A.I. Wars - Mutually Assured Destruction. Champions Earth's A.I.'s go to war with mankind and with each other.  

DEMON - Leader and Inner Circle (Killed by Circle of the Scarlet Moon).  

 

P.S.I. Wars - Menton and PSImon (Augmented by PSI Serum and Technology - Gestalt) die fighting each other. Mentalla emerges as Champions Earth's Supreme Mentalist and leader of P.S.I.   

 

Project Safeguard - Mechanon takes control of Minute Man Robots and reprograms them to destroy all organics.  

 

Extradimensional Invasions - Taking advantage of a weakened Champions Earth. Skarn the Shaper (Stopped by Champions of the Mystic World, Tyrannon the Conqueror (Stopped by Dr. Yin Wu), the Kings of Edom (Stopped by the Circle of the Scarlet Moon's destruction of DEMON's Inner Circle.) 

 

Extraterrestrial Invasions - The Gradoon, the Qular, the Roin'esh, the Hzeel (Stopped by Champions Earth's Superhumans and the Star*Guardians.)

The Empress of a Billion Worlds launched a massive attack on Champions Earth Dimension, but the focus of the assault was on Champions Earth. Earth's assembled Superheroes, Super Agencies, and World Armies. Earth's own World Conqueror's objected and joined Earth's defenders.

One thing I like about the official Champions Universe is that characters age at a normal rate, and retire if they survive long enough, often being succeeded by another person taking their code-name. It gives the setting a real sense of history. But since the Hero Games downsizing curtailed new product production, a lot of the published supers would realistically be getting rather long in the tooth, active for a couple of decades or more. I'd like to see a few officially replaced. We could definitely use a Black Mask 11, for example, and a new All-American and Golden Avenger; all identities that are passed on, not tied to a specific person.

If I remember well the events, End of superheroic days are close ! Something like around 2020. Somehow I like the idea the "old capes", retired or near to be, will put on the costume a last time to fight Tyrannon, before the cyberage ^^ Lots of dramatic deaths and heroism would happen

True enough, Opale; but that time line was first released to the public in 2002. I'm pretty sure that if Steve Long and Darren Watts imagined themselves still publishing Champions Universe setting books eighteen years later, they would have been prepared to change that little detail by that time.

A sort of Apocalyptic end of the Champions Super Powered Game would have been nice. And they could have rewritten it all to create a brand new one, on an alternative earth for example. Well, just my 2cents.

 

For instance I loved the setting of the Champions : The New Millenium. Too bad it was not developped more.

QM, in your world, who leads DEMON now, in in what form ? I'm curious to know, because I'm working on DEMON for my mystic campaign group 

 

Got myself an "Inferna" villainess character based on the Goblin Queen from Marvel, as a sort of wild card to give my PCs a chance to mess with the mystic threat.

I used the main idea that Demon-Bound initiates are a sort of infiltrates from the Descending Hierarchy inside DEMON

DEMON's Inner Circle and Leadership were dominated by the Kings of Edom.

The DEMON organization continued to function on inertia. However Mystic Beings on Champions Earth and Extradimensional Beings looked upon Champions Earth with malicious intent.

After a period of infighting a New Inner Circle was born. It's New Leader, a Mystic/Magician named...

 

"What you did not think it would be that easy did you. A simple technomagical ritual and my name vanished from you technological dependencies. True Names are Power, granting you control over them and their works. "He who shall not be named" seems trite. They are simply call me Archmage of DEMON. The Inner Circle call me Master and soon so too shall you."... 

 

...the Archmage is a practicing magician who draws his powers from mystical entities such as Carreau (Powers), Oleillet (Dominions), Asmodeus (Revenge), and Leviathan (Deceit), who lend their energies for spells. The Archmage also wields mystical artifacts including ,  Eye of Pythius, the Book of the Furies, - a grimoire which contains knowledge of soul magic.

Props to QM for having DEMON's core destroyed by the Circle of the Scarlet Moon. A large group with vast resources and, just as importantly, not crazy. Just rationally evil and out for power. People who know of them should fear them. After all, who took down the last Archmage?

Are the Champions still active in this CU and, if so, what is the current roster? For mine, I (un)replaced Ironclad with an updated Obsidian, mostly because I disliked the changes that came with the Cryptic era. Defender still has his 5th ed look as well. I always liked the nod to Iron Man especially with the popularity the of MCU.
