  3. I'm in the early states of cooking up a Tokusatsu based setting. (For those who arn't in the know: tokusatsu is the genre of live action shows that gave birth to Ultraman, Kamen Rider, technically Guyver, and Sentai/Power Rangers shows.) The most recent shows of Karmen Rider and Sentai have crossed over in a cool multidimentional program called Kamen Rider Decade. I like that the Rider style character can work welll with the Sentai team characters. Even humorously to some extent. This gives me hope I can run a Sentai team and have perhaps a Ultraman team-up w/a Rider. (With out the silly growing Rider bit from the offical cross over. ) At any rate, I'm fielding a few ideas for something/someone dangerous enough to challenge a group of Toku action heroes. I could go the Dai-Shocker route and make a Cobra like organization that is responsible for the majority of the Toku types. Or I could do a merged origin to allow for dark and brooding Riders against their creators teaming up with nationalized defenders using alien technology. It's very much like cooking up a Supers setting, but there are some serious differences in tone and thematics. More as I think of it. If anyone has some cool thoughts, please post them here. I'll continue to work through the rough process of forming a setting.

  6. Case in point: I once had a matter surfer fella by the name Skurf. He was the Skater God who left behind permenant slabs of delicously skateable concrete behind him as he went around the city. He made his own skate parks and he could move VERY fast on the ground and it cost him little END. Needless to say County Road workers hated him. Well Skurf and crew get caught in a small alien ship in low orbit. Turns out they have enough fuel for a landing but not enough to break orbit. I ask the GM if my insta-pavement counts as propellant? The GM laughs and says ya. So Skurf dons an alien space suit and puts board to feet outside the ship while bracing up against it. He turns his concrete making powers up to full and proceeds to blast out highway sized chuncks of concrete as he pushes the little craft away from orbit hight back to reentry. To this day I can only imagine look on the NORAD operators face when something roughly the size of say US1 appears in orbit as Skurf puts his all into long range space skating.

  10. Re: Any plans for a HERO Players Superteam once game is released? I may make a Luchadore hero for the HERO Games people I play with. Have to do rounds in the HERO Games arena in CO to get the Lucha toys, but oh well.
  11. Re: What is your plans for your first 6th Edition game? Well the basic theme is they've been dead for 6 months-5 years hense. They may have spotty memory of who they are, what happened to them (to get them killed), etc.The 'fresher' the better the memories. I'm just taking opinions. I'm going to offer them to my potential PCs and see what catches. All 3 have things I like. That's why the quandry.
  12. I'm in a quandry. I want to run a 6th Edition game. Especially something to lure in new players. I'm mulling over 3 options. 1. A Tokusatsu HERO style game with Masked Rider/Sentai style character fighting Yoma in Neo Tokyo style setting. 2. My "Lazarus Project" game about people coming back to life...with superpowers and the secret socities that wish to control them. 3. A Modern Monster Hunter Agency style game. A touch of the Urban Fantasy Hero theme with Psi/Magic/Monsters. Any ideas? Thoughts? What about you? What is your hopes for your 1st HERO6 game?

He'd doubt she's the one who did this to 'her', but Mom's canny about fixing this kinda stuff. Brand X - "You mean it's tied to my genotype? What the hell were the scientists that made me thinking? Can we get me down to the lab and run some samples? Maybe we can fix this with out the power loss. My DNA is custom, but I think it might be some retro virus attack." Zoner - Whoa, he's never seen one of his hosts do that! Umm. Well, I guess he could find another, but this might be fun.

  17. In essence if you downloaded from FilePlanet (and eveyrone did) do the following after it decompresses. If it seems like it's trying to patch the whole 3 gigs then... 1. Delete everything inside the Program Files/Cryptic Studios/Champions Online/Live/piggs folder. 2. Move all the *.hogg files from Program Files/Cryptic Studios/Champions Online/Live to Program Files/Cryptic Studios/Champions Online/Live/piggs 3. Restart your patcher Also, the patch server goes down...A LOT. They're having monsterous server issues. If your patcher just lags, and lags, and lags, stop it, restart to see if the patch goes again...but every server on Cryptic side went down a short while after this post drops. So, ya. Beta day patch issues. natch.
  18. Re: 6E Rules changes confirmed so far I fight tooth and nail in my area to get more HERO games going. For a while I was a GURPS crusader...but I just feel in love with HERO's mechanics from 4th Edition on. (Though it did take me 5 years to grok the thing.) I plan on running demos, Con games, anything to get people interested.
  19. Re: It's the Little Things.... It's little glider wings on a suit, Just enough to allow you to direct 'where' you fall, not how fast you fall. I can see characters with Athletic using this. Especially if they have a grapnel or the such.
  20. Re: So many questions... Remember, don't be afraid to build it the way you want to. Experiment. Then post your build here. You'll get differing opinions and just use what you like. The beauty of HERO is it has some wiggle room for build logic. If the GM is okay with the build, your golden. If not, ask around, there are loads of ways to do what you want.
  21. Re: Any plans for a HERO Players Superteam once game is released? I wish you could be the member of multiple Superteams. It would be revolutionary and allow me to team with multiple friend groups at once.

  23. Re: Magical Engineer Commandos Mr. R, It's not exclusive to D&D. I've played GURPS and HERO where the MEC effect happened. It's the mentality of the players and how they come into the world. My local players do this in about any game we do. To a point. We ran a Pulp Hero game and we were really disfunctional, but that's because we built ourselves that way. In old Champions parlance, the PC's are all Pro's from Dover so to speak.
