  1. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER That is the problem with a sentence with more than one...uh...one.
  2. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER LOL It's good to have you back, Rachel.
  3. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Second child syndrome. They have to compete for attention with the oldest. Often are the most intelligent of the brood. A scarey thought in my case.
  4. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Ah ha. Von D Man's on speed. That explains the post frenzy.
  5. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER I first read The Andromeda Strain in Junior High School and I last read Jurassic Park 2. The problem with Crichton is that all of his books are the same story. Frankenstein. No matter how utterly fascinating the subject starts off, none of the protagonists can be considered heroes, just victims caught in the flood of his narrtive, and every breakthrough of technological innovation was more than man was meant to know or deal with.
  6. Re: The NGD at 28/6/04 ? Well, duh. It says right there under your pic that you are the derail master.
  7. Re: The cranky thread You could change the question to "Large or small bills?" and confuse them.
  8. Re: A Thread for Random Musings 1. I will not respond on the Random Musings thread. 2. I will not respond on the Random Musings thread (Looks around to see if Zornwil is watching) 100. I will not respond on the Random Musings thread. OK, can I go now?
  9. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Good luck. A hundred bucks is a good deal for a program that works. I commend you.
  10. Re: The Last Hurrah (adventure for your use) Our campaign world is very four color and mostly created in the image of our political preferences, which definitely tend to the Conservative. I doubt very much that everyone on these boards would be comfortable running scenarios based around our very absolute morality based universe. As a big fan of Ronald Reagan, I thought Crackerjack had a pretty interesting and perversely dark concept going for a plot line. It would never work in our campaign and I think the basis for the concept is built around pure fantasy. I, too personally disagree with the worldview being presented here, but it's a game, guys. I feel Crackerjack needs a little slack cut here.
  11. Re: Generation Ship Campaigns Yep. Adventuring requires conflict. Not absolutely necessarily violent conflict, but conflict of some sort.
  12. Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it... I just finished rereading Niven's "Ringworld Throne." I liked it better than the first time and couldn't figure out why I hadn't read it since it came out in 1996. Oh, yea, that was the one Larry autographed for me at Westercon. Hope I didn't get any coffee on it.
  13. Re: Generation Ship Campaigns My only problem with a scenario based on Mayflies, is that IIRC, the humans were merely passive observers/victims. If I am remembering the story correctly, the decisive action on the part of the passengers was to meditate and successflully clear any hostile thoughts from their minds as the alien invaders wandered the ship. Our players aren't all exactly type As, but that is too passive a scenario to get even their interest.
  14. Re: I've Gone Totaly Mental! I play a Mentalist whose OCV ain't much to write home about. Trebuchet plays a REALLY quick MA who is nearly untouchable unless entangled or paralyzed. You don't think we have a bias or anything do you?
  15. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Well, you did use your managerial font and all.
  16. Re: This is Too Cool, and I Must Tell You About It Now that's what I call a character background. This is too sweet. Thanks, Supreme.
  17. Re: 'Empire': a cliché?
  18. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Me neither if the subject is anime. I am ignorant on the subject.
  19. Re: He's a WHIMP !!! (My Gripe) And those points are sufficient to always make him a valuable part of the JL. Role play and concept trumps points.
  20. Re: I've Gone Totaly Mental! Exactly. Mental powers being invisible to normal sight and having a line of sight range can be devastating advantages in the right circumstances. Combined with the maneuvers gary suggested here, Mentalists make up for the lower damage. Also, keep in mind that less of the damage gets subtracted by the defenses that most non mentalist characters possess. A typical Brick or Energy Projector is likey to have the same amount or more of STUN damage leak through from an Ego Blast as a punch or lightning bolt, because of little or no Mental Defense compared to lots more PD and ED.
  21. Re: He's a WHIMP !!! (My Gripe) One small correction, Doug, IMHO. Based on the number of times and enemies who have used Kryptonite against Supe, it should be the third most common element in the Solar System, by now.
