Marcus Impudite
It's a slow crime day and your character is out walking around when he/she notices a trunk delivering some new soda machines to various locations around Campaign City. For the most part, they seem like normal drink venders with the standard selections: cola, diet cola, lemon-lime, root beer, a button for bottled water, etc. One button on the machine stands out though, the label reads "Turbo-Boost." Observation of the machine as various people purchase beverages shows that those who try the Turbo-Boost drink are suddenly gaining the ability to run at supersonic speed! In addition, an NPC your character knows to be a chucky, out of shape couch-potato has spontaniously burned off the extra pounds and has taken to doing a kind of hyperspeed parkour through the city. Gnaskar
Re: Turbo-Boost Energy Drink Captain Citadel (a walking CIA listening station and chemical lab) should be able to figure out exactly what is going on. If that's not enough, his wife is a super chemist. In the short term, he'd increase the frequency of his patrols (there are always some idiots who figure being super fast allows them to commit petty theft unopposed) and make sure the drug is legal and safe for public use. Orion
Re: Turbo-Boost Energy Drink Stock up to ensure my own supply. Ask the company when they are coming out with a strength boost or mental boost flavor. Buy stock in the company. Be surprised when it is shown to have side effects. CrosshairCollie
Re: Turbo-Boost Energy Drink Major public danger; even if they aren't running at literal supersonic speeds and breaking every window in town, they probably can't steer at those speeds and will be slamming into things and people. Fortunately, Vixen and War Wolf both have powers that create Area Effect Entangles, so they could hopefully prevent people from being a danger to themselves and others, so would try to corral as many of them as possible (and break the machines to stop them from vending more) while letting the rest of the team try to backtrack the stuff to its source. Christopher
Re: Turbo-Boost Energy Drink Landslide: Okay, first she would check back if this is not a new, legal energy drink (we are talking about this happening in America, right?). If it is confirmed that his is not supposed to happen and nobody on her team needs the machine there (to backtrack the origin), she would proceed to secure the evidence - plug out the machine, lift it over her head and move it to the next lab (Police or Team, wichever fits). She could deal with those who already have ingested it, since she can run fast too. Not really speedster (high SPD and DEX), but running is her movement power and she has experience using it. And once she grabs someone, they won't be able to escape her grab. She would not try it herself - her biology is already messed out enough. It would most likely have no effect, or it could be lethal for her partial silicon based organism. When she has already developed her Chemical Analysing Sense of Taste (one of her potential powers), she could help the analysis by tasting it - but again, not ingesting. Christopher
Re: Turbo-Boost Energy Drink DNPC: 400 Babies Because he is mostly faster in that area? Or what does that have to do with the Energy Drink?
Alverant
Re: Turbo-Boost Energy Drink Redouble efforts to find the local Viper nest and shut it down. Find a scientist who can create an instant cure that can be delivered in gas form (the idea being to get the super-fast Viper agents to run through a cloud of cure and return to running away at human speeds). Put the company president into "protective custody" until the wrongful death lawsuits start coming in.
Naanomi
Re: Turbo-Boost Energy Drink Economaster would have only one thing on her mind... TERRIBLE MARKETING. Super-speed in the soda section? Such better markets for it! Track down the manufacturer and get them to change that business plan immediately! The Golem is always a bit confused about how living beings put stuff in their bodies and stuff happens. It probably wouldn't even seem too abnormal to it, unless someone pointed out the strangeness of it. Dealing with soda-junkies on the street later might be an issue that is in The Golem's purview though.
Querysphinx
Re: Turbo-Boost Energy Drink THUNDER: the supersonic woman is already capable of moving that fast. She's try a can just to see if she could make a reasonable fraction of C. Then she'd turn the stuff over to someone who knows what to do with chemicals.
