  1. Re: Elementary, My Dear Watson That is expressed in the 7 % Solution, which I took from the film of the same name
  2. Re: Elementary, My Dear Watson Basil: On the cannon, I was simply waiting for someone like yourself to come along and brush away the last few bits from the model. Ok I concede that I used my memory of the books, blended in the Basil Rathbone B&W shows, the movie 7% Solution and a healthy dose of Wikipedia's digest. I created this version of Holmes to be the very last of him we see from his return, whether that be straight from cannon or the movie. But this write up was meant to be a place holder and modifierd so anyone could just drop parts for earlier periods. The KS: Vocabulary is a holdover from 4th ed., which had an associated KS with the Lang. based on points spent. I wanted to convey knowledge of these lang. beyond the spoken word and reflect serious study. I did not modify the cost of any skill other than KS. If you count the KS, you will find a total of 11 on the sheet. -1 for each equals -11. I choose this format because I like to cluster my KS around skills they compliment. HD does not allow this, so I work around that. After lowering the COM I thought about it and have a counter arguement. The COM reflects the characters COM at his best. With his Addiction and Psych lims, I see the GM saying his effective COM lowers resulting in the manner you suggest. I have now put in notes that these skills are INT based. Good Point. I removed the WF for Handgun. Also good point. On age, as above, I built for the later years. On the "Hunts", yes I meant to convey that while not knowing exactly who, it turns out Holmes was going after Moriarty, but a broader Psych is needed. Widened it to Criminal enterprises. Removed the disad concerning Irene. I will refer you to the Wikipedia article and to its many good points on why Holmes did have some cultural knowledge. And yes it did help, thanks.

  5. Re: Elementary, My Dear Watson Working on a HD version of Holmes now. Will post soon. Then others can pick it apart and refine the build
  6. Re: How to build: Omni-language speech This speaks to me. I like it, it fits pt wise and scales for what I need it to do. Hyper man raises good points. Which can be solved with limitations Only to Hear user and Cannot speak in the Language unless already known
  7. I am trying to build someone who knows one language but when he speaks everyone hears in their own language. Telepathy seems cumbersome, any suggestions?
  8. Re: Measuring Cunning A combination of the following: For quick wittedness: PSL to offest Skills which are used at faster time interval than normal. HERO 5th ed. rev. pg 45 under Time chart. 9. Re: Yet Another PA Campaign Idea I like the concept. It could lead to many interpretations, I read your idea and immediately thought of the Day the Earth Stood Still. As to where it could lead. First you could apply, For every action there is an equal and oppisite reaction. If one Law changed, was changed, did another one come in to existence, or another become stronger? Are there researchers who Saw It Coming? Financial collapse, no Long distance communication. Medications cannot be manufactured. Nation states of a certain size cannot be sustained. If They Saw It Coming, could there be a Cabal set up to take over and Rule? They could justify almost anything by claiming foresight. Seeing your country collapse and turn into autocratic city-states? Might be PC's could work for Them and in thier Name bring more areas into line, then realize who they, the PC's, are really serving and turn against Them. or The PC's might be scientists who are aware of the force behind the loss of transmission and harnessed a way to suppress the effect locally and try to figure out what to do with the knowledge.

  18. My players are entering a desert wasteland scape. How do I model the distortion from heat? -'s to OCV? 2x Range mods? Flat out miss chance based on Images that the target is in another hex? Invisible to IR based on higher than body temp background heat? Any thoughts on how to &*% with my players let me know
  19. Re: GMing a Post Apocalypse campaign I am working on some vehicles for my run anyway, so when I finish some I will post here.
  20. Re: GMing a Post Apocalypse campaign Welcome killer7. I run a Gamma Hero game based on the Gamma World setting. Yes, it is a little lame to use the Fallout material, but so what? It is a great place to start, has plenty of material to convert. If your players have not played Fallout then use it, if they have played it or become aware that the game is based on the computer game, then you as GM have work ahead of you. The first rule of Fight club, err running Hero, is know the rules. If you are going to have Mad Max like action, read up on vehicle combat, create some vehicles of varying tech or abilities. Will you have Segment by Segment move? Can you convert MPH to KPH? Do you have rules for vehicle hit location? The second rule is..something you are already doing. Ask question and solicit help for problems here on the boards.
  21. Re: Modelling Explosives : TNT Excellant. Thanks Toadmaster
  22. Re: Modelling Explosives : TNT Thanks Steamtek.
  23. Found this on Wikipedia: Grams TNT Symbol Tons TNT Symbol Energy gram of TNT g microton of TNT μT 4.184×103 J at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TNT_equivalent I looked in 5th ed. rev. pg. 487 one stick is listed at 5 d6, with a strange progression. I need to find the charts someone did of expressions of d6 in J. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TNT_equivalent 1 foot-pounds = 1.35581795 joules NOTE: I made the classic mistake and confused TNT for Dynamite. Dynamite uses nitroglycerin, not TNT. I am trying to find data on Nitro, which as a compoinent in dynamite is approx. 40 to 60 %.
  24. Re: Damage flowchart? Ok, back now from house sitting and vacation. Will finish this project in about one or two days. Then will post in a few file formats
