Duke Bushido
Re: Desintegrator Weapons You are correct, Vanguard. From the FAQ: A character who has positive BODY, and is Suppressed into negative BODY, does not lose more BODY in Post-Segment 12. If reduced to negative his BODY solely due to Suppress, a character “dies” for all intents and purposes, but comes back to life when the Suppress ceases to apply. Oh great! Now I have this mad urge to build a short-term disintegration ray..... "You were disintegrated!" "Was I?" "Yes! Yes, most emphatically!" "I don't recall that...." "You were a great big pile of sub-molecular dust on the floor!" "Are you sure?" "We saw it! er,, _you_.." "And you're sure it was me?" "Pretty much, yes. I mean, there was you, then a scoundrel, then a big flash of light and smell not unlike burnt hair.... And then... Well, a great ruddy pile of dust!" "Well I seem to be over it now...." "Yes; yes you do...." "perhaps it was a virus?" "..... mmmm..... Perhaps......"

Duke Bushido
Re: Desintegrator Weapons Why do I have the feeling I've seen this dialogue somewhere? In all sincerity, I don't know why. Perhaps it's the virus comment at the end. Upon re-reading, I find myself sorely tempted to add: "Or maybe a tiger?" "A tiger? In Africa?!" But I don't think any of the dialogue above actually came from that..... And good luck curing that awakeness.....
Thia Halmades
Re: Desintegrator Weapons Actually the first thing I thought of was: "SHE TURNED ME INTO A NEWT!" "A newt?" "I got bettah."

Old Man
Re: Desintegrator Weapons Suppress Body, Uncontrolled, usable on yourself only. THAT'S how you build Feign Death in this system. Huh. Yeah, so the bigger you are, the harder it is to feign death...
Thia Halmades
Re: Desintegrator Weapons Oh, hadn't thought of that. Thing is though, the Feign Death ability as it's written doesn't even begin to make sense to me... you're... invisible to Paramedic rolls or something equally bizarre that just me and my friends stare and say "Ummm... what?" Duke Bushido
Re: Desintegrator Weapons Oh, and the new 'feign death:' I think Instant Change happened to it. That is to say, that same phenomena. While the official company line is "we don't discuss or justify our design philosophy, but feel free to change what you want to change for your games [paraphrased]," it's still kind of fun to speculate about. It appears to me, at least on the surface, that there was a conscious effort to internalize the system, and where possible to express some powers and talents in terms of others, such as the new Instant Change=Transformation. I don't care for it, simply because it's kludgy, and somehow the over-technical breakdowns take away some of the 'neato' factor. That, and if I supress "Invisibility" is my oponent no longer able to Feign Death? That kind of thing.... I guess my own biggest problem with it is that the modifiers applied to the powers seem more 'we need a total of x to bring the cost in line' as opposed to the way I would have built them, had I opted to change them from their original mechanics. Erkenfresh
Re: Desintegrator Weapons I got a new idea for this. Just use Extra-Dimensional movement to go to a dimension where the target is disintegrated.
Erkenfresh
Re: Desintegrator Weapons And for Feign Death, Extra-Dimensional Movement to a dimension where you're temporarily dead.
Duke Bushido
Re: Desintegrator Weapons Monty Pyhton and the Holy Grail Sorry. Other than a couple of skits on the airways and repeated quotes at gaming sessions, I don't have a lot of Python exposure..... It's the Brittish accent, I think. I tend not to get overly-interested in things I have to consciously translate.....
Old Man
Re: Desintegrator Weapons I've got it--negative 100 points of Density Increase, usable on others. That way you get points back for the ability! Oh, and self-only Suppress Body for feign death.
Threnody
Re: Desintegrator Weapons Say, could you folx help me out a little? What's this here "Feign Death" you keep on talking about? All I see in the rules is Simulate Death, which is a Talent in the ol' Talents section or the rules. And that ain't no kinda Invisibility. Like it says: This Talent allows a character to slow his metabolism down to the point where he appears completely dead. Well, yeah, it talks about a medical check-em-up might find out the feller's alive, and gives game-mechanics for plusses and minusses, but that don't make it Invisibility. So since you all say there's a "Feign Death" that is some kinda Invisibility, could you tell me where you're reading it from? Thanks.
