Pariah
Today is the birthday of Patricia Tallman, best known (at least to me) as red-headed telepath and living weapon of mass destruction Lyta Alexander on Babylon 5. She also has a long career as both an actor and stunt person, appearing in more series than I care to count.

Cancer
That happened about 8 months before I moved to the Pacific Northwest from Europe, so I only heard about it a couple of years later via many sarcastic references.

Cancer
We are in the middle of the 50th anniversary of the last time humans walked on the Moon, Apollo 17; they were on the Moon Dec 11 - 14, 1972. By 1972 we were back in the States, so unlike several of the earlier Apollos, I did see this one on TV in real time. I never imagined I'd look back, fifty years later, as that being the last time we sent humans out of Earth orbit. tkdguy
