  1. Re: Challenge: deisgn the Machinist's pals... That's because they bought two different versions of takes no Stun. Here are the rules on it: TAKES NO STUN Cost: 45 Character Points to take only BODY and to lose abilities each time an attack does BODY; 60 Character Points to only take BODY As you can see, the 45 point one means a bashed up robot deals less damage then a non bashed up one, due to circuit frying and the sort. 60 character points are more advanced so obviously don't suffer from it.
  2. Re: A "bat-like" character Seriously, I would recommend not getting characteristic maxima as a disadvantage, since there are a lot more disadvantages you can use in place of it, that will make your character a more competent opponent in the long run. For advice look at NightHawk in Champions or News of the World 25th adition. Both have a very batman like character, who never has Characteristics Maxima. However if you are running a pulp or other heroic game, Characters Maxima is probably not an accepted advantage, because almost everyone would have it.
  3. Re: Call for Replacements I realise my character sheet hasn't been up for the general public yet, so I have put up a version for anyone to see online: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dqkbtr2_0xd8qbhfv Here is his backstory, which isn't written up. Born shortly before the Inferno Incident (see here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inferno_(Marvel_Comics)), He was given the name of his godfather, Kent Nelson aka Dr Fate. During the Inferno Incident Dr Strange and Dr Fate both took down hundreds of Demons before Dr Strange concucted a plan to close the gate, after Illayna refused to close it herself. While Dr Fate distracted the demons S'ym and N'astirh, Dr Strange would force the gate closed himself, using his incredible will power and strength. However since it was mutant and demon powers he was dispelling it (Illyana had mutated into a demon before creating the gate) he would be very weak and need a lot of time to close the gate. The plan was working and the gate closed slowly but steadily, and the number of demons reduced until it all went wrong. Dr Strange' arch rival baron Mordo arrived and attacked Dr Strange from behind and caused him to lose control of the spell. The gate then proceeded to draw him into the portal, and Duke Mordo laughed in glee. But as a last act for the world Dr Strange used him magic to grab Mordo and dragged him into hell alongside him. As the gate closed behind them, Magik resumed control of her body and the two Demons S'ym and N'astrih, their plan foiled, disappeared into smoke. However it was not a time for rejoicing for the Strange family, and young Kent Strange grew up under the tutalage of Dr Fate, who trained him in the arts and acted as Sorcerer Supreme until Dr Strange was old enough to take his position. Since then he has fought numerous demons and other worldly threats alongsde his faithful man servant Wong Hamir. Powers and tactics: A master of magic he can use numerous spells and creates new ones all the time to combat various threats. He usually stays long distance away and strikes from a far, using his cloak to teleport from location to location, And absorbing enemy magic for his own spells but he is no wimp to hand to hand combat. He has trained in Martial arts under Wong for if his magic ever failed him. One of his greatest gifts is his knowledge of vast subjects iinvolving but not limited to most forms of magic. He is also a trained paramedic and well versed in languages (most dead but still). And his knowledge will only continue to grow as time goes on. Any thing else you need to know, just post here or PM me.
  4. Re: Ratchet & Clank HERO? Well the game probably would have to be heroic, unless you want Ratchet to have a huge VPP for all his weapons and gadgets. This way he can just pick up weapons and gadgets he finds and use them. I would think Star Hero would be almost essential for this kind of game. how many points do you guys think? powerful Heroic (100 base, 100 disadvantage) or very Powerful Heroic (125 base, 125 disadvantages)? What would Captain Quirk's powers be? "The power to be the world's best suck up!" How did he ever become the Galaxy's 'greatest' superhero? I might make character sheets, But the weapons would be difficult. Which games are we talking? It would help narrow down the sheer number of gadgets?
  5. Re: Challenge: deisgn the Machinist's pals... Maybe one of the bots would be a helper bot like in hero system beastiry page 208, for when he doesn't feel like cleaning the Base or needs a bartender for those big formal super hero galas. it only costs 199 points so you should be fine.
  6. Re: Theron's Bay City Mash-Up Thank you. You have been Repped.
  7. Re: Calling the Discussion Board's Most Awesome Creations! Hey cool, but a question, where are these links? I searched but I can't find the Batman re-imagined thing anywhere?
