  3. Re: Low-Action Hero? I've run a few game sessions that didn't have combat in them. They were mostly about survival in the wild or social interactions. It is theoretically possible to run entire campaigns that exclude or minimize violence, but it depends on whether the group would want that. LARP games would probably be the best-suited for this. I never played in a LARP session, but I suspect combat is better off without combat. If you're looking for tabletop rpgs, the Castle Falkenstein game would be a good choice. The Star Trek games (especially when set in the TNG era) would also work if your players don't mind not having starship combat. Edit: HERO would also work. Just play competent normals with a lot of noncombat skills.
  4. Greyhawk is set in a geocentric solar system. The solar system in the Forgotten Realms is heliocentric, but it has its share of oddities, such as the Tears of Selune.
  5. Re: Jokes I just sent it to a couple of people I'm chatting with. Waiting for their reactions...

  7. Re: Hero Goes to the Movies (or TV Shows)! Will do.
  8. Re: Hero Goes to the Movies (or TV Shows)! Sure, I'm just not sure how to do that. I submitted the Duncan MacLeod to The Great Net Book of Real Heroes years ago.
  9. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares I want to see Abbott and Costello run over a Mi-go with a Yugo!
  10. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares The Three Stooges Meet Megasnake. Feedback makes a cameo appearance.
  11. Re: Hero Goes to the Movies (or TV Shows)! Years ago, I wrote up Duncan MacLeod from Highlander: The Series. The write-up for Methos is also included in the thread. I also wrote up the esteemed (?) Dr. Frasier Crane.
  12. Re: Steampunk Superheroes I like it!
  13. Re: GMing STAR HERO at UK Student Nationals Tournament - yay! Sounds interesting! Please let us know how it goes.
  14. Re: Steampunk/Victorian fantasy setting questions I recommend the Castle Falkenstein rpg as a resource. If you can't find the original game put out by R.Talsorian Games, there is a GURPS version available. If you can find some of the splatbooks, I recommend getting Comme Il Faut (articles on Victorian lifestyles), Steam Age (Steampunk inventions), The Memoirs of Auberon of Faerie (the Faerie host), and The Book of Leonardo da Vinci (magic and technology meet).
  15. Re: A Thread for Random Videos Here's a review of the Dragon Strike game.

  18. Interesting ideas, guys! And great writeup, mayapuppies.

  20. Re: Tell us about your Pulp game! Lasers are also passe. They have mass drivers on their heads.
  21. Re: The cranky thread I wish people wouldn't be so quick to believe things they read online. I'm talking about the "MSN is about to charge you for using Hotmail unless you forward this message to all your contacts" hoax. I keep having to send them to Snopes to show them it's a fraud.
  22. Re: A Thread for Random Musings In case people are wondering why I bumped the thread, it was because I couldn't seem to get to the last page, which was listed as page 727. Every time I hit the icon, it just put me back to the top of page 726. I had this problem before, so I just post a response to see the page. Ironically, my post somehow ends up at the top of the new page, so I suppose someone is deleting a post. Not sure why it acts up like this.
  23. Re: Return of the blimp/zepellin Cool. I've been a fan of Zeppelins since I GMed Castle Falkenstein over a decade ago. I miss that campaign.
