  1. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Standardized Test HERO
  2. Re: dark ninja hero champions? It should work just fine. My martial arts/film noir campaign was used Ninja HERO and Dark Champions as source material. Using TAS should work just as well, if not better for cinematic martial arts.
  3. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Portabella Mushroom HERO
  4. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares 1,001 Arabian Nightmares on Elm Street
  5. Lamb chops and Chianti... what a combo!
  6. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares The Monkees: A Clear and Present Danger A Hard Day's Night at the Opera
  7. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Pollen Count HERO
  8. Re: Martial Arts/Film Noir Campaign Thanks.
  9. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Too interesting not to share.
  10. Re: Opinion Fluff: Game Mastering Styles I've done the same thing myself. I make sure the NPCs have their own agendas and don't wait for the PCs to get the ball rolling. I will try to make sure to let the PCs alter the storyline as needed, but their choices will have consequences for good or ill.
  11. Re: Martial Arts sub-genre settings? I converted this setting to BESM, which my players found a little more user-friendly than HERO. We only played one game, though. Still, I thought it worked well.
  12. Re: Jokes Kids are Quick TEACHER: Maria, go to the map and find North America. MARIA: Here it is. TEACHER: Correct. Now class, who discovered America? CLASS: Maria. TEACHER: John, why are you doing your math multiplication on the floor? JOHN: You told me to do it without using tables. TEACHER: Glenn, how do you spell "crocodile"? GLENN: K-R-O-K-O-D-I-A-L TEACHER: No, that's wrong. GLENN: Maybe it is wrong, but you asked me how I spell it. TEACHER: Donald, what is the chemical formula for water? DONALD: H I J K L M N O. TEACHER: What are you talking about? DONALD: Yesterday you said it's H to O. TEACHER: Winnie, name one important thing we have today that we didn't have ten years ago. WINNIE: Me! TEACHER: Glen, why do you always get so dirty? GLEN: Well, I'm a lot closer to the ground than you are. TEACHER: Millie, give me a sentence starting with "I." MILLIE: I is... TEACHER: No, Millie..... Always say, "I am." MILLIE: All right... "I am the ninth letter of the alphabet." TEACHER: George Washington not only chopped down his father's cherry tree, but also admitted it. Now, Louie, do you know why his father didn't punish him? LOUIS: Because George still had the axe in his hand. TEACHER: Now, Simon, tell me frankly, do you say prayers before eating? SIMON: No sir, I don't have to, my Mom is a good cook. TEACHER: Clyde , your composition on "My Dog" is exactly the same as your brother's. Did you copy his? CLYDE: No, teacher, it's the same dog. TEACHER: Harold, what do you call a person who keeps on talking when people are no longer interested? HAROLD: A teacher.
  13. Re: Opinion Fluff: Game Mastering Styles Depends on the players. I prefer to be a benevolent dictator, but I sometimes need to play the tyrant.
  14. Re: Y-Wing Evolution That's an awesome picture!
  15. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Back on topic: Classic Movie HERO GM: So what's your character like? Player: Ever watch Ensign Pulver? GM: I see. Anyway, you meet your new captain. Player: What's he like? GM: Ever see The Caine Mutiny? Player: Oh...
  16. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares The Caine Mutiny On Golden Pond
  17. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Nope. Tried both ways. On different days too. But the caps lock worked fine in my next post. It's just this one that won't cooperate.
  18. Re: The cranky thread I don't know if anything is actually wrong, since we all react differently (my sister recuperated more quickly than I did). You may just be fatigued after your ordeal. But you may wish to call the doctor about it just to make sure.
  19. Re: Space Junk in Earth Orbit Salvage was an interesting show. I don't recall them using the rocket too much after the first episode, where they went to the moon. I remember them using it only once... to burn up the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere?
  20. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Battlestar Galactica: The Jeeves and Wooster Chronicles
  21. Re: Martial Arts sub-genre settings? I like all of them. I did a realistic setting once, but my players felt it wasn't cinematic enough. So I made a more cinematic campaign. Then they said it wasn't realistic enough.
  22. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Agriculture HERO
  23. Re: Guns in Fantasy I've used flintlock guns in my fantasy campaign. They worked out all right. Healing got to be a problem, however, since I was running a nonmagical fantasy campaign.
  24. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Std Hero Edit: Strange. The caps lock function doesn't work in this post.
  25. Re: The cranky thread I'm glad it went well for you. I have my own horror story to tell, but I decided to hold off until your procedure was done. The dentists kept missing the veins in my arms when they tried to insert the IV, so they stuck it just above my wrist, which HURT! I woke up in the middle of the procedure and felt my teeth being broken apart. They were growing under my molars, so they couldn't be extracted easily. I didn't feel any pain thanks to the novocaine, but I could feel my wisdom teeth being shattered. I was pretty groggy when I was driven back home because of the novocaine. My gums bled for days, and I didn't eat solid food for two days.