  8. Re: Brainstorming: Enforcers of the Scarlet Moon (spoilers below) Hey, I know at the rate we are going Lord Liaden won't be able to go through all this, but I have 2 more to offer. I thought them up after some studying: Eric Rundell: An orphan on the roads of Greece he was found with no memory and only a vine leaf in his hand. As he grew up he became obsessed with Dionysus, Trying to follow his more destructive side of life, the drunken angered side. In time he joined the Circle of the Scarlet Moon, and became a very high member. He didn't have a lot of magic, a few ritualistic spells but not much. One day however he discovered a spell that allowed him to contact the realm of the Ancient Greek Pantheon. Using the spell he entered a deep trance and went there. He found himself in a forest far larger then any on earth. But the forest was not empty. It was filled to the brim with larger then life animals, all savage creatures. He was lucky to not be eaten. He found in the forest what appeared to be a man, covered in white fur and a beard that reached his ankle. He was playing his double flute, and had a vine bound around his ankle. When he saw the man he said, "Help me, young one. I am the last Silenos, grandfather of the Satyrs. Release me from my bind and I will unleash the true potential of my liege, Oh Dionysus." Taken in by his honeyed words, Dionysus released him from the vine. The Silenos smiled and played a simple tune on his double flute. Then Dionysus started to change. He became taller, handsomer and wilder. Silenos smiled. "Now you have a form fit for your status my liege." When he awoke from his trance, he found the Silenos had followed him. With a powerful servant on his side, he easily climbed to the top and became an Archdruid. Now while he retains his mind, Dionysus (as he likes to be called now) is obsessed with his new status as a God. His powers have increased, but not much. His greatest power is his ability to enter the Savage forests and bring some creature back with him. However he is incredibly vulnerable while in the forest, his body is comatose and he can't control the creature when he comes back. But his servant Silenos would never let something bad happen to him. Would he? Silenos: Born in the age of the ancient greek gods, he served them loyally and with praise. He swore himself to Dionysus and his offspring the Saturs as his followers. Thus he was truly outraged when he saw that the Gods were leaving. They said the magic was running out here, and they could no longer control the humans. They would leave them to make their own destiny. Silenos would not accept this. His master deserved to rule these pathetic mortals. He could rule these mortals. He took his double pipe and commanded the savage men he had made to attack earth’s heroes, the bringers of the new age. But the heroes fought back valiantly and defeated Silenos. One of their priests sent Silenos to a prison realm where he would be bound for all time. The realm would be unreachable by Earth, unless somehow the magic levels returned to Ancient times. In his prison, Silenos grew angry and resentful at the humans and especially his old master Dionysus who had abandoned him. He used his pipe to make all the animals savage and dangerous, killing each other to please him. But he bored of that. He knew he had to leave, but only someone from the Mortal realm could do so. But no one was stupid enough to come here. But one did come. This foolish man, oh Silenos could tell what was on the man’s mind. He wanted power, respect. And he could tell the man understood and respected the old gods. He could use him. With his pipe he released part of the man’s savage side. And he could barely stop himself from laughing at the irony. The man’s savage side was a bull, the sign of Dionysus! Big and strong, the horns did not come but he could easily make them. Free from that realm he aids this man in his quest for power, giving him minions to fight these new heroes, just as powerful as the ones from his time but far more ridiculous. But in time Silenos’ true plan will come to fruition. He will destroy all of Civilisation and begin again with him as the new God! Powers and tactics: Silenos is very fast and wise, even for Satyrs (use the satyr in Hero system Bestiary page 112) But he posseses two adition powers in the form of his double flute. One, he can mind control all forms of wild creatures, animal or alien beast. He has another spell all Satyrs have that effect humans as well, but it is very limited in commands (Go away and forget about me, run away in fear or come and dance). But it is his seconds power which is the most dangerous. He can turn men in savage half men half animals, by releasing them from their inabitions. The animal depends on the person (joyful drinkers become Satyrs, cruel and vindictive people become harpies etc) but they do retain any super powers they once had. But they might be unable to use it, because they are far more wild and less bound by the rules. He can control these far more easily with his pipe because they are savage. (A variable transform) The spell doesn’t work on aliens and constructs because he doesn’t know the tune for that species and because constructs don’t have a ‘wild side’. A dangerous duo don’t you agree?
  9. Re: Theron's Bay City Mash-Up Wow this is a great campaign. But I have to ask, how does The Magician have all these powers? Is it a VPP or an extremly large Multipower? because there are 22 cards or the Major arcana cards.

    Bat gear

Re: Bat gear The cave. It would be the hardest to do, and most helpful for everyone else in the end. Making a Batmobile or super computer is relativly easy. It is written up in places Like Champions, and Ultimate Vehicle. The base would be the most helpful so please start with that.
