  1. Re: When sfx lie This reminds me of Robotech's SDF-1 Trackball controlled Pintpoint Barrier
  2. Re: Firearms in fantasy? Iron Kingdom is a nice fantasy setting with LOTS of guns... and Weird Magic Guns are Lethal... but things are offset by loading time and the COST of the rounds (had a player crying every time he shot: " 12 GP... 12 GP..." That was because in the IK background, the "Blasting Powder" is an alchemical substance that took a long time to create and a Quartel is controlling it's creation/distribution/sale
  3. Anyone eager for the Iron Sky movie? (From the makers of the Star Wreck spoof)
  4. Re: Hero System Good Idea/Bad Idea... Just to add to the "musical HERO" bad ideas: Sousaphone Hero
  5. Re: Announcing Kazei 5, Second Edition I second that!
  6. Re: Hypothetical Astronomy: The Rings of the Earth Aye! Tidal forces are stronger the nearer you are...
  7. Re: BOOM Table vs HERO You might want to take shelter while lighting the fuse...
  8. Re: What if Earth had rings like Saturn? We're in the good road to have "rings" made of Thrash
  9. Re: A Question of Balance & Lethality Well, it could make an interesting Baddy for the group... where they have to take him out WITHOUT going directly against him.. A bit like putting a Dragon in many other RPG Games... you simply wanna bash on it??? You're toast!
  10. Re: A Question of Balance & Lethality Yeah... they tend to ban my Rods of Nuclear Detonations and my pet Turbonium Dragon...
  11. Re: A Question of Balance & Lethality That is a MUST now... cut down time to build anything, and has most big nasty bugs squashed... if you KNOW what you want, you do not even have to crack open any books

  14. Re: A Storeowner's First Impression Are you gonna Hug 'em & call 'em Georges? Damned, I'm still waiting for mines...
  15. Re: A Question of Balance & Lethality Hi Peter... First of all... your pic seems familiar... are you "The" Peter that was working at Le Valet d'Coeur years ago? If not, then.. well.. you look a lot like him It's hard enough to find decent RPG players in Montreal these days, with all those WoW addict and others with no attention span for anything more than TCCs... I've played HERO a LONG time ago, when I was in Highschool... then dropped off (or more accurately, WAS dropped off by that particular group) and I could never find any other players willing to even TRY Hero... Well.. I've finally managed to convince my current RPG group to switch to Hero (with the help of another player) because we were tired of trying to having to fit round pegs in square holes... trying to make our character concept match the rules/settings (that's what 6 years of bi-monthly Mage:The Ascension does to a group!) Anyway... I'm currently working on building the groundrules for an Iron Kingdom based Fantasy HERO game and trying to find any scraps of info that would help... SIMPLE info that I can give to newbies of HERO... so I'll take a look at your homebrew rules, and don't mind if I steal some of them too!
  16. Re: A Storeowner's First Impression So much that a fellow gamer is calling it "Java: The Roleplaying Game"
  17. Re: Another view of Damage Negation (6e) whew... just got through the whole discussion... I just have to say that DN is a quite elegant way to model low level resistance to something... In a Fantasy game where you have a race that is more resistant to poisons/fire/cold/whatever that the norm, throwing a DC or two of DN is a nice way to let it ignore *some* of the damage unless it goes over a certain threashold. Say, someone playing an Ice Troll that could be hurt by INTENSE/Magical cold, but would be quite at home at -15C, while the rest of the group has to wrap up or suffer from the elements. IMHO, It's just setting the threashold of "damage" a higher than normal.
  18. Re: Regression of Interstellar Civilizations This is what made me think about GRBs
  19. Re: Regression of Interstellar Civilizations Also general dumbing down of the Masses, such as "The Republic of Heaven" in the Honor Harrington series. Only wanting to be on the Dole and having the RIGHT to be on it, less and less want to work, less and less want to learn how things works. they have to get "black box" doing stuff so they can be successfully replaced by incompetent... When only a few at the top is near the cutting edge and 99.99% of the rest is wayyyy down the ladder, it can crumble easily.
  20. Re: Regression of Interstellar Civilizations Gamma Ray Burst (not to close tho)
