  1. Re: WWYCD #122 (or so): Strange Visitor
  2. Re: Warp's Crossovers Hmmm, maybe since it's Golden Age Pulp-inspired, Germany's new ally Ming the Merciless would use his alien superscience to help the Nazis defend themselves against the Allies new allies. I don't think any of the Sentinels do but as they'd mostly be trying to capture an agent of V'han for information purposes any form of reflection used will at most knock out a character. Warp himself would probably try to capture him with his Spatial Distortion Trap (Entangle) or maneuver him via his Involuntary Displacement Attack (Teleport vs Other, Defense is having Teleport or other Dimensional Manipulation Powers) into a position where someone else could nab him. Eventually the misunderstanding would probably be rectified, and Talion will be able to be sent back to his world. Unless of course Talion's Unluck interfere's with Warp's attempt to send him back and he lands up in Nazi World or something.
  3. Warp's Crossovers I'm going to make a separate post for each of my characters encountering various "guest stars." Here's Warp's first. Audra Blue: Considering her phobias and the fact that the fight was probably taking place outside would mean she'd be going into panic attack pretty fast. If Warp realizes the cause of her panic he'd port her to an indoor area he's familiar with that's in his range, like perhaps a room at the Barlowe Hotel or Microman I's lab. After she was calmed down enough he and the rest of the Sentinels would talk to her and then find out what happened. Warp would try to reopen the gate that deposited her on their world and run into the interference mentioned above. Since she's stuck on their world for a week, Warp would try to be a good host and spring for any equipment or medicine she needs. He would want to know more about her Earth and what caused the gate that sent her to his. He might also ask her to help out as a consultant on the computer systems that are going to be installed in the Sentinel's base. Anthem (Blue's): After finding out where she's from, what happened, and how her world is different, Warp helps her out by setting her up with a room at the Barlowe till he manages to get her home. If she wants to go patroling Warp will show her around Millenium City if she doesn't know her way around (since he's got AK 14- of it) and will be on call for pop-in assistance should she encounter something too big for her to handle. She could also help in some Sentinels missions, especially those involving a lot of low powered minions or henchmen. Uncle Slam: Same as Anthem, except that thanks to his higher power level he could actually hang with the Sentinels against major threats. Heck, with his Invulnerability (invisible effects Desolid) he looks tougher than even Horus. Baron Darien: This will be interesting as the Baron comes from an alternate Sentinels team in which Horus-Re is the only member in common. He'll recognize Horus but not the rest of the team, while Horus, depending on how history went here, either woudn't know him or would recognize him as that mortal who he met centuries ago. Either way Horus would know the Baron isn't lying, so the idea that it could be a trick would be diminished. After finding out what happened Warp and the others would question him about his Earth and whether the current situation involving probes apparently sent by Isvatha V'han is happening there as well. A general information exchange about the status and activities of various villains and organizations would happen. Warp personally would also try to ask about his secret id and his father without tipping the Baron off to his secret id. Tricky if not impossible due to the Baron's intellect and suspcious nature. Best chance to do this would be when everyone is trying to figure out all the divergences between worlds, and also when the subject of the robot attack of Daniel Stone comes up in the discussion about probe activities. When the Baron returns home he'll be taking back a proposal to his Sentinel team for an alliance between teams in regards to multidimensional threats such as V'han. Thanks to Warp's Opening application of his Dimensional Manipulation power he'd be able to reopen the gate anytime he wished after the "interdimensional storm" ended, thus enabling the teams to potentially have regular communication and a long term working relationship. Dr. Pain: He'd get asked if the Sentinels exist in any form on his world, and just the general info about it as well. If he teams up with the Sentinels for the week that he's there I can see him and Warp getting into a contest on who can put down the villains with wise ass remarks the best. Husky/Kenneth: Assuming that he arrives in Husky form, due to the lack of serum and the desire to keep his secret id he'll be stuck as Husky for the duration of his stay. Outgoing and charming, he'd get along well with all of the Sentinels. Warp would try to warn him away from Cyrande (he thinks she's trouble), and they probably have a snappy banter contest while fighting villains. Cannis: Well, she'll probably be smart enough not to reveal herself as a supervillain so the team wouldn't have any immediate problems with her. However, thanks to Horus's truth sense the team will find out eventually when asking her about her world. Since she hasn't commited any crimes on their Earth and isn't a mad dog killer type the Sentinels won't do anything but keep a close eye