Icel
Re: HEROs of Heaven I'm talking about a game in which players play angels on earth in the battle between heaven and heel, like in games like "children of fire", "archangel" and "in nomine". Dr Divago
Re: HEROs of Heaven 7. Eden Studios' date=' Inc.'s "Angel RPG"[/quote']If you're talking about THIS game, well... it does not talk about "heavenly and holy servant of god, human-like winged creatures" but about "Angel" (a.k.a. Angel the Serie), tv serial centered on "Angel Investigation", investigationcompany owned by Angel, a former Irish vampire Liam (named Angelus 'cause his angelic face), "cursed" with soul and working for Powers That Be, warrior against dark forces etc etc (spin-off of Buffy the Vampire Slayer serie...) Lethosos
Re: HEROs of Heaven If Lord Liaden doesn't have a conversion, then start one. I reccomend In Nomine, since that's actually interesting in general.

RavensPath
Re: HEROs of Heaven I think for this sort of game' date=' you should look at [i']Nobilis[/i]. It has an interesting take on various types of celestial powers and their respective outlooks and agendas. I think Nobilis looks to be one of the most interesting and thought provoking books in the gaming world. The book itself is beautiful and the concept behind the setting interesting. That would probably be the one game that I would want to play as is and not convert it to Hero. Otherwise I would go In Nomine. A player in my old Champs game ran a fallen angel (there being a difference between fallen and cast out) and I used some of the concepts for In Nomine for him. The songs and the tethers to be specific. I will have to see if I have any of the write ups any more. If so I will let you know.
Icel
Re: HEROs of Heaven I did ask for specifics I didn't understood that, but thanks, that was helpfull. I don't know. But it shouldn't be too hard to do once you establish the basic powers inherent to all entities of a particular order. Yea, I guess you're right. John T
Re: HEROs of Heaven A novel I would recommend that I didn't see mentioned earlier: To Reign In Hell by Steven Brust, ISBN 0-441-81496-4, c1984. Poking around on Amazon.com, it appears it was reprinted in 2000. Hard to start, but a worthwhile read to finish. John T
TheQuestionMan
Re: HEROs of Heaven The DC Comic Universe has hinted that Mystic Superheroes like The Spectre, The Phantom Stranger, etc... are Angels. Angels in the DC Universe http:// http://captain.custard.org/league/php/article.php?id=dcuangels QM Being a Constantine fan, I would have to agree with your assessment. In fact, Constantine would probably agree with you, too. He's not a nice guy... obnoxious covers it, I think... and I actually like him... just imagine what his enemies think of him... tomd1969
Re: HEROs of Heaven Anyway, sorry to de-rail the thread... If In Nomine is what you want, then most of the angel choirs would have Detects: e.g. Seraphim would have "Detect Lies", an ability I know I've seen somewhere, but can't remember where. The Kyriotate resonance would probably be a telepathic Mind Control, Telekinesis (to simulate the changing of Corporeal characteristics that occurs when a Kyrio takes over a host), or perhaps instead of TK, buying his physical Characteristics (STR, DEX, CON, BODY) "Usable by Others." The Ofanim get extra running, and scads of Skill Levels for Area Knowledges. Cherubim would get "Detect Resonated Object," with either many levels of Telescopic on it, or Megascale Detect--but Telescopic is probably the better of the two. The demon bands are a little harder to do right in Hero System terms (the Balseraph resonance is making my head ache), and I need sleep, so I'll leave the rest for someone else to do. If no one picks up the ball, I can try again later after I've had some rest.
fredrik_nilsson
Re: HEROs of Heaven If you want to play an angelic game, then I think you should take a look at Angel/Demon: The Rapture. It was initially created by Christopher Blankley, but it has since been revised twice (by different persons). The current edition consists of three chapters (the main rules) and a supplement (â€Dancing the Spheresâ€) that covers the supernatural world. Angel/Demon: The Rapture, Part One Angel/Demon: The Rapture, Part Two Angel/Demon: The Rapture, Part Three Angel/Demon: Dancing the Spheres The game was initially done for the old Storyteller system, but converting it shouldn’t be that hard. A final note: Does anyone know the address to Christopher’s home page (or his e-mail)?
Michael Hopcroft
Re: HEROs of Heaven Heaven and Earth, which si goign through its third edition (and system), postulates its own take on the "Heaven and Hell go to war for the Earth" theme. Its basic take is that it is a lot more complicated than simple good against evil -0- Man is at the center of soemthing beyond its control, a war in which neither side really has its best inetrests at heart. It's the sort of game you would play if you're the sort of person who reads the story of Elijah and Ahab in 1 Kings, ponder which side you would be on if it were happening now, and realize you'd have a hard time deciding.... Which I suspect is what you would be looking for in a game like that. You would be looking for choices, where in the name of a higher good you may find youself forced to do terrible things, where what you even think of as good and evil is called into question under the crucible of a shades-of-grey reality. sinanju
Re: HEROs of Heaven I always thought the war segment of Milton's Paradise Lost would make a fun game setting. Probably been done. Surely novels have been written. One of my all-time favorite novels is based on this--well, and the whole biblical story of the revolt in Heaven by Satan and his followers. TO REIGN IN HELL, by Steven Brust. Read it.
tomd1969
Re: HEROs of Heaven Actually, Mike, that doesn't sound too far off of all of the IN campaigns I've ever run. I know some people who play it for laughs, and that's okay, I guess--if that's what you're after. But, as always, I'm looking for a little more. In my flavor of the canon IN world, Hell is 'evil,' but Heaven isn't much better. In Heaven's ranks, there's too much of the attitude that the ends justify the means (witness Dominic's working with Asmodeus according to some of the later supplements, and some of the things that David supports, such as skin-head Neo-Nazis). The mundanes watching from the sidelines are wondering which side they would be better off with. The fight between the Angels and the Demons started out as the fight for Man's soul, but that high concept has been lost in their petty squabbles with each other (witness the bickering between Michael and Dominic, or the fights between Gabriel and Belial, I think his name is; these fights have stopped being about the souls of mankind, and have become personal). That all is implied in the IN main rulebook, if not outright stated. That's the reason that playing Demons in this setting is a viable option: they aren't that much worse than the Angels.
