Force Wall length question
Forgive me if this has been asked before, but... I'm building a Restricted Shape Force Wall that's supposed to enclose a rectangular area of 4 hexes x 2 hexes, would I be correct in the assumption that 8" length would cover that, or would I require more (or less)? Thanx.

Followup
Steve, The only question about this I could find was My question was more along the lines of a power that is half Standard effect and the other half rolled another way to write it would have been 75 15d6 EB +75 +15d6 EB Standard effect

Dodge again
The quote I was referring to was: Q:_ If a character’s DCV is modified by a Combat Maneuver, does that modification affect all attacks against him, or just HTH attacks? _ A:_ It affects all attacks, in the interest of playability and dramatic realism. A GM who wanted to emphasize real-world realism, or who wanted maneuvers to be consistent with Combat Skill Levels, could rule that they only apply to HTH or Ranged Combat, depending on the type of attack the maneuver was used to make. I hadn't seen the one you quoted. So which one is correct then?

Dodge and Martial Dodge
Given that the FAQ states that DCV mods for maneuvers apply to all attacks (HTH and Ranged), are the "vs all attacks" on the martial dodge and dodge maneuvers holdovers from earlier editions, or is there another interpretation on the rules that I'm missing?

Is this legal?
Someone just had an interesting idea on Cosmic Level games and was wondering about the general legality of it in a smaller setting If a character wants an EB where some dice use the standard effect and adds to a random roll For example 150 MEGA BLAST: 15d6 EB +45 Stun/+15 body

EC Question
With ECs and frameworks in general, there are restrictions on linking powers. 1) Suppose a EC has both Str and HKA or HA in it. Can the Str add to the HKA or HA, or is it prevented because it's really 1 single attack? 2) Suppose you have 2 separate frameworks. For example, a EC has a HKA or HA in it, and a multipower or VPP has +30 Str. Can the Str add to the HKA or HA, or is it prevented because 1 framework can't link or add to another? 3) Can you even have Str and HA as separate slots in a EC since HA is merely Str with a limitation?

Summoning Rabbits
I have a character in my game that's playing a super powered stage magician. He choose a summon power for animals with the limitation that the animal has to be able to be pulled out of his hat, typically a rabbit. I recently picked up the Hero Bestiary, and looked up rabbit. I'm a little confused at how it reads. Under disadvantages for diminutive mammal they have 40 points, but for total disadvantages it says 115, what is this total? By the way that I read the rabbit it comes out to be 48 points...which considering a human is 0 seems like alot to be able to pull one out of a hat...am I reading this right, or am I missing something?

Active point limit and xp
I was wondering, in the standard Champions campaign powers are limited to 60 active points when generated. Can this limit generally be raised with xp, or is it recommended that this cap also be imposed after generation?

Opacity
A character has a force wall that is globular and opaque to the sight sense group. If he uses this power, then is the inside of the globe: A. Dark by default, unless someone or something within it is generating some type of light B. Unaffected, since the power somehow only blocks all sight but lets light through. C. Some other option that is escaping me. - Ernie

"Alien Physiognomy"
I've seen the above phrase used in a number of characters (Vibron, for example) as a Physical Limitation, inflicting stiff penalties on rolls to provide them medical treatment and such. My question is: why would the shape of someone's head make such a difference when trying to heal them? :-) (For future reference: the word you're looking for is PHYSIOLOGY.) "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." -- Inigo Montoya, "The Princess Bride"

UAA
Can a power bought UAA still be used by the purchasing character? One of my players is making a character with "Gate Creation" powers when asked I told him I think so but I would find out for sure. (I am curious as I could not find the answerr in the FAQ or the book.)

Fractional Speed
Steve, you wrote in this forum: "It's illegal to sell them back because they don't, technically, exist -- SPD rounds down the the next lowest whole point. If he sells off another Characteristic, a character is actually losing something -- he's giving up some benefit he would otherwise have. This is untrue with fractional SPD; technically the character is giving up nothing, and it's both unfair and unbalanced to get something for nothing. As a benefit to characters, the rules let a character buy his SPD Characteristic up by paying off the fractional remainder, but that's just a courtesy." But the FAQ states: Q: If a character increases his DEX, but wants to keep …

HTH & Grabs
With a HTH Attack, do you get it's damage plus your Str damage to Squeeze a grabbed character? Do they get it when throwing the grabbed character into, say, a wall? Do they get it to resist the grabbed character breaking free? What about to break free from someone grabbing them? Thanks for your time =) ~ Zan

