  1. Sneakers was a great movie. I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it
  2. Although, one has to wonder what would happen if Disney decided to throw Scrooge McDuck-level amounts of money at his opponent based on this.
  3. My wife bought our new puppy a toy called a "wobble wag giggle ball." It makes weird noises as it rolls around. When my daughter came by to visit and heard the ball, my youngest immediately swore and then asked, "Did you have to get something that sounds like Donald Duck having a stroke?"
  4. The totally benign, completely non-lethal cuddle-cat. (Or really anything that's not a killer. This is Australia we're talking about.)
  5. I would totally buy that car.
  6. Can't remember if I told this here before, so if this is a repeat, I apologize. I was running a Champions campaign based in New York City when 9/11 happened. My game world was very much real world history with supers added. I thought long and hard about how I was going to handle 9/11. I didn't want to be disrespectful of the first responders who gave their lives trying to save others, which I think would have been the case if the PC heroes just saved the day and stopped the planes from hitting the WTC. I also thought it would be sucky of me to have the PCs' efforts all be for naught as they tried to prevent the disaster. So I decided they weren't there that day. They were at Sanctuary (the pro-supers island in the south Pacific), with the NYC teleport portal being in the basement of the WTC North Tower. And when the first plane hit the North Tower, it also shut down the portal, so the PC heroes couldn't just teleport back home and save the South Tower. There was another (NPC) superhero team in NYC in my world: the Guardians. I decided they were caught by surprise when the first plane hit the North Tower and were helping to evacuate the North Tower when the second airliner came in. A few Guardians were outside and tried to stop the plane but were unable to do so. In the end, all but one of the Guardians died either trying to stop the second plane, or were killed when the towers collapsed. (In later game sessions, I had an adventure where the PC heroes helped that NPC hero get over his survivor's guilt, though to be honest I don't really recall the details of that.) Meanwhile, on Sanctuary the heroes saw the news about the first plane hitting. They couldn't teleport to NYC, but there was a teleport portal in LA, so they went there, and then started heading across the country to get back to New York to help out however they could. Along with pretty much all the supers who were at Sanctuary at the time. As they crossed the country, they were joined by other supers from cities across the country (both heroes and villains). Old animosities were set aside for the greater good. When they got to Manhattan, the supers did what they could to search for survivors, help the injured, and so on, alongside the police, firefighters, and other people. It may not have been the best possible way to handle it, but I think it was at least respectful of those who lost their lives and those who responded to the tragedy as best they could, without making the PCs be completely ineffective.
  7. "Hey, Abby, Abby, come on, now, the FBI'd give him twins!"
  8. I took a polygraph once... but they made me return it.
  9. You're absolutely right! He's definitely Team CS!
  10. You're a class act, DT. Even if you have flaming eyes.
  11. Okay, so my picks: Costa Sagrado: Lady Obsidian (team leader) Pinprick Eel Valerosa Aspirant Pogo Trailblazer Port Cascade: Tornado (team co-leader) Brazen (team co-leader) - Great idea, Tom Arctic Fox Hussar - though if Brazen is a brick, Hussar might strike out on his own Bramble Viewpoint (given his antagonistic history with Arctic Fox, I'd think this could add some "fun" to the PC team) Solo or auxiliary status: Slime (I see him as having been filling in at Lady O's request but not needing to be on a team) Mayo (though he'll be a frequent auxiliary member of Costa Sagrado)
  12. You mean he hasn't already? I'd have guessed one was included among the other atrocities. I had a coworker who seriously insisted that the coyote really was a genius, and he just kept getting screwed by ACME.
  13. I think Tornado and Brazen as co-leads makes a lot of sense. And as to the Trailblazer / Eel comment, I like the way you think and would like to subscribe to your newsletter. Edit to add: The Aspirant / Pogo comment makes a lot of sense, and I'd personally like to keep both on Eel's team, with the hope that there will be a Part 4 someday. After all, we've got a Super Wedding coming up, right? (evil grin) Y'know, Hussar needs a ranged attack. Nothing saying that can't be a bow with trick arrows, so the PC team won't suck.
  14. I think the first thing needed is a team leader for Port Cascade (PC). Since it's been stated that it's not going to be Eel or Valerosa, and most likely not Lady Obsidian**, it's got to be one of the other experienced heroes (or heroines). Tornado Pinprick Arctic Fox Viewpoint Slime Mabel / Brazen I'm thinking Tornado might be a good pick, though I could be swayed to Viewpoint. To me, Arctic Fox isn't as much of a people-person and leader type, and Pinprick seems to be the Guy Friday to Lady Obsidian. I can't really see Slime as leader, and though Mabel has plenty of experience, very little of that is actually out in the field as Brazen. ** It's not explicitly stated that Lady Obsidian is staying in Costa Sagrado (CS), but she does say she's not giving up Eel and Valerosa, so the implication is that she's staying in CS. Regarding the others, I'll provide more input in a bit, but wanted to suggest that Bramble might be better off *not* being in the same team as Lady Obsidian, so she's likely off to Port Cascade - which luckily has a nearby university with a good Botany program. Also, the new team needs a brick, so Hussar most likely goes to PC. And if Tornado goes to PC, I'd suggest Trailblazer (as the other speedster) stays in CS. Dude, condolences on the laptop. IIRC, this isn't a unique occurrence for you. I hope you had good backups this time around.
  15. "Yes, but in my universe Chris Rock is played by Will Smith, and Will Smith is played by Chris Rock."
  16. Not background, but has some interesting facets: Chaotic Shiny - Modern Character Generator There are a number of Fantasy NPC character generators out there (albeit for D&D, but you can always just ignore the stats) - again not really background, but may provide interesting facets of NPCs: Chaotic Shiny - Character Generator NPC Generator donjon; 5e Random Generator (bin.sh) RPG Tinker - D&D 5e NPC Generator Found this and thought it was interesting: Auto Roll Tables
  17. It's listed in Champions: New Millennium, at a cost of 2 PP per Mach up to Mach 4 (atmosphere) or Mach 10 (space). Given that Energy Blast is 1 PP per die, that 2 PP would convert to 10 points per Mach. Though I admit I know nothing about Fuzion rules.
  18. Why is it that every time I see the mention of Donbass in regards to the Russian invasion, that my brain automatically replaces "on" with "um"?
  19. Many thanks to Bazza for the Darwin Awards nominee series.
  20. But it's Ohio, so... Now, if it was Florida, there's be no worries about harshness. Something needs to be done about Florida Man.
  21. No need to get all sedimental about it, L. Marcus.