on her while she's their guest. She could go where she wants until she commits a crime. Warp would be interested in the state of mutants where she's from, and try to talk her out of her current criminal lifestyle by pointing out that it might contribute to the problem. Since the state of human-mutant relations seem to be worse on her world, would also ask whether she wants to go back, or if she would rather stay and make a new life for herself on a world where the IHA and its positions are more on the fringe. Sailor Io: Young, innocent looking girl with super powers? Warp will see her like another Starguard and treat her in a similar manner. He'd find her world seriously weird (no mutants or public super humans) and be curious if he and his family had an analog in her world. Conversely, Sailor Io might find the existence of non-supernatural threats equal or greater to the enemies she usually fights weird, as well as the public nature of the superhumans and weirdness. Style: Asked about his world like the others. The Sentinels would definitely try to enlist him as a mystical consultant for the duration of his stay on their Earth. Flesh Gordon: When the team learns he was once a prisoner of Isvatha V'han their interest will be peaked. As a high ranking defector from her empire, Warmaster Fielan might be able to discern which of his recollections of her realm are real. Warp will try to warn Flesh against getting involved with Cyrande, but of course he won't listen. If Flesh wanders around Millenium City he and Warp's secret id multibillionaire playboy Daniel Stone could end up in competing for the same woman. Menagerie: Her true nature will quickly be discovered due to Menagerie not knowing to lie to her "fellow mutants" after they help her repel the flatscan attack by VIPER. Once Warp finds out she's a mutant supremacist terrorist who's gleefully killed humans in the name of her cause he's going to try to beat the holy crap out of her. He won't kill her but if his teammates don't intervene quickly she's going to get pretty messed up. She presses all the wrong buttons for him. She's a casual killer of humans, and he has Protective of Innocents and Hatred of Casual Killers. She's a mutant supremacist and he's trying to support tolerance between humans and mutants. The only way she's getting sent back to her world by him is gift wrapped for the authorities, and with a disk full of information about her cohorts that the team mentalist extracted from her mind. Stopwatch: Once her background is known Warp will try to appeal to both her better instincts and her self interest to turn her life around and quit the mutant gang she's in. On the powers front, being in the vicinity of her time control powers might help awaken the temporal aspects of his Dimensional Manipulation power. Unfortunately, since they're both inexperienced with time manipulation, it will be like the blind leading the blind. Still, Warp could learn some very useful tricks from her. Pinnacle: She'd probably get along with all of the Sentinels. Warp would find a world in which superhumans hadn't been around much longer than he's been active strange. Pinnacle would get to train with a team that has superbeings more experienced than any on her world, which could give her an edge when she goes back. The Mask of Justice: After figuring out what happened to him the first thing the Sentinels will do is try to look him up in the history books to find out if he ever got back or not. One of two things could possibly happen. Either they find out if and when he got back, or they discover that there was no Mask of Justice in their WWII era, meaning that he's from an alternate timeline. If he's actually from their past, then the question is whether or not history has any record of his activities after the date he said it was when he fell through the gate. If there is no record, then obviosly he didn't make it back and it would be futile or dangerous to try to send him back. If history books do record deeds of his after the date of his time travel, then Warp will try to send him back. The big problem then becomes keeping Nick from seeing too much of the future before he goes back, to prevent changing history. And there's also the temptation for Warp to go back with him and try to kill Dr. Albert Zerstoiten, the man who would become Dr. Destroyer. If it turns out there's no record of a Mask of Justice, then obviously the Mask is from an alternate dimension. In that case, worries of changing history or temporal paradox won't exist. The big question will be whether to go back with him when Warp manages to successfully reopen the gate and help him beat the Axis. Warp would argue for doing this, saying that "One of the greatest evils the world has ever known is happening again, and this time we have a chance to end it." Starguard would probably support him on this. If the Sentinels do go, unless the Nazis have some really nifty plot devices in reserve Hitler and his cronies go down a lot earlier. Rock Bottom: Warp and the rest of the Sentinels probably get along with him ok for the week he's with them. Calculus: He would be a big help figuring everything on the Sentinels' plate. Depending on what sciences he knows, Warp could get some valuable insight into the nature of dimensions and how his power interacts with them. Warp might also ask him to enhance some of his gadgets or make some new ones for him. Kira Midori: Alas, while