I know the feeling, Hermit. I once had to tape the lens to my glasses because the frame had broken. I only had about $8 in my account, so I couldn't get a new pair. The lens popped out during Latin class, which caused the instructor to exclaim, "Good Lord, his eye popped out!" The only response I could say was "Yeah, it did."
 
My cold isn't much better despite two days of rest. Whenever I blow my nose, it sets off the dog because he thinks someone is ringing the doorbell.

Thanks. Fortunetly Cartoon Network re-airs the previous episode of Naruto on Friday nights so I can getr caught up that way. Saddly IGPX isn't so I guess I'll have to wait for the repeat.
 
tkdguy, congrats on the test. I took Tae Kwon Do years ago when I was a kid and the belt tests weren't nearly anything like that. Of course it would be some years latter I could come to realize that it was a belt factory. They taught techniques and not much else. (i.e. they never explained the difference between a normal block and a knife hand block)

Agreed. Now if TDKGuy gave us the GrandMaster's e-mil address we could personlly reply. since tht is unlikely to happen, we can't very well get TDKGuy in trouble by blabbing. 
(and beside TDKGuy is a mod of NGD.com ... one has to respect mods.)

I wasn't going to say anything, but I have to agree with zornwil's last statement. I can't make any absolute judgement since I don't know your situation other than what you just said, but it does sound like she's making a lot of unfair demands on you.
 
And zornwil seems to be so upset about this whole thing, he's turned completely red!

Thanks to Alice and L. Marcus and other well-wishers who shall remain nameless. Like flowers in a hospital room, your sympathetic notes and encouragement do actually brighten things up, and I appreciate them.
 
I was just venting on the thread...so receiving sympathetic responses was a definite bonus (and believe it or not, unexpected).
 
Depending on how Infusion #3 affects me, I may be absent from the HERO Board for a while, starting tomorrow. No, I won't be avoiding all of you, just busy being sicky-yuck blah.

As for my predicament, I did see the doctor today. He thinks it may be arthritis, or I've been overdoing it during my workout. I am testing for my 2nd Dan on the 19th of November, and part of the requirement is doing 100 pushups in 3 minutes. I may have overexerted myself.
 
Still, he gave me some medicine just to be safe. You know you're getting old when your doctor prescribes Celebrex!

I'm adjunct faculty at a local university's Physics Department. This term I taught a survey-level astronomy course. Yes, Solar System astronomy.
 
I give an observing exercise. Very simple. It takes about an hour to do from a standing start. You have to observe the moon. (We really need a moon icon in the smiley set.) I give it the first week of the term, collect it the last week of the term, and I threaten the students weekly and let them know that doing it is their responsibility, weather be damned. In 2.5 months they will sure enough get the hour they need.
 
I don't care so much what answer they get; the procedure, by its nature, is flawed, so only under ideal conditions (which aren't actually that hard to come by, but never mind that) will they get the correct answer. It's the performance of the exercise that counts. I never mark people down for the wrong answer, just for doing things incorrectly.
 
But ... when someone dry-labs it, fakes the data, makes it up ... and I catch them at it ...
 
Although the principle for academic honesty penalties is more or less the same everywhere, the details are always different, and the details matter. So when I found the idiot who faked his data on Sunday evening, it chews up about half a day of my life as I figure out what i's I have to dot and what t's I have to cross before I can toast his lazy, cheating ass to the maximum extent the school regs allow. Because if I have to waste a half day or more of my life to penalize some guilty-of-incestuous-rape low-life, I sure as hell am going to ask for more than a slap on the wrist for my trouble.
 
Unfortunately, no one's regs allow things I want to give ... the pit of starving rabid weasels ... the hornets' nest enema ... re-entry from low orbit with only a vacuum suit ...

Check the exact contents of the "Fat burner" and research them. afaik, most of those are full of stimulants, and they can cause "interesting" emotional swings.
