  1. Re: Stealth Build? Thank you, Lucius the Push-me-pull-you is quite correct, levels with Stealth cost only 2 points each.
  2. Years and years ago, your successful Stealth roll meant that you were hidden, and anyone trying to perceive you was at a -5 penalty. To simulate this old school Stealth, I'll buy 5 Levels of Stealth (15 Active Points), Only Used After Stealth Roll Is Made. What value would you give this Limitation?

  7. Re: Diagnosis: Dim Mak There is more than one correct definition for Dim Mak, and, arguably, more than one type of Dim Mak. Some types of Dim Mak may require different or additional components for best healing attempts. For example, Vibrating Palm may require a piezo element to absorb the harmful pulsing, such as Berlinite, (AlPO4), a rare phosphate mineral that is structurally identical to quartz Cane Sugar Quartz Rochelle Salt Topaz Tormaline-group minerals Dry bone, teeth (dentin and enamal) or tendon Silk Wood or various modern man-made substances
  8. Re: Super Racer... ...complete with leaded glass canopy to screen out that pesky kryptonite radiation.
  9. Re: Diagnosis: Dim Mak "Holy Aromatherapy, Batman."
  10. Dim Mak is a martial arts Death Touch, literally press artery, a blow that is fatal, sooner or later. Dim mak may treated, but not be completely cured without proper equipment, special items not usually carried by most practitioners of Eastern medicine. Such gear could include... 8 big eyed acupuncture needles wicks for the above 8 teacups, or better yet, glass tumblers Dulzuck incense The Dim Mak victim lies on his stomach. The eight needles, wicks in place, are used to penetrate his back at chi / meridian sites. The wicks are ignited. Cups are inverted over the needles. The flames quickly exhaust the limited oxygen, created a near vacuum, pulled the tissue into alarmingly large mounds, drawing yin, negative chi, away from vital points. Modern science confirms the value of some folk medicines. Inhalants have proven to be the swiftest noninvasive way to introduce a substance into the bloodstream. So, special incense is effective. This incense takes five hours to burn, and the effective ingredient is dulzuk. Dulzuck is the fruit which is reaped mainly from Paek Tu Mountain region. The scientific name is VACCINIUM ULIGINOSUM LINNAEUS and this breed grows spontaneously in the hilly areas 800 meters above sea level. People in the area surrounding Mt. Paek Tu produce the multiple foodstuffs with the blue berry dulzuck. It is consumed three times daily for health, preferably before meals. Paek-Tu Mountain (Paek-Tu San) is a disputed site between Korea and China. Chinese call it Cho Haku Zan. Koreans consider this mountain holy. Paek-Tu is 2,744 meters tall, almost as tall as Japan's Mount Fuji. It is topped by a caldera lake, "Heaven's Pond." There is a Chinese rumor of a dinosaur in the lake, like "Nessie," the Loch Ness monster. While the acupuncture technique described above, dulzuck berries and Paek-Tu Mountain are all very real, there is nothing to preclude a GM from throwing one or more fictional elements into a dim mak cure, since dim mak itself may be fictional. I dare say, should someone hit me hard enough to cause internal bleeding, and I die later, is that not a death touch? Most doctors today, and in antiquity, are not familiar with Dim Mak, even traditional Eastern healers. Here are suggested modifiers to Eastern (Chinese, Korean, etc.) Healing. · Symptoms are known to be caused by a Dim Mak blow, +1 (credit: George King, 11/14/09) Complementary Skill Rolls: KS: Dim Mak, KS: Chi, KS: Black Medicine, etc. Standard Task Resolution: 5 hours, a major operation, -0 Never treated or assisted treatment in Dim Mak, -2 Treated or assisted treatment of Dim Mak once within several years, -1 Treated or assisted treatment of Dim Mak this year, -0 Treated or assisted treatment of Dim Mak this month, +1 Unaware of the very existence of Dim Mak, -5 Never saw Dim Mak, -2 Never read extensive treatise on curing Dim Mak, -3 Of course, all mods are cumulative. In many games, the existence of Dim Mak is most secret. Contra wise, in some cinematic martial arts games, many people with white eyebrows are immediately suspect as Dim Mak practitioners. GMs who want to enforce the secretiveness of Dim Mak in period games may refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dim_mak which states that Dim Mak is fictional and cites first use in 1950s wuxia novels.