  11. Re: Are Ego Attacks limited in the same manner as other EGO powers? It would be like an illusion in a man's mind, that causes him to be trapped in it. No one can help him physically, and his mind will not let him leave his entangled area. He might not even be able to teleport. Ego Attacks would do damage to this entangle though.
  12. Re: My first character (Speedster) Hey if you didn't notice, he doesn't really need that much PD or ED. HE has desolidification. It would save him from guys as fast as him. Also for your duplication thing, May I suggest you buy either duplication with the feedback limitation and make it continue to cost END, to represent moving so fast you are in several places at once. Your Rec is very good, and should help you heal faster, but otherwise just have a regeneration that costs END to use, representing you speeding up your metabolism so you heal faster. Life support Toxics should suffice for your immunity.

  14. Re: Call for Replacements Hey, I'm CoreBrute, the guy who made Dr Strange II (I think somethings got messed up in the hdc file though). Here is reasons I would like playing him. 1st. His father was killed during the Inferno event, and now he has had to work in his father's shadow. He has had the training and watching of Dr Fate, his god father but now he has the chance to prove himself with real heroes. 2nd. He is a great asset to the team because of his knowledge of matters the others don't understand, namely magic. His knowledge of lost civilisations doesn't go amis. 3rd. His general flexibilty. With his VPP he is quite capable to take on any role in the party, or adapt for any situation or enemy. I will be sending the corrected version of the character sheet to the GM, as well as posting the sanctum sanatorium up here.
  15. Re: Weapons and such You can add the powers from the lists to the VPP, like the pumpkin bomb or the utility belt's drill. You just can't have the multipowers themselves. Just pick and choose from your arsenal which you will need and use those.

    Bat gear

Re: Bat gear Oh. Then I would recommend a suppress, that has reduced Endurance 0, and can only be removed by washing off the powder. Here is an example I did in a hurry: Silicate powder: Suppress 4d6, Reduced Endurance (0 END; Remove by washing with water; +1/2), Persistent (+1/2), Continuous (+1) (60 Active Points) Not the best, but I'm not really that good with suppresses. If you don't like the idea of suppresses, Drains are the way to go.
  17. Re: Brainstorming: Enforcers of the Scarlet Moon (spoilers below) Sorry poor choice of words. I mean the translation 'valkyrie horse' meant wolf. Here is the quote: However, valkyrie horse was a kenning for wolf (see Rök Stone), so contrary to the stereotype, they did not ride winged horses. This would suggest that their mounts were rather the packs of wolves that frequented the corpses of dead warriors. They were gruesome and war-like. I apologize for the amusing blunder.
  18. Re: A campaign for my kids so... Are you still doing the campaign or have you given up on it, because of the lack of info since the last post from July. I don't mean to sound rude, it's just that this campaign sounds really interesting and I would like to know more about what happened to the teen heroines.
  19. Re: Brainstorming: Enforcers of the Scarlet Moon (spoilers below) Well certain things you should remember about them. 1. They did not ride horses. That is a myth. They rode packs of wolves. We can only assume they flew. 2nd. They possesed magical weaponry, usually a spear. For tactics I suggest they like using move throughs while on horses using the spears, but they are just as likely to throw it. 3rd. There were two types of famous valkyries. There are those who love battle and specialise in war. And there are those who know magic (which also relate to war). Decide which you think is more appropriate for the character.

    Bat gear

Re: Bat gear Wouldn't a dispel electrical attacks be the best choice? Or if it is for some kind of armour you wear that earths electricity, thus making it useless try this: Silicate pouder: Armor (0 PD/22 ED) (33 Active Points); Only Works Against electrical attacks Limited Type of Attack (-1/2)
