  1. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Highlander Memories HERO Methos: Don't you love how everything gets exaggerated? We fought in the Trojan War, and we both know Helen of Troy didn't have that great a face (but what a body!). And only a hundred ships were launched, not a thousand. Kronos: True, but it's bad form writing about "the @r$e that launched a hundred ships," no?
  2. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine Is anyone else having trouble loading the Amazon build? The site works for the other builds, but this one won't finish loading.
  3. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine It's fun to play with, but I'm having trouble loading it at this time.
  4. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine I just added mine via Photoshop.
  5. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine My Photoshop skills are weak, but here goes. This is a picture of my Highlander-style immortal, Charles Ulrich, along with some of his employees (he runs a detective agency). The background is the Semper Opera House in Dresden, where he is based. I realize I forgot to add shadows, but it's supposed to be evening anyway.
  6. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine Okay, my turn. I did two versions of my character, the Avenger. The first is in hs original red costume; the second is his new black costume. Edit: His hairstyle in the black costume is the accurate one. I just goofed the first time around.
  7. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Yentl Meets the Wolf-man
  8. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Standardized Test HERO
  9. Re: dark ninja hero champions? It should work just fine. My martial arts/film noir campaign was used Ninja HERO and Dark Champions as source material. Using TAS should work just as well, if not better for cinematic martial arts.
  10. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Portabella Mushroom HERO
  11. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares 1,001 Arabian Nightmares on Elm Street
  12. Lamb chops and Chianti... what a combo!
  13. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares The Monkees: A Clear and Present Danger A Hard Day's Night at the Opera
  14. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Pollen Count HERO
  15. Re: Martial Arts/Film Noir Campaign Thanks.
  16. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Too interesting not to share.
  17. Re: Opinion Fluff: Game Mastering Styles I've done the same thing myself. I make sure the NPCs have their own agendas and don't wait for the PCs to get the ball rolling. I will try to make sure to let the PCs alter the storyline as needed, but their choices will have consequences for good or ill.
  18. Re: Martial Arts sub-genre settings? I converted this setting to BESM, which my players found a little more user-friendly than HERO. We only played one game, though. Still, I thought it worked well.
  19. Re: Jokes Kids are Quick TEACHER: Maria, go to the map and find North America. MARIA: Here it is. TEACHER: Correct. Now class, who discovered America? CLASS: Maria. TEACHER: John, why are you doing your math multiplication on the floor? JOHN: You told me to do it without using tables. TEACHER: Glenn, how do you spell "crocodile"? GLENN: K-R-O-K-O-D-I-A-L TEACHER: No, that's wrong. GLENN: Maybe it is wrong, but you asked me how I spell it. TEACHER: Donald, what is the chemical formula for water? DONALD: H I J K L M N O. TEACHER: What are you talking about? DONALD: Yesterday you said it's H to O. TEACHER: Winnie, name one important thing we have today that we didn't have ten years ago. WINNIE: Me! TEACHER: Glen, why do you always get so dirty? GLEN: Well, I'm a lot closer to the ground than you are. TEACHER: Millie, give me a sentence starting with "I." MILLIE: I is... TEACHER: No, Millie..... Always say, "I am." MILLIE: All right... "I am the ninth letter of the alphabet." TEACHER: George Washington not only chopped down his father's cherry tree, but also admitted it. Now, Louie, do you know why his father didn't punish him? LOUIS: Because George still had the axe in his hand. TEACHER: Now, Simon, tell me frankly, do you say prayers before eating? SIMON: No sir, I don't have to, my Mom is a good cook. TEACHER: Clyde , your composition on "My Dog" is exactly the same as your brother's. Did you copy his? CLYDE: No, teacher, it's the same dog. TEACHER: Harold, what do you call a person who keeps on talking when people are no longer interested? HAROLD: A teacher.
  20. Re: Opinion Fluff: Game Mastering Styles Depends on the players. I prefer to be a benevolent dictator, but I sometimes need to play the tyrant.
  21. Re: Y-Wing Evolution That's an awesome picture!
  22. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Back on topic: Classic Movie HERO GM: So what's your character like? Player: Ever watch Ensign Pulver? GM: I see. Anyway, you meet your new captain. Player: What's he like? GM: Ever see The Caine Mutiny? Player: Oh...
  23. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares The Caine Mutiny On Golden Pond
  24. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Nope. Tried both ways. On different days too. But the caps lock worked fine in my next post. It's just this one that won't cooperate.
  25. Re: The cranky thread I don't know if anything is actually wrong, since we all react differently (my sister recuperated more quickly than I did). You may just be fatigued after your ordeal. But you may wish to call the doctor about it just to make sure.