  11. Re: Club 400 Mirth I haven't seen that 30+ reference, though I'm sure you can cite it. That said, I run low-end games, and not all of them are Champions. The only Champs campaign I've GM'd in 16+ years is a recent 250pt. Golden Age WWII game. I will admit to GMing a few 350pt. tournament games. All said, I still believe if your character has remarkable (as defined by your GM, 21+?) STR, it merits pertinent written remarks in your Background. It is impertinent to suggest or imply that all martial artists have Club 400 or more remarkable STR unless otherwise noted, even in some of our superhero games.
  12. Re: Club 400 Mirth Mongols also won boxing and judo gold medals during the last summer Olympics. Given how few Mongols there are, for example, only three million Mongols live within the nation, this is awesome. So, back on track, per Rex's comment above, at least Sumo does more to imply prodigeous strength then Seeker's Comic Book Martial Arts, or simply being a Mongol using classic weapons. I'd like to see even more, especially for 21 - 60 STR.
  13. Re: Club 400 Mirth Hear, hear. Mind you, we all have room for improvement, myself included, and I appreciate gentle pointers. I'm not interested in stepping on toes. With the Mongols examples, for instance, as you may guess, I have an interest in Mongolians and ancient Mongol history. Even my Axe Hero nomenclature, see above left, is a translation of a Mongolian national hero, Suhkbaatar. So while it's true that I find many Backgrounds lacking, including Mongol Archer #2, I'm not interested in trashing those characters, I just want more satisfactory information.
  14. Re: Club 400 Mirth For clarity's sake, Mongol #2 primarily used a spear- his bow use was secondary. No remarks about the material the spear or bow was made of, either. With a 50+ STR, how often would there be a chance that said spear or bow would break from the heavy use, especially the latter?
  15. Re: Club 400 Mirth Would you agree that ideally more detail then "I studied Martial Arts" regarding one's world class or super strength be included in one's Background? Example: I put together a Mongol archer with super strength, noting his muscle attachments were very efficient, like a bear's, and he's a martial artist. Today I saw another Mongol archer build with 50 STR for Dark Champions, no notes related to STR, no martial arts. A 60 STR was proposed for him for regular Champions. IMO, remarkable STR warrants remarks, which were lacking with build #2.
  16. Re: 5ER Intercepting Fist? Bloodstone, what do you think of Penalty Skill Levels vs. Cover Maneuver for Intercepting Fist?
  17. Re: Club 400 Mirth I think you are right, and I did not remember that Club 400 was a bench press reference, not a dead lift reference, til I found sources yesterday. My bad. I have an aversion to super strength characters without good reason noted for the super strength, as I've mentioned. Arguable, the reason may be secret, ie Guardian characters from Palladium's Beyond the Supernatural. A notable offender, in my view, is Seeker, the Aussie with 25 STR. The closest we get to an explanation for the high STR is simply that he learned martial arts. Wasn't it Comic Book Martial Arts at that?
  18. Re: Club 400 Mirth Thanks, guys, many good answers here and elsewhere, though none with a suggested Limitation value, lol. A couple items relate to this question- 1) I did not remember that Club 400 was a bench press reference, not a dead lift reference, til I found sources yesterday. My bad. 2) I have an aversion to super strength characters without good reason noted for the super strength, as I've mentioned.
  19. Some martial arts, such as Jun Fan Gung Fu (Jeet Kun Do) and Bak Mai (White Eyebrows) Kung Fu are known for, among other things, an Intercepting Fist maneuver. How would you build this? Trigger or Damage Shield build costs run high, whereas 3 points for 2 Penalty Skill levels vs. Cover Maneuver may be low, given that the 4E Ninja Hero cost for Block/Strike, outlawed by UMA, is 3 points, -4 OCV, +0 DCV. What would your take be for a 150 pt. character?
  20. Re: Club 400 Mirth Wilco. It would now be good form for Starcloud to address the thread question.
  21. Re: Club 400 Mirth 400, but not on unapplicable or mostly unapplicable genres, lol.