Warp can open the gate back to her world after the week long "continuum storm", at his current mastery of his power he can't send her to her own time but only to the time she left from. However, there is a man who might be able to help her unless he doesn't exist in Jeff's campaign, Captain Chronos. Warp and the rest of the Sentinels could help Kira track him down and ask for his help in sending Kira back to her own time as well as her own world. Talion: With his Unluck he could be mistaken for a V'han minion when he shows up. Spectrum: He's from the same Alt Sentinels team as Baron Darien, and will be treated similarly. Of course, Spectrum would suggest than not only would their teams working together be a good idea, but would raise the possibility of his United States opening up diplomatic relations with their United States. Mystic: Once the Sentinels learn about what happened and who he is, they would welcome his help for as long as he's there. Mystic would be disappointed that this Earth's Archmage was also dead. He would be interested in talking to Horus, who has an counterpart on his world, and fascinated by Starguard, who would register quite brightly on his mystic senses. Warp, for his part, is not a big expert on magic, though he would be interested to know whether or not his Dimensional Manipulation powers could allow him to reach the "Higher Dimensions" that Mystic talks about. Flippant: Warp would be fascinated to talk to a skilled dimensional traveller, and ask if he could help him refine the extradimensional aspects of his own power. The Sentinels would also be interested if he had heard any news about Isvatha V'han and her empire in any of the dimensions he's been to, and what other extradimensional threats were out there that he knew about. Thanks to both Flippant's and Warp's powers, establishing a regular long term relationships between their two worlds should be easy. Air Raider: Will have to tone down any tendencies to kill while with the Sentinels, lest he find himself turned over to the authorities rather than helped back to his world. His desire to get back to Bridget and the fact that Warp is the only one he knows who could help him would probably help him refrain from killing unless absolutely necessary. Hardware: When the Sentinels take him in he'd probably end up talking shop with Microman and his dad. He could be a really big help on the cases they're working on. Warp would ask if he could improve on the gadgets he has or make some things he wants that the companies he buys from haven't managed to do yet. Tiger Shark: Hmmm, Starguard might be able to cure him if he expresses his wish, but allowing him to change at will back and forth between forms might be a little tricky. If she can't, Warp will suggest just transforming him so he has the abilities of his current form but a human appearance. Ballistic: Warp and the others would be interested in his knowledge of other dimensions, and his mystical skills would be a big help while he's around. Especially now that Horus is looking into Starguard's origin. Special Agent Trent: Will be kept far away from Warmaster Fielan. And due to his relatively fragile nature, will be loaned a suit of lightweight body armor by Warp. If he refuses to put it on Warp will just teleport it onto him. WILL DO REST LATER Apex: Wildcard: Tao: By the way, this thread should come in handy for people trying to figure out various guest stars. The New Sentinels thread could also be useful.
  4. How would your characters be like if they were created in a silly toon game, rather than whatever setting they are, and were toon characters??
  5. Re: "Grond smash!" and other Grond plots Being Grond: An budding entrepeneur has discovered a mystical portal into Grond's mind that lets people possess him for fifteen minutes at a time. Naturally, he decides to make big bucks selling tickets to people for the privellage of being Grond. Now it appears to the public that Grond is acting intelligently, but behaving quite random and erratically as various clients use Grond to settle scores, commit crimes, or just have a good time fighting heroes. And who created the mystical portal anyway, and what was its original intended purpose?
  6. Re: I' m in a philosophical mood tonight. Same here. Warp got into the super hero game to protect innocent people. If no one needs protection anymore he could just go back to living his life as Daniel Stone, billionaire playboy and financial whiz, and enjoy life just fine. Spectrum was originally an astronaut, so he could go back to exploration, and perhaps working to learn to consciously access the Progenitor Knowledge in his head. And Mystic could divide his time between writing novels and magical research.
  7. Re: WWYCD? #116: A Tech Support Problem Warp: "All right, I'll help you, but only on one condition. You get out of the villain supplying business." He would have gone and help stop ARGENT anyway, but he wouldn't turn down a chance to deprive villains of an equipment supplier. Spectrum: Would go after ARGENT in any case as a national security issue. Would also force the Toymaker to cooperate with the US government and turnover the specs on all the gadgets he sold to various villains, and to basically subborn him into working undercover to help nab villains who use him as a supplier. Mystic: Would help, but would demand he take a mystical oath not to sell gadgets to any villains anymore in return.
