Badger got a reaction from Pariah in Political Discussion Thread (With Rules)
Just to mention:
Going to take a few weeks from this thread. Still mad at myself for letting my worries to obsess over a topic I don't like to discuss. So, consider it for purposes of perspective recalibrating.

Yeah I keep going back and forth with the Atlanta case. Escalated on a dime and all.
At the very least charging for murder is going to prove a disappointing overreach and at worst a similar scenario that lead to the LA riots.

Well only Toronto and Tampa bay fail on the grass part. Pitchers will have to hit better .120 on average before I stop preferring the DH.
Since WW2 .200 hitting pitching staff is a rarity. For that matter outside the hard hitting 1930s, uncommon since the 1890s.

Dad already has that (which is why I haven't visited. Not sure 79 years old with diabetes and heart issues could stand it)

I didn't like the way the statues were removed, though. From purely historical viewpoint. Needed to be locked away in a museum to be shown as an example of our mistakes. The people of 1000 years will be all the dumber for our actions this week.
The more info the more truth you learn from history. I feel more like I am watching a modern version of a book burning. Remove from public view, 100 percent. To destroy is unforgivable.
History is a subject I have passion for, like I find many of you here have for science. This has not been a good week in that sense.

Well my mask wearing isn't a role model. Wearing at work all day in heat is tough. No matter how hard I try eventually my nose has to pop for a few desperate fresh breaths before disappearing again

The more I think about it the more angry I get with these governors and mayors.
I need to get my business back up or i will have panhandle for my kids lunch money
How dare you risk lives
Let us go protest without mask.
You guys are cool
Nothing but hypocrites. Either support the quarantine or give up on it. No pick and choose.

Well, unfortunately the Biden presidency scares me almost as much, only for different reasons.
It has occurred to me that the 2020 election is like circa 1580 Russia, who is better Ivan the terrible or Fyador the bellringer
I guess I await the False Dmitri. (Of course the birther say we already got that one.) Really don't know who to root for (other than the asteroid)
I guess I should stay away from the polling. Biden ahead will depress me. Trump ahead will depress me.

Badger got a reaction from Scott Ruggels in Forbidden tropes that "players will refuse to play"?
I do ponder if #1 for me is like when I play chess.
Even when I have no chance to win, I can never concede. Have to play to the end. (I admit I do see as some challenge to last as long as possible)
Just wondering if I take that mentality into other hobbies.

Don't worry I just thought you were pointing things out. Nothing more or less tone wise

To be fair, liberals pulled the vice versa from the looks of it.
I do wonder if we will get a sharp rise in Corona in those areas as June ends

You're wrong, they only want to get out for a haircut. (ok that one comment made by not someone here, still burns me)
Seemed more people were out this weekend than any recently in my area. At least, in my area of VA, people might be telling Gov. Northam to do some anatomically implausible things to himself.
Edit: ANyhow, I think regardless of the percentages of who stays where now. Each passing week will see significantly more people venturing out. And depending on the area, of course. If an area hasn't had much (non-economic) devastation, it will be more likely to be fed up with it all. People can self-quarantine, yes, but the powers that be, didn't seem to contemplate, there was an expiration date. Quarantine is a 2-3 month option, not an 18 month one.

yeah, it isnt exactly a field of expertise for me, so I can only speak in some generalities. It just seems we hit rural areas with a harsher medication than needed, and my mind tries to figure out how/if it should have been handled some other way.
I just know, economically, the national quarantine can only be called once at most a generation, and we already fired the bullet.

I know it might not be necessary all around, but, I will say, nearly everybody I know when Trump said "Chinese virus". Thought he was taking a shot at the Chinese govt, or was merely stating that it was the point of origin. Not that Chinese people in general were responsible. I can only speak from my own experience, though.

Yeah, I'm not much on funerals. I figure funerals are more for the living, and I am not one of those that gets a particular comfort out of funerals. I guess, I think of it more as a family duty, that they were there for me, so I can be there for them one more time. Somwething like that.

well, they did get visitation, split into 3 parts (immediate family, the niece's sisters-2, and my mother and her remaining sisters-effectively likely my mother only, since her 2 remaining sisters, one lives hundreds of miles away, and the other is 90, and in later stages of dementia. I forget the 3rd part, I think husband's extended family). Husband did apologize to my mother, that I couldn't visit. But, I don't do funeral home visitations.
I think they are having a graveside service for the immediate family (husband, 2 grandchildren, 2 sisters, son). I guess, for me, I want have to worry about being a pallbearer and dropping the casket (yeah, always my weird fear). But, I would have preferred to have had the chance, out of family loyalty.
