Whitewings
Here's a challenge for all you clever folks: Design a costume for a female brick. Here are the relevant constraints: The character is 16 years old, and extremely beautiful. She doesn't see her herself as beautiful, though: She sees herself as being scrawny and underdeveloped. She's shy, quiet, timid, bookish, and desperately lonely. In terms of Powers, she's pretty well your basic high-end flying brick. 80 STR, increased Leaping, Running and Swimming, variable advantage Flight, high normal and resistant defenses, some Hearing and Sight Flash DEF, and loads of Life Support. If you need more details, I'll provide them.
Doppler
Re: A costume challenge Hmm.. a beautiful 16 year old girl with the personality of a nerd and no self-esteem. Been my experience they wear slutty outfits to get attention.
lemming
Re: A costume challenge If she sees herself as scrawny & under developed, she'd probably go for more baggy clothing. What other personality quirks does she have?
lemming
Re: A costume challenge Here's a sketch done by Sam Bell for one of my villians (Air Strike). Flying Brick as well.
nexus
Re: A costume challenge In a four color universe full of other supers, she might (consiously or unconsiously) base her costume off of other female heroines she admires or respects. The could apply to a "realistic" setting as well with her borrowing costume ideas from comics (possibly facing legal action). I don't think she was consiously go for something revealing, but her outfit might flattering. It just wouldn't be design.

What other personality quirks does she have? Well, she hates drawing attention to herself, and she's pretty well the ultimate bibliophile - to the point that if you hurt a kid, she might well hurt you back, but if you threaten a library or bookstore or anything like that... were you born an idiot, or did you pick up the trade in your early manhood? AliceTheOwl
Re: A costume challenge I'll second "baggy" and add "shapeless." My just-created teenager character wears very loose jeans and a baggy sweater. Subconsciously, it's because she has an accidental transform, and her other form would burst out of said clothes. But she's also the type to not call attention to herself. Not because she's shy, but because of her several Hunteds. Jeans are likely a good option because they still fit when they're baggy. Also, jeans are very flattering, no matter the figure. And for a brick, I think the thick, heavy material is essential. If you want her to be in more of a uniform, any material that's strong and can hang loose will do. A big cape or coat in muted colors is also likely - it'll help her look bigger and less scrawny, but wouldn't make her especially stand out. Does that help? Jhamin
Re: A costume challenge Oh great' date=' and 80 STR version of The Paper.[/quote'] I was thinking it sounded like Fairchild from Gen 13. (who was skinny and underdeveloped until she developed powers part way into their origin story.) Now she runs around in a black and green leotard Thong. Until her clothes fall off. Which happens every issue.

Katherine
Re: A costume challenge Oh snap! time for some photo evidence! *looks shifty for a second* Um, sure, yeah....just a sec *Desperately googles for some obscure porn site* Sorry about derailing your thread, Whitewings. I just couldn't resist. I'd go with baggy and functional for a "realistic" costume for this character and for a more comic book like, have to wear something bordeline functional but tight and flattering, like a jumpsuit or dancer's leotard. And be highly embarrased by it. Is there any kind of "super cloth" in this game world that magically puts up with the abuse most super hero outfits routinely suffer? Blue
Re: A costume challenge I'm thinking it has to be simple, have a mask (because even though they "draw attention" they also let her act with less fear than normal), be a simple color scheme, definitely no outrageous colors (neons or such). For some reason I keep flashing on a baggier version of Kitty Pryde's original X-men outfit.

Doppler
Re: A costume challenge She could go with a boiler suit with a patch insignia and a domino mask... very golden age as well as modest.
GoldenAge
Re: A costume challenge I'd say incorporate a cloak and a hood into her costume. She'll need something to hide under when the social stress gets to high. Plus, she'll have the added bonus of throwing sidelong come-hither glances from under the hood and the shock bonus of throwing open the cloak and flinging back the hood to reveal her stunning beauty (at first something she'd only do by mistake, of course). Red Knight
Re: A costume challenge If she doesn't think herself all that attractive, I don't see her wearing tight revealing clothes. I speak from experience... growing up I was over weight and so I never wore tight clothes... Now that I have left the baby fat behind... I have less issue with tight clothing. I could see her wearing overalls and a mask.. Not that sexy but functional and "safe". As the character progresses maybe she could start wearing more revealing clothes but to start I don't see tight. Fairchild from Gen 13 was just blessed with a dropdead gorgeous body (AKA skilled artist) so she can get away with the skimpy tight, Fredericks of Hollywood costume.
