1. Re: 12 months 12 Characters. February The Spellcaster I like Opale's version. Here are incantations for said Spellcaster from the work of Akamatsu. Unless otherwise noted, these are from the Latin. Fragrantia floris, amicis vigorem, vitalitatem, auram salutarem refectio The fragrance of a flower, a wind that will fill my friends with energy, vitality, and health. Complete energy recovery. Reflexio "Ice Shield" to repel the attacking magic from an enemy. Frigerans exarmatio "Release freeze weapon." Without causing any frostbite injury to the opponent, freezes the things attached to the body and shatters them, disarming the enemy. Flans exarmatio "Wind flower, disarm weapon." A powerful wind removes items attached to the opponent's body. Clothing and other light things are changed into flower petals. The sole purpose is to disarm an opponent of weapons, so no matter how strong the wind is, it will not blow away the opponent herself. Aer et aqua, facti nebula illis somnum brevem. Nebula hypnotica. "Atmosphere. Water. White fog, seep. Give them repose, make them sleep." A fog that makes your opponent sleep. Nivis casus "Ice explosion." Large volumes of ice appear in the air and attacks the opponents with both frosty air and a blast of wind. Nivis casus means "avalanche." Veniant spiritus glaciales obscurants, cum obscurationi flet tempestas nivalis. Nivis tempestas obscurans "Darkness obey, a blizzard, ice and snow of the night; Blizzard of Darkness." A strong blizzard and darkness that attacks the enemy. Telepathia "Telepathic Communication." Telepathia comes from the Greek. Flet, une vente. Flans saltatio pulverea "Blow! Gust of wind! Wind Flower! Wind and Dirt, Dance Wildly!" A powerful wind. "Dance of wind blown dirt." Exerceas pontentiam "Abilities Activate." Ensis exorcizans "Evil Destroying Sword." Flans paries aerialis "Wind Flower! Wall of Wind!" Protection from physical harm by surrounding the area around you with this barrier. Deflexio "Wind Shield." Parries a physical attack. Unus fulgor concidens noctem, in mea manu ens inimicum edat. Fulguratio Albicans "A stream of light to cut through the darkness! Spring forth from my hand and throttle my enemy! White Lightning!" Wounds or kills the enemy with an intense electric shock that springs from the user's palm. Κενόтηтος ασтрάψαтω δε тεμέтω. ΔΙΟΣ ΤΥΚΟΣ "Come forth, O lightning from the void, and cut down mine enemies. Axe of Lightning!" (Greek) Interfatio "Speaking between," or "Interruption." The purpose of this prayer, then, is to disrupt telepathic communication by filling the medium across which it travels with something like static, or "white noise." Another way to think of it would be to imagine a person right next to you, shouting in your ear, while you and someone else are trying to have a conversation. Phantasmagoria (Φανασμαγορια) In Ancient Greek, Φανασμα means "illusion," while -αγορια means "movement." In modern terms, perhaps the idea would be that of an illusion projector.Φανασμα or "phantasma" itself comes from the Greek word Φαινειν, meaning "to shed light." In this case, however, it is more an illusion which one experiences fully, rather than one only seen. Ensis Exsequens "Sword of the Executioner." Meaning "executioner's sword" in Latin, the Ensis Exsequens prayer is one which instantly converts matter into a solid (or liquid into a gas) which then is conveyed via a violent phase transition to attack an opponent. An object or individual thusly phase-shifted instantly into a gas would be just as instantly vaporized. Although it may be normal upon hearing the term "vaporized" for one to expect a sudden increase in temperature, matter that is transported via phase transition actually absorbs an incredible amount of heat energy, so much so that surrounding temperatures suddenly drop. (At 1AT, a steamlike vapor with a temperature of -25°C develops.) Even if the brunt of the effect is avoided, the target still has the extremely low temperature left in its wake to deal with.

3. Re: Most PCs... Barring Limitations, you'd be right. Typically, I see Limitations with the MP, significantly altering the costs. Also, the Luck MP was all over the map, not coherent in anyone's* view except the author. *In our crew, of course.
4. Re: Most PCs... One thing that I've pointed out to our players is the Power Formats, in essence, are discounts for abilities with a shared theme. Justify your discount, or you don't get it. For the MPs and ECs, be modest with the number of slots- I prefer nine or less. One player tried to get a Luck MP approved with a dozen-and-a-half or so slots - that's excessive for me. For VPPs, I insist the slots be approved before the next game session, so that game night is not bogged down by extra math / vetting. Fudging may apply for special cases; i.e. something dramatic or petty or heroic enough.

6. Re: WuXia Adventure: The Tale of the Crocodile's Daughter Anyone bold enough to post character sheets for the above?
7. Re: The Avengers Project for Champions In addition to the other relevant replies, keep in mind my disclaimer that my version may have to be trimmed for your use, and that said 100 STR includes

Berserkergang, Megingjord - Belt of Strength, and Jarngripr: Gauntlets of Strength. If you subtract those, my Thor has a 70 STR. Have a great game!

