  1. Richard I a good king, now THAT is fantasy. What happened to John and the Magna Charta?
  2. Supreme, that is a wonderful Vampire Killers scenario. Oh the angst for the heroes. This is one of those games where the GM could even hand the characters out, disoriented temporary amnesia for the "rehumanized" and let the players sort out their past over a few adventures.
  3. If you can stare hard enough at Star Fleet Battles to reduce its mechanics into a workable Hero ships, you can certainly get the "naval" feel you are looking for. It shouldn't be too hard - just time consuming. Anyone notice the similarities between SFB's Impulse System and the Phase-Turn System of Hero?

    Iron Man

I just don't like the philosophy of constraining the Marvel and DC Icons to fit the "expectations" set in Champions. I know I am in the minority there. I really do like the design of the character though. As for Mandarin, he may be THE archenemy but he doesn't really show up that much more than some of those other guys.
  5. Such an elegant solution. You never cease to amaze. I was hoping to get MORE international characters offered up though.

    Iron Man

I like the design philosophy but I think this Iron Man is underpowred compared to what I have read in the comics.
  7. A good way to set up a calendar in a campaign that is not anchored to our Real Time is to just start at "Year One" and go from there.
  8. Yeah, but you can always comment on what you thought was wrong with the construction of those older characters and suggest improvements.
  9. Not gonna go there in my campaign. Too depressing.
  10. Re: Re: YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING! Well, let's not make too big a deal out of a blunt criticism of a rule, a criticism that I think is unfounded. I think someone who doesn't like multiform as it is written should try to write up the multiform rules and achieve a better balance to gain some perspective.
  11. Re: Bullets vs Lasers Buy the gatling gun zero endurance and give it a high activation roll that can jam - represents one of several things - an actual jam or running out of ammo. It's just easier.
  12. Re: Bricks Go for it you're tough enough! I would love to see this character write-up.
  13. Re: As I had stated earlier Could you give me the source on the katana in the crusades? I would find this absolutely fascinating to read about. I teach advanced placement world history and there is always some kid who just wants to talk about military history. In this case, one of the big themes of AP World History, the degree of cultural exchange between civilizations though extremely limited had broad possibilities in incidental contact, could be illustrated with something that most of the kids would find fascinating.
  14. Re: Ultimate Supermage Magic Spells Wonderful. I have Mystic Masters but Ultimate Supermage sounds much more useful to me than I have been led to think. I believe Ultimate Supermage is only available via download? Does Hero take a check? Call me a luddite if you must but I don't like broadcasting my account info over the net, especially since its a debit card. Does anybody know how to get one of those limited credit cards that parents use for teenagers? I would feel pretty safe using one of those over the net. I ask these questions here only because I am lazy. I will look elsewhere on the Hero site for the answer... eventually.
  15. Re: Re: Velocity & SPD Sounds like work to me. I may have to play around with movement to get the hang of this nuance - maybe I will see potential in it.
  16. I must agree that suggestions as to how to handle special effects is probably the MOST useful thing I could see in a book like this.
  17. Re: Revised Multipower So I says to her, "Just Cattin' Around."
  18. Anybody done French superheroes yet? Italian? others?
  19. I have a friend who didn't care for the Ultimate Supermage but I'm willing to check it out. Is the kind of direction I want to go in something like they did with the Ultimate Supermage? Is it the kind of direction they are going with Ultimate Mystic? I hope so, but I got the impression they were going for a much more "generic" (read less dramatic) feel for magic.
  20. Thanks, he never seems to remember to give me this stuff when I mention it. These are great. I am hoping to throw a bunch of "originals" down on paper too.
  21. Yeah, I don't like the sound of this player who has decided that what he wants is so important, he is willing to be so heavy-handed in his character construction to "force" his view of what is important in the game down everyone's throats. I don't like gaming groups with that kind of dynamic and the best advice I can give is to get in a group that feels such behavior is unacceptably inconsiderate of others.
  22. That is an incredibly lame result. I have just about been put off by this contest.
  23. We have had a very stable gaming group that has even had players return from out of state multiple times! There are five core players who have been gaming together for 13 years and 3 of those have been gaming for 17 years. Another "latecomer" has been gaming with us for about 7 years. Other players come and go but we have remarkable stability, probably because the game is secondary to our friendships. As for Crisis, we only recently had a time-shifting event that has permanently altered our universe. It was, of course, played out and we still haven't returned to the game to see what has changed. This is not a retcon with an excuse. This was a time travel story that exploded in the players' faces! And for some reason we are all very enthusiastic to see what has changed.
  24. Here's a neat effect. Use teleport usable on other linked to a teleport on the character to "switch places" with the other guy who has been grabbed by pulling them around with the whip. Hopefully, you will use this tactic just in time for the opponent's "bestest" buddy to do a move through on him/her instead of you.
  25. I have been playing Champions for about 12 years now and only in the last few years have I felt that I had enough of a handle for it to even bother trying to maintain any continuity or chronicling the adventurs. Naturally, I have very little time now that I have the "knack."
