Re: Musings on Random Musings

Sure. You had to be able to play Hero.

...Well, I don't suppose you have to, but I don't see why someone would register for a game forum without having played said game.

Even if I lost all interest in Hero, I would keep coming due to the quality of the people.

Yes, that specifically includes you, Narf.

Re: Musings on Random Musings

I have said the same thing many times. It detracts from' date=' rather than ads to, our articles. I've told the management as much. They look at me like I'm some sort of lunatic from mars who does not understand. I have to take my turn going through the talk-backs on our site. The experience has led me to conclude talk-backs are the expression of the darkest, most disturbing corner of the Id. Its as though they are spewing their inner-most drug-addled thoughts out in lieu of shock-treatments from a qualified psychiatrist. [/quote']

Someone had one of the 24-hour news-like infotainment channels on TV in the break room the other day (I don't recall which... CNN? Fox?). But after delivering the news, the anchorwoman said "And now let's hear what you think about this..." And then she started taking calls from... I dunno, random people who just happened to be watching TV in the middle of the day, I guess.

I'm thinking, "Why, dear god why? Why do they think I need to hear some random schlub's opinion on the news? If you're going to have someone venture an opinion, maybe a government official, a professor, an ambassador, someone who's studied the problem, someone who has some idea of what they're talking about!" :weep:

Another reason why I maintain that the 24-hour cable news networks are nothing but infotainment, pandering to the lowest common denominators. Turn them off!

AIUI Faux News refers to itself officially as an "opinion and commentary" channel, as opposed to "news". Truth in advertising, you see. I also note that it is the loudest, flashiest, gaudiest, seamiest of the cable "news" networks.

Maybe they should dub themselves the "talk news network."

And then offer Art Bell a contract....

"All right, taking your calls, if you believe the Illuminati is behind flooding and tornadoes we have a special line, just dial..."

Re: Musings on Random Musings

Art Bell would give them too much credibility.

The talking-heads he'd put one would be a lot more interesting...

"I'm here with Dr. Adam Boor, an archeologist specializing in the advanced technology of ancient cultures. Dr. Boor is the author of Lizard People Among us, which asserts the ancient cultures of the Near East were livestock breeding grounds by reptillian space aliens. Dr. Boor...."

"Yes, well, its well known that Barak Hussein Obama and Osama Bin Laden were both lizard men in human form - kind of like a V and SG-1 mash-up - and that the elimination of Bin Laden was the result of a five thousand year fued between warring factions among the lizard aliens..."

"Dr. Boor..."

"...you see the aliens who founded the United States - you can see their spaceport symbology, we call it free-mason symbology but the masons are really a cult dedicated to venerating our alien overlords, much like the bavarian illuminati, and thomas jefferson... built into the Washington DC plan - are actively trying to turn mankind into porn-obsessed, drug-addled breeding stock and food stuffs..."

"Dr. Boor! Are you saying President Obama is an alien Quisling?"

"I am... And Thomas Jefferson. Most of the founding fathers were. The civil war was a war between the aliens who want to enslave us, led by lincoln, and the alien resistance that's joined mankind to help us Fight the Future - led by Robert E Lee..."

"And you say you can document this?"

"Its right there in the book. Osama Bin Laden, and Al Qaeda, was really trying to liberate mankind from aliens who want to orgasm us before grilling us..."

"You're saying orgasms are bad, Dr. Boor?"

"Well, yes and no, but grilling certainly is. You see, it was the alien quisling overlords - first W and then Obama - who..."

"Are you really saying both the GOP and Democrats are trying to enslave America?"

"Rebublicrats! And its not just America. Humanity. Through America's export of commercialism, porn, oil politics, porn, bad television, porn, mutual funds, porn, advanced arms, porn.... Contrails are really a special drug making you susceptible to porn. That's why the internet was invested after all. Too spread porn. Porn is an alien brainwashing technology..."

"Dr. Boor, I have to say this sounds a little far fetched."

"The twin towers were a sub-space radio array in the shape of two giant phalluses - symbols of the keistering we're taking from our alien overlords - and Al Qaeda was sending a message..."

"No sex?"

"Exactly!"

Re: Musings on Random Musings

Hey! Just what's wrong with porn?

I mean, apart from the whole alien mind-control thing obviously?

Let's just say, when you mention customers calling for assistance, I really don't want to know what they needed assistance with!

What's wrong with it? What's wrong with it? I'll tell you what's wrong with it!

Hey....oww! stop that! OOF! *THUD*

A palindromedary interrupts this rant to report that Lucius Alexander is indisposed, but that he merely wished to... very emphatically denounce hacking and malware in general, and especially the growing prominence of such represensible attempts to subvert the integrity of the computers of innocent people who, perhaps out of such innocent motives as idle curiosity, wished to access materiels (the details of which we omit for the sake of discretion) suitable for mature persons of sophisticated taste.

Yeah, that's good, that's our statement and we're sticking to it.

Someone get an ice pack for Lucius' head, and hope when he comes to he doesn't remember who kicked him....