  8. Re: WWYCD #115: Xerox Paradox...Baby Blues! Warp: When his mutant power were originally stimulated he just developed teleportation, Spatial Awareness, and his Defensive Spatial Shunt. All the other applications of his Dimensional Manipulation came from experimentation and practice. So younger versions of himself won't pose that big a threat, though they'd be very hard to round up. A chase could range over the entire world. Daniel might have to figure out a dimensional anchoring application of his power to successfully catch them all. He would catch them all eventually and then get his team mates to help get rid of any brainwashing or programming they might have undergone. Then he'd raise them all in secret as best he could, hopefully with help from the rest of the Sentinels. What really hurts is that whoever did this could now very likely know Warp's secret id. It all depends on how young the clones are and whether the one responsible noticed a certain ressemblence to a famous multi-billionaire playboy. Oh, and whatever else happens, Tesserect would be in heaven. Due to the interaction of their powers proximity to Warp gives her a pleasurable sensation and active use of his powers makes it stronger. So Warp chasing half a dozen mini-versions of himself would be pure bliss as far as she's concerned. Spectrum: Since the duplicates have some of his memories this obviously was an attempt by Spectrum's Mystery Hunted to access the Progenitor Knowledge downloaded into his subconscious. Spectrum would try to get the government to put as many resources as it could to help him capture and deprogram them, as due to both their powers and his memories they would be serious security risks. Mystic: Would try to ascertain the nature of his duplicates before he decided how to deal with them. Are they clones who are truly individuals, or aspects of himself somehow mystically split off by an arcane opponent? Clones or other free-willed entities would be dealt with by freeing them from the control of malevolent entities or hostile spellcasters, and then taking them on as apprentices. Split off aspects of himself he'd deal with by cleansing them of any mystic taint or influence, and then absorbing them back into himself.
  9. Re: WWYCD #21: Meet George Jetson... Warp: "Hey, from our perspective the future hasn't happened yet, so there's nothing wrong with following Nemos advice." *encases Radox in Spatial Distortion Trap* "And as far as I'm concerned, stopping Dr. Destroyer is a good thing." Spectrum: "My duty is to my country and world in the present. Your concerns over changing future history are not a valid reason to not deal with current threats with any means availabe to us, including Nemos aid." *Blinks for a second as Progenitor Knowledge arises* "Besides, as far as temporal mechanics are concerned any changes affected pose no threat to the Space-Time structure as a whole." Mystic: Uses arcane senses to see if Nemos aid is causing disruptions in the metaphysical fabric.
  10. Re: Villains, Vandals, and Vermin: Who should be in it? How about one or two "historical" villains, for people who might want to run games or adventures in past eras of Champions. Also useful if one lets them come out of retirement/ressurected/awaken from suspended anmation/time travel in order to be used in present day campaigns.
  11. Re: Wwycd #119: Kltpzyxm! Warp: "So let me get this straight, you've turned everyone in the world into super villains?" "Yeah, that's right. Just to vex you." "Cool. Thanks." "What?" "I became a superhero to protect innocent people from supervillains. Since everyone is a super villain, I don't have to protect anyone. You've done me a favor." " " "Oh look, there's Leacherous Lass. Gotta go say hi to the new villainess and give her a good welcome. Catch you later." By this point he should realizes he was beaten at his own game, change things back, and go back to his own dimension to sulk. Spectrum: A method to get rid of such beings arises from the Progenitor Knowledge in his subconscious and he uses it. Mystic: Researches entity in order to find a way to mystically bind him and make him change things back. If that doesn't work takes Mr. Mxyzptlk to Cosmic Court (The Honerable Living Tribunal presiding) and sues him for Upsetting the Natural Balance of The Multiverse.
  12. Re: Alternate Earth 21: A Study In Emerald -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Assuming the events and history of the short story are transposed onto the Champions Universe... Warp: The changepoint in history is recent enough (700 years before the Victorian era) that the evolutionary potential of humanity would not be affected. So mutants will still be emerging. That established, Daniel Stone's powers emerge when a rampaging German noble playing with Mad Science devestates Detroit while he and his mother were visiting the city. Enraged by the death of his mother and the rest of the city, Daniel Stone vows to use his powers, skills, and resources on behalf of the Restorationist movement. And being the son of Robber Baron Franklin Stone, and immensely wealthy in his own right, those resources are considerable. Helping him in this endevor is his lover the beautiful Laura Palmaris, a brilliant scholar in the forbidden disciplines (because of their potential to be applied to the expulsion of entities to other dimensions) of Advanced Mathematics, Higher Level Geometry, Planar Sorcery, and Dimensional Science. Together the explore the potential of his powers and her scientific understanding, hoping one day to become powerful and knowledgable enough to banish the Kings and their spawn from the Earth. Until that time they work secretly with the resistance organization VIPER, the largest and most formidable Restorationist organizations on the planet. Together with their fellow members of the elite superhuman Dragon Squads, they strike back at the monsters who dare to rule the World of Man. Spectrum: A zealous member of a New World restorationist movement, Jack Chrichton volunteered to pilot an experimental Mad Science rocket in a desperate attempt to find allies against the Edomites in the worlds beyond. Launched into the void, he succeeded beyond his wildest dreams, making contact with a probe of the mysterious and godlike ancient alien race known as The Progenitors. Scanning Crichton's memory, the Probe learned of the subjugation of humanity by the elderitch Kings and determined that enslavement by such extradimensional entities violated its directive to safeguard the natural evolution and progress of one of the species of interest to its masters. To counter this development, it uplifted Crichton into an energized corporeal state with the properties of both energy and matter capable of vast manipulations of the basic universal forces, and downloaded the complete knowledge stored in its memory into the restortionist's mind. After this enlightenment Crichton then gathered Progenitor technology and knowledge from hidden repositories to help the Restorationist cause. Now armed with immense personal power, the knowledge of the godlike Progenitors, and an arsenal of their supertechnological artifacts Jack Crichton is the Vangard in the fight against the Edomites, harrying the Kings and their spawn until they are scoured from the Earth. Mystic: Still Under Construction
  13. Re: WWYCD #115: Xerox Paradox...Baby Blues! What Would Your Character Do? The idea of these threads is to propose a premise that one or more of the posters Champions character is involved with, and then you post how they deal with it.
