  4. Re: Robot with an adamantium shell? Or you can post what you have and let folks pick him apart for you
  5. Re: Robot with an adamantium shell? Is this a PC or NPC? If it's the former, you're going to have make some sacrifices to get him under 350pts. For example, make the armor only Hardened x1. Give the robot something to work towards. Instead of 30/30 Armor, consider ARmor 25/25 for the same reason. Use experience to build him up. "Well, my last body took way too much damage; I almost crashed. This time, the chassis will be much stronger..." Same with STR. Give him a decent starting strength, but if you feel he needs more then shunt some power that way (i.e. put STR in a Multipower with some EBs and such). The problem with trying to duplicate ultra-villains like you're trying to do is that they're not meant to be "starting" characters. They have history; they've had numerous versions, each one better than the last. There's no reason you should assume that the version of the robot you're creating is the "end all be all" version--he's still just a starting character (relatively speaking), so leave some gaps that you can fill in after you earn some xp. You'll be able to find lots of little things you can cut that you might really want but you don't really need. Don't give him a full sensor array; a bit of nightvision and maybe increased perception is enough to start. Don't give him bunches of skill levels, especially Overall; give him one or two with INT skills or his Multipower or whatever. Again, room to grow. Start shaving costs like that and you'll quickly see his total cost dwindle to something more manageable. If it's the latter and this an NPC, quit worryin' about points
  6. Re: The cranky thread Every chance I get. I need the support network.
  7. Re: How do construct the ability to activate others' powers? So was there an agreed upon build, or are y'all still discussing it?
  8. Re: The cranky thread There already is one. It's called "everybody." Meetings are at the bar.
  9. Re: Western Shores 5e Campaign Don't listen to him, Curufea. You keep on postin'. I always enjoy reading campaign journals.
  10. Re: Transparent Aluminum Dude...that's kinda cool.
  11. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I wish I had the cajones to simply cancel all comics to which I'm subscribed. All of 'em, even some of the really good ones. I don't have much of a superhero outlet, though, PBEMs aside, and I don't have the patience to wait for trades. I'm so weak.
  12. Re: Hit Locations Oh, okay. Forgiven. I guess.
  13. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? My tummy grumbling. Time for lunch.
  14. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat How 'Bout Now? from the album "Shut Up And Rock". That's assuming we ever actually work on it, of course. For a cover band we're remarkably talented. For a hopefully-one-day-original band we're remarkably unmotivated. (Band's name is Contraband, by the way, and yes, we're a real band).
  15. Re: Hit Locations Er, 18. I meant 18. I said 18, didn't I? Crap.
  16. Re: Hit Locations I love it when y'all get all technical and munchkiny. Regarding called shots, no one yet has really just said "depends". The rules are fluid for a reason, and that reason is to be able to adapt them to abnormal situations. In normal combat called shot modifiers seem appropriate to me. Zombies aren't necessarily 'normal' by my definition, so other rules may apply. I see nothing wrong with halving their DCV (and by extension halving called shot penalties). It's all situational. As a side note, I've never played in nor ran a game that didn't use sectional armor with called shots. For me it's a package deal. You either have both or neither (with some exceptions, of course). If armor isn't purchased as sectional its considered to be total. To answer the original question, if it was military guys poppin' caps at each other, the called shot modifiers would be appropriate. If you're facing a zombie, halve the DCV and modifiers (to represent slower perception, movement, lack of defensive maneuvering, etc). If you're facing a gelatinous blob, no called shots. If you're facing a playing card, size matters but DCV doesn't. And no matter what the final modifiers add up to be, a '3' always misses.

  18. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. How's your "To Do" list lookin', Storn? I mean in terms of overall schedule; what's the current ETA on private commissions?
  19. Re: "Neat" Pictures Take some time and peruse all the galleries. There are some truly breathtaking pictures (in a good way, and a few that make me a-feared). I repped for the link cuz it's just so darn cool.
  20. Re: Sharing the Campaign ideas you can't use... yet Most recently in the "Rising Stars" comic by J. Michael Stra--um...something-zinsky (cuz I never spell it right). One of the 'Specials' figured out that there was a finite amount of "super energy" (for lack of better term) and began killing off the other specials. Whenever he did so, all the others gained a touch more power. First time I remember this particular plot was in the old "Chronicles of Prydain" books, wherein Arawn used the Black Cauldron to create undead-like warriors who grew in strength as those near them fell. Start with ten and they're like normal warriors. By the time you get to the last one he's like Conan on Red Bull.
