quozaxx
I need help in two areas. I am doing basically a super group in space. 1. Do you know where can I find layouts (diagrams, floor plans, etc) of famous television and movie space ships? 2. Do you know where I can find a good sight full of alien / creatures / and beings pictures (or more accurately drawings / computer generated) images? quozaxx
Re: Sci-fi Champions Actually I am looking more for layouts. Like where on the Enterprise is the holodeck. Or where on Babylon 5 is (insert species name) room. I like to make my own spaceship (a very very very large one) and granted Star Hero has the specs for some ships, but I am a visual person. I like to know where everything is before I actually start the game. Which is going to be fun since I just opened it up on Hero Central, and I don't even have a ship yet. Major Tom 2009
Re: Sci-fi Champions Mongoose recently released a book of deck plans for the primary ships of the B5 universe (for their Traveller product line). In addition, the Battlestar Galactica RPG has a color section showing the deck layout of the ship itself. Major Tom 2009
Kenn
Re: Sci-fi Champions Actually' date=' Galactic Champions is too powerful. I was thinking more of the 350 pts range.[/quote'] And therein lies my issue with "Galactic Champions". If one looks the source material, comics like the Legion of Super Heroes or the Guardians of the Galaxy, the heroes aren't more powerful than modern day supers. Yeah, Mon-el may be built on the "Galactic Champion" scale, but is Matter-Eater Lad or Polar Boy? Are ANY of Marvel's G of G on the Galactic Champions scale? There were 27th century weapons that could knock Superboy for a loop, but the "modern" guns were only better than their 20th century equivalents in that they would never run out of shots. It is claimed that a "World War" destroyed much knowledge of weapons technologies... (Talk 'bout a dark age)

Yeah, Mon-el may be built on the "Galactic Champion" scale, but is Matter-Eater Lad or Polar Boy? Are ANY of Marvel's G of G on the Galactic Champions scale? I think Galactic Champions was meant to show people how to run very high powered Champions games, not neccessarily to model a particular comic book. There are a lot of things about a JLA or Avengers campaign that would touch on those "galactic" power levels. That being said, the Legion of Super-Heroes has a lot of very powerful people in it, even people who you would normally not think were that powerful. Silver Age Karate Kid could punch through the sides of starships. To this day, I think Timber Wolf is close to Hulk level in strength. Though many members of the Legion only had one power, that power was often at or near its peak potential. Cosmic Boy could perform Magneto-like stunts. Sun Boy could burn with the intensity of a nova. You get the idea. Which could get a little weird. There were 27th century weapons that could knock Superboy for a loop' date=' but the "modern" guns were only better than their 20th century equivalents in that they would never run out of shots.[/quote'] That actually didn't bother me much. I always though the Star Trek hand phasers were way too powerful for their size. I generally preferred the Star Wars model for energy weapons. Pattern Ghost
Re: Sci-fi Champions I remember flipping through a friend's copy of the Legion supplement for the Mayfair DC Heroes game, and the Legion's stats were pretty far off the scale, actually. Timber Wolf and Superboy were both quite a bit stronger than the Superman from the core rules, for example. Of course, the power levels varied quite a bit across the membership too. This was early 90s, though, so I'm not sure what era was being represented by the rules. I remember that the core rules seemed pretty accurate as far as relative power levels, but I'm not that familiar with the Legion material to judge it. Hyper-Man
Re: Sci-fi Champions ....Cosmic Boy could perform Magneto-like stunts. ... Considering that Cosmic Boy is the older character (1958 vs. 1963) wouldn't it be more fair to say that Magneto could perform Cosmic Boy-like effects? Fair enough. I just always use Magneto as my baseline for excessive electromagnetic power levels in comics.