  14. Re: Supers & Media: Fatal Attraction. I just thought of a nasty image smearing ambush: Host: Horus, we've got a special guest who has something they want to say to you. *Intro music plays as Viperia walks onto the stage* Viperia: You've got to quit your running around with your hero friends and start supporting our kid! Host: Did I just hear that right? Viperia: "You sure did. Horus is my baby's daddy!"
  15. Re: WWYCD #114: Ah, Love or Aw, Crud?
  16. Re: Supers & Media: Fatal Attraction. Amusingly, my character has more problems with the media in his Secret ID than in his Hero ID. As Daniel Stone he's Famous and Watched By The Media, what with being a young and handsome multi-billionaire who has been involved with a few female celebreties in his personal life. While as Warp he's overshadowed by his more impressive and celebrated teammates such as Horus and now Starguard. Which is fine with him. He doesn't mind fading into the background and letting someone else be the target for the spotlight. Heck, being Warp is a great way to take a break from being scrutinized by the media. And while there may be a risk to his secret identity, being able to teleport, having access to holographic image inducers, and owning an android double is certainly great for minimizing it.
  17. Re: WWYCD #114: Ah, Love or Aw, Crud? Warp: "So you're sure the girl isn't using any sort of mental powers on Horus, Warmaster? Ok then, I guess it's true love then. Of course, you know what this means?" "What?" "We have to throw him a BACHELOR PARTY!" Spectrum: "Baron Darien is getting married? Googly eyed and in love? This has to be some sort of ruse." Mystic: "Well, my mystic senses confirm it's True Love. I guess I should start conjuring up a wedding gift."
  18. Re: What would your character do? V Warp: Would call for the guards himself, and cooperate with the investigation. He knows that he didn't lay a hand on the guy, and forensic evidence would exonerate him. And if worst came to worst, he could submit to a telepathic scan to ascertain his innocence. Spectrum: Same as above, except with even more confidence that his word would be taken and he would be exhonerated due to his reputation. Mystic: Summons the guy's ghost and have him testifry that he didn't do it. That, along with the physical evidence, will prove he's not guilty.
  19. Re: What would your Character Do? Warp: Cut his head off. Warp has a very strong personal reason to want Doctor Destroyer dead, due to his mother being killed in the Battle of Detroit. Spectrum: Makes sure it wasn't just a ploy, and if it wasn't, makes sure to disable all the armor and gadgets on him and uses his capture to break the morale of his minions. He'll worry about having medical aid administered to the doctor only after his minions are defeated. It's a military situation, and defeat of the enemy is the highest priority. If he dies, oh well. If he lives, well then a War Crimes Trial will be in order. Mystic: Uses soul sight to make sure this is Doctor Destroyer, then animates the Destroyer's body and have it order his minions to surrender.
  20. Re: What would your character do? #4 Warp: If the robot is here to rescue Impulse, that means Impuse would be good bait. Warp grabs the sedated body of Impulse and uses it to lure the robot away from the base and into a trap set by his fellow Sentinels, keeping just out of reach thanks to his teleporation. And if turns out to just be a mental illusion, Warp's psi-blocker combined with mental protection from Warmaster Fielan will keep it from fooling him. Oh, and just to be sure a subcantaneous tracker has been put into Impulse's body in case his girlfriend does manage to rescue him. Track them via satellite and then teleport-ambush them when they least suspect it. Spectrum: EMP's the robot while using radar to scan the area for other would be rescuers. Impulse has been marked with a radioactive dye that will allow Spectrum to track him in case his girlfriend does manage to liberate him. Mystic: Sends Impulse into a pocket dimension and then summons gremlins to confound the robot. Since he knew Impulse's girlfriend is a mentalist he would have augmented his mental defenses mystically.
