  1. I'm curious about the tone. Is it as "dark" as Snyder's other DC movies, or more upbeat?
  2. This is the bias even among some scientists that always gets my goat, that Life has to be based on Terrestrial standards. Jupiter could be swarming with methane breathers that make our planet's population look like a drop in the bucket.
  3. I'm quite enjoying the current Superman and Lois TV series. Tyler Hoechlin has always had the character of Clark Kent down, but the writers of this series are finally treating his Superman with the respect due the Man of Steel. The superheroics are depicted in high quality for television, but there's more emphasis on intrigue and family drama, the kind of challenges Superman can't solve with brute force. And unlike the other CW super shows, it's only the teenagers in the cast who behave like teenagers. The adults have real adult issues, which they approach with more maturity (for the most part).
  4. I can't help but contrast movie Captain Marvel with movie Wonder Woman. The former follows the trope of having a woman show how strong she is the same way that men are expected to show strength: be hard, suppress your emotions, because emotions are "weakness." Wonder Woman sacrifices none of what are commonly thought of as the "feminine" qualities of compassion and love. Rather than make her weak, they give her strength.
  5. If that was possible, there'd be a YouTube video of it. Come to think of it, there's probably a YouTube video showing why it's impossible.
  6. We differ from most herd/swarm animals on this planet, in being smart individually and collectively stupid.
  7. The thrust of "super-magic" is the kind of magical powers you see in superhero comic books. Magical girls are manga/anime, a different set of conventions.
  8. When Steve met Sam Wilson he was working at the VA, hence no longer active military. After the events of Civil War he was a wanted criminal on the lam. Then he was snapped and disappeared for five years. I'm thinking his credit would be pretty well nonexistent.
  9. Insert Florida joke here. 😖 Being stupid enough to allow a citywide superspreader event to be held during a pandemic, of course they were too stupid to anticipate this would happen. I'd say Miami Beach deserves what it gets, except their swarms of patrons will now play Typhoid Mary to the rest of us.
  10. If you don't mind spending $5.00 you might look at Dean Shomshak's Super Mage Bestiary PDF for 4E Hero. It includes an organization for Champions, The Hunter's Moon, which is strongly feminist in outlook (although not exclusively feminine), is patronized by the goddess Hecate, and which practices witchcraft as well as lycanthropy. If you substitute Gremlin-style transformation for the lycanthropy, and perhaps make it even more female centered, it might be a good template for WITCH, or at least suggest some elements you could lift. BTW I remember some discussion on these forums involving players in the very early Champions campaigns, to the effect that the formula which transformed Gremlin was the same as made Gargoyle, the microphone-munching member of the Guardians superhero team.
  11. As someone who likes his meat well done: I've sacrificed my hard-earned money on the altar of your restaurant, stop whining and give me my food the way I damn well want it!
  12. It would have made a big difference if they still had Black Panther. Feige had implied he'd have taken a prominent role in the upcoming MCU. Of course they now have the X-Men and FF to add to the mix.
  13. Keep in mind that part of Hope's "nad-crushing" in AMATW was prompted by feeling betrayed by Scott while the two of them were romantically involved. Wasp for most of the character's existence has been flighty and flippant and pretty sexualized. That last wouldn't fly too well in today's social climate, while they already have Paul Rudd for the first two.
  14. Nature's version of the home with a barbed-wire fence.
  15. You are a naughty girl. But some players like naughty.
  16. Hey, they didn't declare him "King of the Americans." But I don't think G cares what humans call him.
  17. Godzilla became King the old-fashioned way, by killing everyone who didn't agree.
  18. "Eat your greens and you'll grow up big and strong like your ol' Dad."
  19. I dunno, that would start to feel rather gimmicky to me. The premise the trailers seem to imply is that the ancestors of Godzilla and Kong were rivals for Alpha status among the Titans, so for the proto-Kong to fashion something specifically to level the playing field with Godz seems like an extraordinary but appropriate measure. A whole arsenal of such specialized weapons sounds like a giant ape version of Q from the Bond films.
  20. If the GM is familiar with the system, all the features of 6E Shrinker aren't relevant. The GM uses the elements of the character he needs during play. The players aren't supposed to see her character sheet, so a 4E or 6E writeup for her makes no difference to them. Now, if you want to talk about Shrinker as an example character for new players, I can certainly appreciate your concern.
  21. It would have been an easy fix, though. Just change the wording to, "half of all human beings/intelligent life." Doesn't change Thanos's motivation and plan at all. What Thanos could have been thinking, and again, this would be an easy addition to the dialogue, is that once everyone realized how much better their lives were with lower population, they would take steps to prevent getting into the same situation again. Essentially Thanos was giving everyone a second chance to "get it right." That would be far from the most unreasonable assumption about human behavior ever made.
