If Thanos was from Texas it would be the Infinity Belt Buckle (in the shape of Texas, of course). Darkseid should put those gems on his own glove. However, according to the Infinity Gems Wikipedia page, they only function in their home universe; Darkseid is apparently not in the mainstream Marvel U, so the gems don't work. The gauntlet is Thanos' glove. He took the Infinity Gems and put them on his glove. There is nothing special about the glove. He could have put them on his codpiece if he wanted. He put them on his glove. The gems don't care. Darkseid should have put the gems on his glove instead. If Thanos had put the gems on his underwear would everyone go around wearing his magic thong? I'm not talking about the Infinity Gems. I'm talking about Thanos' yellow glove. Look at the last panel in the picture. Darkseid's rocky skin is showing on his hand. Why would Darkseid take off his own blue glove, just to put on Thanos' yellow glove, when it's the gems, completely removable from the yellow glove, that are the important things? Furthermore, Darkseid's glove doesn't have the settings that Thanos built into his own gauntlet to hold the gems; if they gems functioned, he could certainly create them on the spot, but with the gems nonfunctional, they wouldn't adhere to his glove. Plus, there's the matter of iconic imagery; the gems on the gold gauntlet are the resonant image, just like the Superman Shield or the Bat-Symbol.
