  1. Re: Infinite Crisis In "Infinite Crisis"? 52...it's a weekly arc spanning the entire year. After that, the reboot, forwarding one year in advance in comic continuity. Or, um, did I miss the reference to something else?

  3. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Man, some people just don't get it. Could someone please invent the virtual shocker so I can send a high-voltage pulse through the 'net?
  4. Re: A Thread for Random Musings It's...um...1:45am.
  5. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat "By the time you read this I'll be a man...again."
  6. Re: Musings on Random Musings Man, five years ago I'd already be packin' for a road trip. I'd be like, "Hey, did someone drop this gauntlet?". And if her name started with an I, O, Q or U it'd be even better.
  7. Re: Char: Vigilante & Sidekick for use and perusal We're helping!

  9. Re: Supernatural In all honesty I can't see it lasting must past a season or two anyway. Even then it'll probably get old unless they can keep things interesting. Some Big Bad Plot device would be good. As it is, the "Dad's missing" mcguffin ain't gonna hold me forever. They need to start finding something in the next few episodes, or at least by season's end. In regards to a campaign, that'd be fairly interesting to run, but I think it'd have to be a non-superhero world. It has to be a place where the extraordinary isn't so commonplace, where the supernatural is still something to be afraid of and not something you holler out to the local capes to come fix. Heck, it'd run great as a pulp setting with only a few changes to setting. A couple of related PCs, a couple of shared experiences, and voila! Instant party/team/group! All right, who's GMing this thing, anyway? I'm ready to go.
  10. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat Can't tell ya, but my girlfriend is still gigglin'.
  11. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Weiner dogs amuse me
  12. Re: Musings on Random Musings I'm just down the hall from our break room/kitchen. Friday they had to replace the microwave because someone nuked popcorn just a tad over the limit. Melted the bag, almost set off the fire alarm (bad when you have over 200 servers and 800 PCs in one building), and basically stunk up the joint somethin' fierce.
  13. Re: Help with a power for character A VPP Gadget Pool should be enough for the inventory itself, perhaps with a 'lockout' limitation on every item (item cannot be retrieved again until replaced in inventory). A current list of what's in the 'inventory' must be provided, and each item would probably have to have limitations like Focus and Real World Tech Only, or something. As to putting stuff in there that the character hasn't paid for, that'd have to be handled the same way your GM normally deals with "items the character hasn't paid for".
  14. Re: Supernatural Forgot to mention that yeah, it would make a good Dark Champions-esque campaign, and that I doubt the guys are made up with more than 150 pts total (we haven't seen all their skills, but they're pretty well able to take care of themselves thus far).
  15. Re: Supernatural When they were kids, the two brothers' mother was killed by...something. Daddy woke up, went to check on baby, mommy was on the ceiling, already dead (and slightly contorted), and then burst into flames. Flash forward twenty years or so. Dad has been monster hunting all this time, looking for what killed his wife. He trained both boys very very well--martial arts, weapons, survival tactics, how to work (and get around) the system, etc. Brother #1 followed Dad around. Brother #2 finally backed out and went to college, met a girl, had his whole life in front of him. Brother #1 shows up, says Dad is missing. Brother #2 reluctantly goes to help find him (which they don't, but they did kill a bad evil ghost thingy). Brother #2 comes home late, falls into bed, looks up, and there's his girl, dead on the ceiling, and then she bursts into flames. Sufficiently motivated, Brother #2 joins Brother #1 on a quest to find their missing father, find out what it was that killed Mom all those years ago and girlfriend recently, and to kill bad evil thingies along the way. There, now you're all caught up It's an enjoyable show. Not all-consuming, but good escapist horror/thriller entertainment. I like it better than Nightstalker, anyway.
  16. Re: Hostile Intent Depending on the campaign I don't see anything wrong with the write-ups. It's a good team with a lot of plot potential. That being said, I'd probably never use the team as-is for much of the same reasons Zed-F stated. I don't see them being that successful in the long run. If superheroes don't get 'em, other supervillains will. I can't imagine a team like that having "safe" houses in Europe...Eurostar would kick their butts. But again, it depends on the campaign. If this is the premiere villain group then yeah, it rocks. It would also be cool to build this up over a period of time while the campaign was in progress. Have the founders meet because of something the PCs did. A few background news reports of their activities during regular missions add a bit of flavor, then HI suddenly shows up in an adventure. You could run their entire history as background flavor during other adventures/campaigns and end up with a very cool nemesis villain group. But to more-or-less drop them into a Champions Universe campaign...not really practical.
  17. Re: Musings on Random Musings Well, in this particular case it was "Something About Mary". I just didn't like it. Don't like Stiller, not all that big a fan of Cameron Diaz, hate Chris Whatshisname, but everyone said it was really funny. It has funny parts in it, sure, but...meh. Happens all the time, though. "Fargo", for example, while good, was not what I considered a "great" movie (just saw it a couple of weeks ago), and I caught crap from a load of people for saying it wasn't all that, much less a bag o' chips.
  18. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Every so often I sit down and watch a movie that I haven't seen yet, but that apparently everyone else has, and everyone raved about it. It was a hit at the box office, it was a hit with the critics, it may even have won awards (be it an Oscar or some horse-hockey "fan favorite" type award), and so on ad nauseum. Well, I didn't like the movie and I can't help but wonder if that's just a matter of taste or, in my overwhelming arrogance, if everyone else was just fooled into thinking they were supposed to like it. It's the same with music, or television shows, or just about anything. Yeah, it's mostly about personal tastes, but what about those times when everyone but me likes something? I mean, sometimes I know I'm the exception, but once in a while I feel like shouting, "WAKE UP!" to everyone I see.

  21. Re: Musings on Random Musings Depends on which side of the river you wanna be on, I guess G'luck with that, Chad. Hope it works out for the best, whichever way that might be.
  22. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I recently discovered that the project at which I work will almost definitely not be renewing the contract for our services next year because of an underhanded scheme to get $2m more from them. I can't tell anyone, because I'm not supposed to know. I recently discovered that the bar at which my band plays most often is changing owners. A friend of mine is buying it, which is good. What's bad is that this friend doesn't get along with with female singer in our band, for reasons dating back to long before I joined the band (but had already become friends with the new owner). An already-too-long-story-short, the new owners will be 86ing the female singer beginning November 1st, when the transfer becomes official. Her husband is a bartender there and she can't go in. Our band plays there and she can't go in. This could hurt our band big time, and no one in the band knows this is going to happen but me. I have several more stories of such things, including a friend's divorce, some things regarding local sheriffs, etc. A little more than the usual drama, I'm thinkin', when all taken in together, and I can't talk about hardly any of it.
