle!

    Oracle.

Re: Oracle. Well, one bit of trivia concerning the Oracle of Delphi is that she got her "powers" by inhaling fumes that were supposedly the product of the incredibly slow process of decay from the rotting corpse of the "Python" Apollo slew in order to take over the sanctuary. Which is why she's called the Pythia. This is presumably a mythologised version of the cult of Apollo taking over a temple originally consecrated to a chthonian deity. But it offers the prospect of the Pythia turning into a giant snake or summoning a giant snake, or maybe a dragon.
  4. Re: Population Of Island Three Colonies Rotating surfaces are changing their velocity every moment, and the farther you are away from the axis the worse it gets. But he's right. A counter-rotating docking wheel would solve the problem.
  5. Re: Design Challenge: The Internet Chuck Norris Take the highest PRE in your campaign. Add 30 to it. That's Internet Chuck Norris. It doesn't matter whether he can really do those things, as long as he's so impressive that anyone else who sees him will believe it.
  6. Re: Space 1999 aka Space 2099 Why does it keep showing up near "interesting" places? That's my biggest problem with the Space 1999 premise. Who's steering this thing?

    Goth

Re: Goth Her mom the stripper is that tough?
  9. Re: Horror Hero Without the Supernatural Not that Hannibal Lector is any more real than they are.

  11. Re: Alternate Earth #25: What's up, Doc? So, no change then?
  12. Re: Population Of Island Three Colonies Yeeeah. I'm wondering how they could accomodate the necessary space vessel traffic for a population that large.
  13. Re: Alternate Earth Characters #12 The Wizard of Oz Incorporated would be one of those Clan of the Cave Bear people who invent fire, the wheel, and the bow and arrow all in the same year. He has a particular genius for setting snares and other traps Hellfire is worshipped because she can start fires for the tribe. They say she stole fire from the Thunder Spirit and carries it in her heart. Riptide ain't so pretty since he's a scaley aquatic intelligent dinosaur. Poet is a shaman.
  14. Re: Tac-nukes vs. Nuclear Warheads But that offers a pretext for the scene where in order to sneak up on someone you take your interior temperature down to the minimum possible and then go to "silent running" by making your final manuever, and then coast for hours as the ship slowly and steadily heats up until, by the time you are ready to launch your surprise attack, everyone's in their underwear like in that Kraft Dinner ad where the dorks use their dorm radiator to prepare their meal.
  15. Re: WWYCD (kind of): Advice Time for Scarlet! Riptide: Look, I always thought maintaining a secret ID was too much hassle to bother with. But...I don't pack any weapon except my powers and my killer good looks. Won't you be giving up an edge just so your parents can start backseat driving your life again? You might not like it that they've written you off as someone to live vicariously through, but are you going to like it when they start pulling that stage momma c*** again?
  16. Re: What about a Space 1999 Hero Space 1999 had the silliest mode of interstellar propulsion imaginable. On the whole I'd say it would be better for the aliens to come to the moon base rather than vice versa.
  17. Re: Is there a 'random alien race generator' anywhere? Yeah, but second-hand copies of Uplift are scarce commodities and the same basic system is in the new Space.
  18. Re: WWYCD: "He'll be back." I find the difference between myself and myself at puberty to be much smaller than the described difference and it didn't happen instantaneously. When I was an adolescent I lost my temper more easily but I spent almost all of my time not having lost my temper.
  19. Re: Building John Carter of Mars I think Carter doesn't get stronger on Mars. I think Martians are just real weak.
  20. Re: Is there a 'random alien race generator' anywhere? I doubt it, but there's a rather good one for GURPS in the new GURPS: Space that could be used easily enough for Hero.
  21. Re: Setting for a "realistic" campaign in space Not having developed interstellar drive is actually the default condition. There's very little reason to expect practical interstellar travel without a superscience handwave.
  22. Re: WWYCD: "He'll be back."
  23. Re: WWYCD: "He'll be back." Hellfire does her best to reduce the "robotic hunter" to a puddle. He doesn't qualify for her Code versus Killing. Riptide thinks about it and finds something distinctly suspicious about the whole story. Once he's disabled the hunter, he'll use the team time machine to go forward and investigate the story. The Wizard of Oz Incorporated will take apart the hunter and learn from its technology. T.N. Lung will try to reason with the parties involved.
  24. Re: Help needed! Tanks should come with two kinds of ammo-loads, HE and AP. HE's for infantry and AP's for other tanks. I'd reduce the damage and add the Advantages.
