But after delivering the news, the anchorwoman said "And now let's hear what you think about this..." And then she started taking calls from... I dunno, random people who just happened to be watching TV in the middle of the day, I guess. I'm thinking, "Why, dear god why? Why do they think I need to hear some random schlub's opinion on the news? If you're going to have someone venture an opinion, maybe a government official, a professor, an ambassador, someone who's studied the problem, someone who has some idea of what they're talking about!" Another reason why I maintain that the 24-hour cable news networks are nothing but infotainment, pandering to the lowest common denominators. Turn them off! Turn them off! AIUI Faux News refers to itself officially as an "opinion and commentary" channel, as opposed to "news". Truth in advertising, you see.
