  1. Re: WWYCD? #112: Polly Want A Cracker? Warp: "Step away from the parrot, Starguard!" *Entraps parrot in Spatial Distortion Trap* "All right, the jig is up! Your buddies all rolled over on you! You might as well confess now to make things easy on you." If the above bluff doesn't get the parrot talking, then he calls the team mentalist. Spectrum: NND's (Immunity to High Radiation is the Defense) the bird and then turns it over to the team mentalist. Mystic: Immobilizes it with the Ruby Bands of Bakerak, and then casts a spell to read its mind.
  2. You and your team mates had gotten involved in a conflict so cosmic it basically pitted every hero on Earth (and a few from beyond) against a godlike villain who threatened the very universe itself. The ensuing battle was devestating, leaving dead heroes and shattered worlds in its wake. But in the end the good guys prevailed, and you not only survived but somehow managed through either skill, power, cleverness, or luck, to wrest the immensely powerful Omnipotence Glove from the villain's hand. Now you wield infinite might, as each of the Reality Jewels on the Glove gives you complete and utter control over an entire aspect of Existence. For all intents and purposes, you now have the power of God. What do you do with it?
  3. Re: WWYCD #110- Dark Guardian Warp: Has 360 degree Spatial Awareness, so he won't have to turn around if Eddie is behind him. "I'm glad you were there to keep INSERT NAME HERE from being harmed. As long as you're just here to protect her, I've got no problems with you." Afterwards goes to consult someone more versed in mystic matters to figure out what exactly Eddie is, and whether he poses a threat to the girl or innocents in general. Spectrum: A variation of the above. Mystic: Possibly the next Archmage, he has the knowledge and power to identify what Eddie is, determine his motives, and banish him if it turns out to be less benevolent than the girl thinks he is. Eddie better be good, or Eddy gets a ticket to Hell.
  4. Re: WWYCD? #108 (I think)- Clash of the Titans Warp: Do his best to keep people from being killed until the time comes to go after Takofanes with the rest of the Sentinels. And will be trying to persuade the team to go after Dr. Destroyer as soon as possible afterwards, while he's still weakened. Spectrum: As an Air Force Colonel and government super hero, he'll go where he's ordered. If up to his descretion he'll probably be in the vangard of an attack against Takofanes, who is identified as nominally the greater threat. Mystic: Identifying Takofances as the greater threat to humanity and existence, will use all his magical power to turn things against his favor, including subborning summoned minions and using them against Takofanes and using his magic to increase the difficulty of Takofanes using his.
  5. Re: Wwycd #107 Warp: Refuse the money and take them in. But follow up with an investigation on the alledged crimes they accused the government of. Spectrum: Air Force Colonel and Government super hero. He'll do his duty and take them in. He'll also use his considerable influence and contacts in the government and military to investigate the supposed program and see that anyone involved in crimes get put up on charges as well. Mystic: Uses magic to ascertain the truth of the villain's accusations. Turns in the villains anyway, but also arranges for those in the program guilty of crimes to have their crimes exposed. It's amazing how "coincidence" can uncover all sorts of evidence when a potential archmage is pushing things along.
  6. Re: WWYCD #111: Hero Worship Warp: *Sideways glance at team mates Horus and Starguard* "Let me get this straight. Out of all the members of the Sentinels you could have chosen you decided to worship me as a god? Guys, I think you have to seriously work on your critical thinking skills." Spectrum: "The circumstances regarding my transformation are a matter of public record. I'm not a god, merely a man altered by advanced alien technology who tries his best to serve his country." Mystic: "I am merely a practioner of the mystic arts. A potent and powerful one, yes, but that alone does not make me a divinity."
  7. Re: Healing Champions Thought of one more, sort of: Temporal Manipulation. As far as the injuries are concerned, they're healing at the normal and natural rate. It just seems incredibly fast to the rest of the universe. Of course, since it's just the body's natural healing process accelerated temporally, one would have to take some limitation preventing the healing from affecting anything that the subject itself could not naturally get over. EDIT: Just thought of a variation that wouldn't have such limitations. Rewinding the subject back to the state before the injury was inflicted, and then letting them go on their way.
  8. Re: High End Cannoical Character in Champions Universe
  9. Re: High End Cannoical Character in Champions Universe If you are going to have 350 point heroes be the regular saviors of the world, don't put them in a world full of 1000 point villains. Anyway, I think fears of PC Heroes being overshadowed by more powerful NPC's existent in the campaign world aren't warranted. Just because they're more powerful doesn't mean they are going to render the actions of the PC's in a campaign irrelevant. Look at the comics. Spiderman shares a world with the Avengers, Dr. Strange, and any number of heroes more powerful than him. But do they overshadow him in his own book? No, because they aren't the focus of his book. He and the villains and situations he's dealing with are. Samething with a campaign. Just because there are more powerful heroes in the background of the world doesn't mean that they will interfere with or overshadow the adventures and actions of the PC's.
  10. Re: Games gone awry Perhaps, but the GM in question treated all the players but one like shit first. Courtesy is only obligatory to those who are courteous to you. Anything else is optional. If I'm on a high-horse, it's only because others climbed up on theirs first and insisted on a horse race. So get off your own and leave the track if you don't want this to continue.
  11. Re: Painting the PCs as villains in as few sessions as possible I'm too busy trying to wrap my mind around the concept of an evil Starguard to be afraid of her. Stargaurd as a Bad Girl?