  21. Re: Call for Replacements What is a character hook?
  22. Re: Brainstorming: Enforcers of the Scarlet Moon (spoilers below) After seeing the power of the Dark Paladin first hand, Abbot decides he needs a way to defeat such a powerful enemy. And when fighting someone from the middle ages, who better to use then another from the Middle ages? Using sources that tell of a long dead Emglish family of Mystics on rival with the Morphants of France, the Warwicks. Finding a crypt holding one of their greatest wizards, Marcus Warwick deep under ground an old manor that was in possession of one of the Circle. Reviving him to life and binding him to his will, he prooved incredibly adept at magic, using spells forgotten since the ancient days. There was only one slight problem. The Warwicks were rivals to the Morphants, but they weren't evil. They were a family of good wizards, and Marcus himself was a member of the ancient Trismegistus Council. So far this hasn't been a problem, he has obeyed his master in almost all fashions, and betraying ancient secrets of the council. But he does show more resistanse then any undead James has ever summon before, most vividly in his refusal to kill. The Circle fears what would happen if this powerful wizard managed to escape control. While visiting England on a buisness trip to further his investment branch, he found himself haunted by dreams of men in animal colts, walking among the trees. They asked him to visit the forests near Alton Village and cut down one of the branches of the tree, and planting it in grave of a great mystic and feeding it with virgin's blood instead of water. He would recive a powerful servent to aid him. Taking the branch and planting it near a crypt of the prievious Archdruid, he did this act for three months. But to his amazement, he found as he did so the branch grew into a 12 ft tall humanoid, who spoke to his master telapathicly. Finally the creature left the ground it was on, and served his master as the Trent. With the ability to control plants and brick like qualities itself, it has only helped to make it's master an even more powerful threat to to the other archdrids, as well as the world. Who the druids were, and why they have such an interest in Eric is not known.
  23. Re: Paradise City: Vampire Lines Cool stuff. Here are some plot seeds for each of the clans: Clan Set Anubis, under orders from the God Set, arrives at the Clan's door to offer an allegiance. With the power of these incredible mystic villains, what does Set have planned for the world? Clan Impaler Using their great prestige and influence, the clan manages to make a member a senator for the local state. Now with these powers, new laws and legislations are being made, limiting super human influence while also allowing the clan more benefits. Suddenly the PCs are public enemies number one. How will the PCs stop this evil influence, without getting arrested? Clan Cayce In 1965, Sebastian Poe, the founder of the criminal orginisation PSI had an older brother who was kidnapped by a man in a dark cloak. Before he had been taken, he had displayed some 'unusual abilities'. Now, more then 40 years later, PSI realises the leader of these psychic vampire looks alot like Sebastian. Realising he would be a powerful addition to the orginisation, with his alternate way of making mentalists. Is Clan Clyce's leader the brother of PSI's founder? If so he will not view the people who sent his younger brother to prison fondly. A war could break out between the vampires and PSI. If not, would the clan be interrested in joining forces with the orginisation, to improve their power in the face of the other clans? And which would be worse? Clan Vodyanoy The vampire appears in spirit form to one of the Mysticly inclined PCs. He says he was the last Archmage Bohdan Stanislavski and tells them to meet him at a certain place at a certain time. But when they go there, they are attacked by a group of Morbanes. What is going on? Is this genuine or all a trick by the vampire?
  24. Re: Brainstorm: Re-Imaginations! I'm back! And now with a version of characters...if they were in Alan More's Watchmen's universe! Hopefully this will be as worth of rep as my last one. Avatar becomes Montauk: A secret facility was built in 1940, weeks after News reports of a meteor hitting Long Island. The area was locked off from the general public. Ever since it was made rumors have been circulating of what went on, ranging from alien outbreaks to a new weapon being built to end the war against Japan and Germany. The truth was even stranger. In 1943 a piece of the sun had broken away from the star and fell towards the earth. The reason why was never uncovered but there are many theories. What was the most strange thing about this piece of plasma, was it had some how developed sentience. It responded to stimuli like voices and remembered colors. The facility was built to grow this creature as the new answer to the 'problem' of Japan. The creature was named after the facility, Montauk. The project was an even greater success. The plasma adopted the form of a man, and showed incredible strength and the ability to project plasma, make short terms replicas and fly. He was the perfect man and would be an excellent addition to the army's morale. Except for one problem. Montauk couldn't care less. The Solar creature couldn't understand these relations humans had with each other. He felt no sympathy for his replicas, they existed and then died. These humans shared a desire to help each other, but kill others. Montauk just obeyed his orders and killed as told. He was fundamental to the end of the war, managing to destroy a large portion of Japan including Hiroshima and Nagasaki, almost wiping them off the map. His power was more dangerous then any nuclear weapon. But in the 1950s, Montauk became more and more interrested in the Communism