Duplication Duplication Duplication
I have several questions about duplication. [*]Duplicate is necessary for a duplicate to have a different appearance than the original? [*]Can adjustment powers be used to affect the number of duplicates, rather than the base points of the duplicates? Is the answer different for Gemini (who has only one duplicate) and Crowd Scene (who has 8)? [*]If the answer to 2 is yes, what happens to extra duplicates when the points that allow them to exist fade? [*]Crowd Scene's player pays 15 points so that Crowd Scene has 8 duplicates. One of those duplicates is killed in a freak bowling accident, leaving 7 duplicates. Crowd Scene's player decides to spen…

Adjustment Powers: Variable Effect
I've just started playing Hero system and have been generating characters and came across a couple rules questions concerning Adjustment powers (specifically Absorption). 1. Can you buy Variable Effect to effect both Power(s) and Characteristic(s)? ie. Flaming Strength: Absorption 4d6 (energy), affects STR, END, Energy Blast (flame FX), Change Environment (flame FX) (+1) = 40 active points 2. Ignore this if the answer to #1 is no, but if yes then how does this work with the +2 level of Variable Effect? According to the wording it looks like it affects ALL characteristics plus ALL powers within a related FX. I'm not planning on doing this, but it looks like it'…

Martial Maneuvers and high STR
I thought this would be covered in the book or the FAQ, but I haven't seen it (or overlooked it somehow). How does a character with greater than normal STR apply it to martial maneuvers like Nerve Strike or Killing Strike, *without* buying extra Damage Classes? 30 STR + Killing Strike is 1/2d6, 1d6+1, 1 1/2d6, or something else? 30 STR + Nerve Strike is 2d6 NND, 4d6 NND, 5d6 NND, or something else?

Adjustment Powers; +2 Everything?
Hello I am trying to make a character that has the power to absorb energy to become more powerful. What I am wondering is... Is there a limit to the number of powers/characteristics that can be affected with the +2 Adv.? (In particular I would like to affect Str, Dex, Con, Bod, Rec, End and Stun but that is seven slots.) I know for +1 I can affect 4 stats or powers.

Stun End Recover Aid questions
Given: When a character is rendered unconcious (negative STUN) his body's resources devote themselves to waking him back up, thus when Recoveries bring him back to consciousness (positive STUN) his END is equal to his STUN regardles of how much higher it may have previously been. HeroMan currently has 10 STUN (current), 30 END, 8 REC and SPD 4. On Segment 4 he's hit with sufficient damage to drop him to -10 STUN, thus rendering him unconscious. On Segment 5 the Medic grabs his Adrenaline hypo and hits HeroMan with a 7d6 Aid to STUN, rolling 20 and bringing HeroMan to consciousness (10 STUN). What is HeroMan's END after being brought back to consio…

Multiform Cost
I have a question on the way Multiform works as far as cost goes. How do you determine how much Multiform costs? Is it the same way as a character? Example: True Form Base Cost is 150 100 Points in Disadvantages Total Cost: 250 Most Points An Alternate Form Could Be Worth: 250? Also, when you earn experience does the cost of 1 character point spent by the true form gets 5 points in the alternate forms, or does it become 1 for 1 per form?

Unusual Summon Question
Let's say someone wants to use Summon to call into being a creature that is only going to be around for a very brief time - an animated water construct (built as an automaton) that loses cohesion quickly, for example. Now, while Summon is an Instant Power, the effects of the power - having summoned a being - normally last an indefinite amount of time (until the being is destroyed or completes as many tasks as it will perform based on its disposition toward the Summoner). So, how does one represent the effect of Summoning something that is inherently going to be there only for a very short time - say, a turn? One idea I had was to apply a Limitation to the total cost o…

Transform
ok last one i promise, maybe... With a (Anything) transform i know u can change inanimate as well as animate, but if i wanted to change the ground beneath a target, how does this work, the example being i was trying to extend the earth 1 mile vertically from whatever it's current position. How long does that take, and without the (area affect) advantage how much of an area do i affect, and is there any way, after the area affect is bought if necesarry, to reshape the area of effect to fit the situation? mike

Leaping
Steve, Before i post this on the Hero Designer threads, I want to get my ducks in a row (Would hate to say something is wrong when it is not). Can you sell back your base leaping, or should you take a Physical limitation as is done in the Beastiary (and other places)?

Teleport (Gate) Question
Hi again. This question is a bit more complicated than the last one was. X X OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ========================== Y Y Consider the above diagram. X and Y refer to opposing sides. The row of 'O's represent the teleporting (or active) side of the Gate. The row of '='s represent the non-teleporting (in-active) side of the Gate. Note: The above diagram shows only one end oof the Gate network. In other words, the X's and the Y's are in the same area. The row of 'O's teleports you way off the diagram. (I hope this makes sense. My idea is that when you open a Gate, you…
