I have to chuckle at one scientist quoted in the first article as saying, ""The fact that there's a hot fireball at very early times: that is confirmed." Really? It's only "confirmed" by models based on current theories, until someone comes up with a theory that's better at explaining all the observed phenomena we can't explain now.

 

I have more respect for the astronomer who remarked in the second article, "We've had this cartoon picture of the early universe, but it's clear that we really don't know what's going on."
