  1. Re: ~ All Out War~d&d Vs Hero Vs Palladium If Steve Long is Alton Brown, who's Bobby Flay?
  2. Re: Space Clips! I can use these. REPPED!
  3. Re: ~ All Out War~d&d Vs Hero Vs Palladium For customizing characters and campaign worlds, FH wins hands down. You can do high fantasy, low fantasy, and everything in between. For an impromptu game and getting non-gamers to play, I give the edge to D&D. Keep in mind I play the older versions (Basic, 1E, 2E) rather than the current edition. I never played Palladium. One of my firends has a bunch of the books. I remember being unimpressed by the fantasy game.
  4. Re: A Thread for Random Musings The things you learn on Wikipedia! Here's an entry on a cocktail made with sake:
  5. Re: The cranky thread No wine with the Thanksgiving meal today; I'm on medication. But I'd really like a glass of Merlot.
  6. Re: The cranky thread I'm tired of this cough. I sounded like Cookie Monster the last few days becasue of all the coughing. My voice sounds better now, although it's still raspy. And I pulled a shoulder muscle last weekend. It's okay now, but it was sore for a few days. Sick and injured yet again!
  7. Re: Day-to-day life in space Cool! Playing this video would make a great way to start my hard sci-fi campaign.
  8. Re: A Thread For Random Links Giant Sea Scorpion!
  9. Re: A Thread for Random Musings "Stand back, or feel the bite of my fearsome glaive-guisarme (which, of course, I happen to be specialized in)." I knew we were in trouble when the navigator looked out of the cockpit and asked, "Where the heck are we?"
  10. Re: A Thread For Random Links Thanks, Tim. Repped.
  11. Re: Whats your view of PC expiry? What's your in-game mortality rate? I don't remember any of the PCs dying in the games I played. Of course, the GM usually ran a Champions campaign. The FH campaign I started running didn't last long, but there would have been no resurrection (or any other kind of magic). Still, I wasn't going to kill off the PCs that easily. The first session could have ended in a TPK, but I didn't want to scare off players new to the HERO system.
  12. Re: A Thread For Random Links http://Radio Rivendell Pardon the thread necromancy. I saw this link posted on Dragonsfoot and decided to share. This thread seems like the most appropriate place for it.
  13. Re: Pulp/Steampunk SF Ideas Rubber science is the way to go in this thread. That's how I started it, after all.
  14. Re: Pulp/Steampunk SF Ideas That would work, and since there are many comets, they can bring different surprises. Any ideas on Uranus and Neptune?
  15. Re: Is the term "bastard", gender specific? Oh, the temptation of making a joke about wielding an illegitimate sword! Good thing I was able to resist it. Or was I?
  16. Re: Pulp/Steampunk SF Ideas I like the comet idea. Thanks.
  17. Re: Pulp/Steampunk SF Ideas So if I include Cthulu and friends in this campaign, where should I place them? I was thinking of leaving them in Pluto, which was still undiscovered in the Victorian era. That way, the PCs may still have creatures from "beyond the stars." And if the players insist on "discovering" Pluto, I'll whack them with a backscratcher (Well, not really).
  18. Re: Is the term "bastard", gender specific? I think it's technically gender-neutral, although it's rare to see it used to describe females. That's probably because when used as an insult, the word is used on males. You probably already know the female equivalent in the latter case. Edit: Here's an interesting article on the matter.
  19. Re: A Thread for Random Videos Has anyone had a day at the office ?
  20. Re: The cranky thread And the Do Not Call list doesn't stop automated calls or people taking surveys either.
  21. Re: Apartment floor plans Cool! I may be able to use these sometime. Thanks for sharing!
  22. Re: Pulp/Steampunk SF Ideas I haven't done much with this setting lately. Maybe I'll tinker with it some more this weekend.
  23. Re: The cranky thread I couldn't even take a single sick day off this week because there's nobody who can fill in for me. I'm not holding my breath for next week, either.
  24. Re: Pulp/Steampunk SF Ideas I owe you rep, Sweeper. Hopefully, I can be the one to ascend you. Thanks.
  25. Re: The cranky thread Ever have one of those days where everything goes wrong before you even get up? Today was one of them.
