Ninja-Bear
Re: Atlantis found... Well this is very interesting. Do you happen to see that one of the islands in Japan (I beleive Okinawa) actually shifted 13 ft to the east. Sometimes I don't think we really appreciate how powerful the earth is, and how quickly things can change in an instant.
Peregrine
Re: Atlantis found... Why does the linked article strike me as opportunism based on the recent disaster? "I know, let's do a tsunami-related article and generate a lot of search engine hits, even though it is completely unrelated to the actual event that everyone is paying attention to!" Njiall
Re: Atlantis found... ...in Spain? http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/us_tsunami_atlantis It´s a old notice. If you are interested in this topic you can find information about Tartessos. This civilization had its capital in southern Spain and is very similar to the mythological Atlantis. Other Greek myths as the Garden of Hespérides are located in Spain, in this case in the Canary Islands.

teh bunneh
Re: Atlantis found... I've always wondered where the whole new-age "Atlantis had magic and flying chariots and warriors who shot lightning out of their arses" meme came from. It's certainly not in any of Plato's writings. ghost-angel
Re: Atlantis found... Most of that crap started with the book "Atlantis: The Antediluvian World" published in 1882. Author: Ignatius L Donnelly.

No, but it makes for awesome campaign material.
AlHazred
Re: Atlantis found... For gameable bits, I highly recommend Atlantis: The Lost World, from Bard Games back in the day. Great stuff - Stephen Michael Sechi basically put Atlantis, Tartessos, Mu, Lemuria, and almost all other reputed "lost civilizations" together in one setting. I've always wanted to run an Atlantis campaign, but who has the time?