way of living. All the beings were the same and equal to the same rights. It made perfect sense to him. All the humans were the same, all different from him. They should have the same rights. He became the target of McCarthyism and finally, in a fit of unfamiliar rage the being had never felt before, he killed a group of McCarthy ralliers. The Government realised he was too powerful, and using their costumed vigilantes with special solar energy draining weapons, managed to force him to leave this planet in 1968. The world is always on guard in case he ever comes back. Miss Chaos becomes Lady Darkness: A daughter to a Mr Roger Duquesne, she was born to abuse. Her father was a pimp and a court martialed for 'sexual harrasment' of a female officer in the second World War. The truth wasn't as small as harrasment and should have got him executed. The problem was the military didn't want that kind of publicity. So he was just forced to leave. He took his anger out on his wife and eventually his daughter Juliet. A daughter who did not look a thing like him. With dark eyes and pale skin, she was clearly a product of an affair, or at least he thought so. He became deranged and eventually things became...unplesent. Night visits became a frequent occurrence for poor Juliet. Finally her mother told her the truth of her herritage. She was descended from Voodoo cultists, who used dark magic to inflict madness and suffering upon others. She taught her the dark arts and over months, Juliet became a master at it. She killed her father, using the arts to force him to hang himself, before leaving the home forever. Since then she has become a huntress of evil, and her mark upon the walls of these 'massive suicides'. Her calling card is how all the men are impaled with sharp objects, like voodoo dolls. She has worked with other costumed vigilantees. She has training in hand to hand combat, due to the fact her magic needs lots of preparation to do (ingredients, blood etc) The Stentorian became the Hoplite,: Due to the lack of mutants in this universe, Stentorian was a small time music store owner, trying to make a living for his family, all having emigrated from Greece for a better class of life. What they found was discrimination and hate crimes every night. One day he found his daughter had been brutally murdered and raped by 3 right wing extremists. His fragile mind could not take it and he snapped. He had a new personality, inspired by tales of the brave warriors of Ancient Greece who were a shield to the people. He would be the shield for the people. Later the 3 boys were found all dead, impaled by a metal pipe fashioned to the shape of a spear. The man had no idea he had done this, and it was his other personality but for some reason he was filled with pride when he saw this. The newest vigilante on the streets was born. Terminus became...Terminus works too: the All American boy, young Mark Benning, decided to serve his country and join the army. He was prepared to shoot people and defend the westerrn ways the small way he could. Then he was offered an alternative. Before going through basic training, he was told he could be a volunteer for a 'super soldier' project, that would make him an invaluable asset to the army. He naivly agreed. The 9 months that followed were the most harrowing 9 months of his life. The fi st step in the program was to provide them with basic survival and combat training. All recruits survived this stage. Th e second stage was the drug and surgery program designed to fundamentally alter the subject. The injections and toxic reactions to the implants killed five of the volunteers, leaving only one survivor: Mark Benning. The second stage encompassed the majority ofwhat was to make a Project: Superiority soldier so much better than an ordinary man. Through steroid injections and muscle grafts, Benning became immensely strong. Similar injections (and later training) increased his reflexes and stamina. Surgeons implanted specially-developed “organic plastic mesh” under his skin to give him a partial resistance to low-caliber bullets and other weapons, and a radio receiver/transmitter in his mastoid sinus so he could communicate with headquarters at all times. His digestive and gastric tracts were altered to allow him to derive nutriment from any organic substance (such as grass, tree bark, or fur) without harm. He was made able to withstand extremes of temperature and radiation. Stage three of the Project was to train Benningto use his new body and mind properly. He learned everything he could about being a soldier, from stealthy movement, to tactics, to hand-to-hand combat. Th is stage also included intense psychological conditioning to accustom Benning to his new role and ensure his loyalty. He served loyally with the army for many years, helping with the capturing of Montauk, able to lift cannons as a man would lift a heavy machine gun. The problem occured when he started having momentary lapses in his memory. The army tried to figure out what happened and feared he was short circuiting somehow from the project. They retired him early, gave him a cover identity and left him to live and die in peace. But he wouldn't go without a fight. He couldn't stand the anti-American nature of the left wingers he sees on the streets, and the imigrents sneaking into the country. "Probably to plant their bombs here." He says. So he became a vigilante, concentrating on what he calls 'anti-American' crimes. Th army has not made a move to stop him. So do you people like what I'm doing here? I won't post the rest until I've got an OK that I'm not going horribly off track with the idea of Watchmen.
  25. Re: Call for Replacements Luke Cage was a criminal, once a drug dealer. In the eyes of SHIELD/UNTIL he is a small time super villain. Or he may have done something to piss Until off in this universe I don't know.
