  1. "He was apparently very determined to commit suicide. He managed to tie himself to a chair, shoot himself twice, stab himself four times, throw himself down a flight of stairs, and still leapt through the window."
  2. I heard that more astronauts have come from Ohio than from any other state in the US. Which begs the question: What is it about Ohio that makes people want to leave the planet?
  3. Speaking as someone from Michigan, I approve this message.
  4. I loved Pinprick's report and will use it with proper reverence. Oh, and the hero team in question? No archer = major suckage. Maybe one day they'll learn.
  5. I'm re-reading the first Fish Guy book and decided to introduce the Miscreants in my current Champions campaign. The problem is, I don't know who all seven members are. I know about Back Block (female speedster), Body Suit (female with tattoos that come to life), Outcry (male sonic projector), and Robo-Raptor (male, cyborg with metal wings). Mention is made of a male in powered armor, and a female that Pinprick shrunk and Lady Obsidian encased in a force bubble. Presumably one Miscreant was taken out by Arctic Fox, but no mention is made of that character at all. Hermit, did you have them all named and general powers decided upon? If so, did that information survive your past computer problems and data losses? And would you be willing to share that info? I figure I can create my own versions of the characters (particularly to balance them against the seven PCs in my game) but wanted to at least pay homage to your characters. Thanks in advance for any info you're willing and able to share.
  6. And then decide that's the way to go with the next Superman movie. "Hey, he's an alien, right? Why not two heads?"
  7. That song is even better if you imagine WIlliam Shatner singing it. "Imagine. There's. No heaven. It's easy. If. You try."
  8. Agreed. But I just highlighted the text, and it became much easier to read.
  9. I enjoyed it all very much, and I agree it's a good place, and way, to end it. As to the apologies, I'm just happy you completed it, and that you were willing to share it all with us out of the goodness of your heart. Kudos, Hermit, on yet another wonderful piece of writing. Dare we hope for a Part Four, with the wedding, eventually? (You can't see it, but I'm doing some pretty good puppy dog eyes right now.)
  10. Superman's first secret base was a backroom at a playing card company. The Fortress of Solitaire.
  11. It should be noted that his agreement does NOT require Weisselberg to cooperate in the case against Trump himself, just the Trump Organization.
  12. The first three seasons of JourneyQuest, by the same folks that brought us The Gamers. I had watched it before, but picked up the DVDs at GenCon so I introduced it to my wife. Guess I forgot that Season 3 ended on a cliffhanger, so we're really hoping they release Season 4 soon.
  13. I attended. Didn't get in any LARPs, but that doesn't mean I couldn't have been exposed. Or my wife, my daughter, son-in-law, or any of the members of my weekly gaming group who also attended.
  14. Apparently, an asteroid 2.3 times the size of a dinosaur is heading for Earth. These new measurement systems have me confused. How many giraffes is that?
  15. Thereby proving my theory that Facebook is run by face-hugging acid-blooded aliens.
  16. This joke reminded me of the Chicken Cannon story.
  17. I'm reminded of the story I read online about somebody trying to prove or disproved the story about the car with the JATO (Jet-Assisted Take-Off) rocket strapped to it, being found embedded in the side of a cliff. He said he contacted somebody in the DOD to ask about the feasibility, and was later sent about 20 pages of formulae, charts, and diagrams ultimately showing that it was impossible. The writer commented how it must have taken hours for the DOD guy to research everything, make the computations, compile the data and tables, etc. adding "this is your tax dollars at work."
  18. Not quite sure I follow the logic fully. I can semi-understand (though don't endorse the argument) that the requirement to pay child support may make some men pressure woman to have abortions. However, if men *aren't* required to pay child support for the children for whom they were sperm donors, then wouldn't that be more of an impetus for women to *want* to have an abortion, rather than having a high likelihood of living in poverty?
  19. Dudes, are you two competing to see who can retell the same joke more times? 🤣
  20. I also agree strongly. When my players use Interaction Skills, I ask them to give me the gist of what they're trying to say or do, and then use that to perhaps modify the roll. Sure, we all have a laugh if the player says something ridiculous (a personal favorite was a Presence Attack: "Stop, Evil Do-Gooder!"), but the player mis-speaking doesn't mean the character did, unless they flub the roll. Regarding the puzzle / riddle thing, I admit to being guilty of using them on occasion, and try to remember to have them make a roll on an appropriate skill if the players are having trouble with it. Although I'll point out that there is something to be said for the pleasure the player gets in figuring out the puzzle / riddle themselves. I'd say to give them a chance to figure it out for themselves first, before throwing in the skill roll and hints / details / etc.
  21. For skills with Skill Enhancers, I don't think you need to spend 2 points on each of them. One point on a skill with an appropriate Skill Enhancer would give you an 11- roll in that skill, and that's no longer a Familiarity. So you could have a base 11- in each skill, and then apply the Skill Levels in all Non-Combat Skills to increase the roll. Also, FYI, according to 6E1:56, you can buy a Proficiency in a Characteristic-based Skill, giving a 10-, to which you can then apply Skill Levels. So that may be something you can use for skills that don't apply to Skill Enhancers.
  22. Try Extra-Dimensional Knockback. "I'll hit you so hard, I'll knock you into next week!"
  23. You can always go the route of the Middleman. "Oh, phooey." "Dag-diggity!" "Jeepers!" "Not a gosh darn chance in Heck." "Gob smack it!" "Dag nabbit!" "What the monkey?" "Sands of Zanzibar!" "Jumping bananas, we're in Dutch." "Sweet mother of Preston Tucker!" "Hot flaming pork buns!" "Sweet Molly Brown!" "My Little Pony!"
  24. The quote came from her victory speech. And according to the article: "The victory came just hours following the deadly massacre at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas."