8. Re: Passing Strike Also, a lance could be used with a Passing Strike, be the wielder a Knight, Mongol Heavy Cav or whoever. Furthermore, the U.S. footballer could have been executing a half move Running, then a Martial Throw. YMMV.
9. Re: The Chinese Eunuch and Assorted Chinese Cultural Notes I'm looking forward to role-playing the cultured, soprano voiced villainous eunuch.
10. Re: 8 Immortals NuSoardGraphite , I'd like to see more 8 Immortals campaign material, especially more on the evil eunuch - such are prominent in the upcoming campaign linked below-
11. Re: 12 months, 12 characters. January. The Speedster 18-23 STR could be explained by increased muscular development induced by the stress put on his frame by frequent high speeds (g-forces).
12. Eastern (Late) Han Era Common Knowlege Lonyang is the imperial capital of Han China. Regional rulers,in ascending order, are Wardens District Supervisor, whose constables enforce law. Prefects- a prefecture is roughly the size of an English county. Commander or King Emperor Seals of Office, in ascending order, are bronze, silver or golden, decked with black, yellow, blue or purple ribbons. Marquis is the highest of twenty social ranks, the only one that is hereditary. The top twelve ranks can only be achieved by officials. Prime Minister and Chancellor are tied for the penultimate official rank. The first eight ranks and unranked able bodied males, ages 23 to 56, must annually serve the government Labor Corps. The same ages are subject to two years mandatory military service, plus emergency recalls. Conscripts are not paid. They get room and board and use of issued gear. The military has annual archery exams. Military serviceman and veterans have KS:Signals: Flags and Fires, at cost. Land tax is 1/30th of produce, assessed by the 8th or 9th month. Landlords may charge up to half or more of yield. Poll tax- head of household, 120 coins; children ages 7 - 14, 23 coins. Slaves did not exceed 1% of the population, usually owned by the government. Their duties are varied - some of them were bodyguards. Originally these were relatives of convicted criminals who had been confiscated by the government along with their goods. Only when there was a surplus of slaves would some be sold to wealthy members of the public. In dire financial troubles, some would try to sell their children into slavery. Slave owners do not have power of life and death over their slaves. Partial List of Criminal Offenses Infringement of Imperial Majesty, such as reviling the emperor, entering the palace precincts without authorization, using that part of the main road which is reserved for Imperial passage. Interference with the Processes of Government, such as forging official documents or acceptance of bribes. Violent Acts, such as murder, assault and injury, extortion, robbery or banditry. Adultery and incest are punishable in some cases, as is failure to denounce a criminal to the authorities. Convicts serve no more than five years of labor. 13. Re: Passing Strike Picture this - Footballer (U.S. rules) Rhino clotheslines me - he races towards me, puts his arm outstretched to his side, intercepting my neck with his forearm, and down I go. Of course, there are many ways to describe a Martial Throw. I concur with the Beast.
14. Re: Passing Strike I've never had the Passing Striker take damage as with a Move-By / Move-Through. Neither have I seen it done by other GMs. I've played in two Martial Arts campaigns, Ho Dynasty and Dragon Sun Tiger Moon, and seen / used it in other campaigns, too. If Knight Ice9 strikes me with a lance, I don't expect him to take damage, too.
15. Re: Magnificent Sisters UltraRob is UltraRepped! I hope to use the Silkworm Sect in the upcoming campaign linked below.
16. Re: The Chinese Eunuch and Assorted Chinese Cultural Notes Repped. May I use excerpts on our campaign site, below?
17. Re: Wuxia Boomerang Build The game effect is that the boomerang only hits once, but may be more difficult to avoid on the return, hence I suggest buying only one Indirect attack. Let the GM decide whether the 'rang hit to or fro. Those who want a realistic 'rang only get it back right away if it hits nothing.
18. Re: The Chinese Eunuch and Assorted Chinese Cultural Notes Don't forget the Xin ('New') Dynasty AD 9 - 23 (15 years).
19. Re: Character: Red Sonya of Rogatino
20. Re: Herofist Thanks, Willow, love to see more templates. Repped. I want to modify them for use in the forthcoming campaign linked below-
21. Re: Character: Red Sonya of Rogatino Not the best example, but consider the boot camp or police rifle range- you must qualify (Weapon Familiarity) or you are dismissed from service. If you qualify very well, you may earn a Marksman ribbon (+1 CSL), Expert (+2 CSL), or Sharpshooter (+3 or better CSL). This does not include subsequent Advanced Infantry School or Special Forces or Sniper Training or on-the-job experience. My point here is, treat everything according to its own merit, and support your assertions with facts.