  12. Re: WWYCD #94: The Nar Cola endorsement Warp: Not only is Warp a multibillionaire but he enjoys the fact that in Hero ID his fellow team mates outshine him as far as the media is concerned. He already has to deal with the burdens of fame in his secret id. He has absolutely no incentive to endorse Nar Cola. Spectrum: Is a Colonel in the United States Airforce and official government super hero. It would be against regulations to shill cola, and beneath the dignity of his position to boot. Mystic: Has more important concerns to be dealing with to endorse products, such as the defense of Earth and the dimension it's located in.
  13. Re: WWYCD #92 - Zero Sum Warp: "Excuse me, but what gives you the right to impose this on anyone? We're a species of individuals, not some sort of hive, and individuals should be judged as individuals. Punishing everyone collectively for the sins of individuals would be a great injustice. And it would also be hurting people for no reason except because they're different. If you are so wise and advanced you should be beyond things like simple racism." Spectrum: Coolest Outcome? The encounter stimulates the memory of Spectrum, specifically the knowledge of the Progenitors downloaded into his subconcious, and he ends up summoning them to see who the hell dares to tamper so with humanity. Things have just gotten a lot more complicated. Mystic: Would point out that to impose such a sentence on humanity would be upsetting the natural order of the universe, and could have dire consequences not only for humanity, but perhaps for the cosmos itself.
  14. Re: WWYCD #92: Back to the Future Warp: Since he's a dimensional manipulator and Time is just another dimension, he has the potential to possibly get back to his own time some day. Unfortunately, at this point in his history he's just mastered the basics of spatial manipulation and is just starting on extradimensional applications of his power, so it will be a while before he'd even be able to try and return. First thing he'd try to do is try to find some of his fellow Sentinels. He knows at least two of his comrades are potentially immortal. Horus is a god, and Microman is an android. Starguard could also be around, but he doesn't know she's unaging. But if she is around he would hear about her during his research. Cyrande may also be around thanks to Malvan biotechnology. He'd also look to see if he had any relatives left, and whether his father's company managed to survive all this time or not (he'd think it would be a long shot, but might as well check it out anyway). Of course, he'd also be looking for ways to get back home as well, either by exploring new aspects of his powers or by external assistance. And he'd step up to the plate and do the super hero thing the whole time he's there. Just because he's lost in time doesn't mean he can set aside his responsibilities. In the end, he'll either eventually make it back home with some neat gear and knowledge that will help deal with all sorts of problems that will be popping up, or a surviving Sentinel will convince him things turned out for the best and that he should make a new life for himself in the future. Spectrum: I don't have Galatic Champions but from what I've heard of future history it's safe to assume the United States did not make it to the 31st century as an independent nation. That would make Spectrum, Air Force Colonel and government sanctioned super hero, a man without a country. For the first time since he got his powers, he'd be utterly independent. He probably would be an independent hero who concentrated in protecting humanity and friendly civilizations against the various threats in this time. Unless of course either Baron Darien or Horus-Re are alive and active. Then he'd look them up and assist them in their endevours. He'd do research to see if anyone else had ever managed to encounter an active Progenitor Probe, and what, if any, new things had been learned about the mysterious and ancient godlike aliens in the past throusand years. He might even go searching for them or their legacy in his spare time. Mystic: Was going to potentially be the next Archmage. Someone else probably has the office in this time so he'd look him up and try to become his apprentice. He'd learn as much as he can from the Archmage while trying to research a spell that would take him back to his own time.
  15. Re: WWYCD #91 - A matter of Family =You overlooked in your zeal to crucify Chuck that he had addressed that point. He said his character would cure him. Starguard did so openly, and Dr. Pain did so anonymously. So it looks like turns out you were the one who missed that point. And those thorns were dealt with. You just weren't paying attention. Glad everyone agrees on one thing. With the above passage I wouldn't be talking about tone. Glass houses and all that.
  16. Re: Games gone awry Actually, it's GM's like the one described who give Gamers a bad name. And while most of the time one finds no choice but to walk away, there's no tragedy when one receives their comeuppence. Unless of course the GM turns it into one by spoiling some players and screwing over others. And insisting the players' every thought be known to the GM? Did you come from the Big Brother school of game mastering? So in your world the GM can do anything he wants, treat the players like dirt, and nothing would be wrong? But if a player does anything but meekly accept it or run away he's suddenly Beyond The Pale? Looks like a double standard to me.
  17. Re: Games gone awry And the actions of the PC's were totally in-character with their personalities and goals. The characters did things that the characters should be wanting to do. That's justification enough. The GM in question was blatantly abusing his power in such a way that ruined the experiences of everyone involved in the game except his best friend. What you call disrupton other's may call justice. Or are you the type who thinks the GM has the right to treat players like dirt if they want to? That only is applicable if what you were saying actually were Truth, which it isn't. It's just your interpetation and assessement, and frankly, it's quite flawed and inaccurate.
  18. Re: Games gone awry It seems to me if you've got characters who worship an entity that wants to bring destruction, death, and damnation to the world you shouldn't be surprised when the characters do their best to help it in such endeavors. Looks like the only thing the above were guilty of was playing in-character. The fact that they didn't pull their blows is not a sin. Pulling one's blows is a courtesy, and from the description of the DM, it looks like he forfieted that courtesy.
  19. Re: WWYCD #90: Brainwave Warp: First thing that will happen is that he will become vastly more powerful. Warp basically has the potential to manipulate the dimensional fabric in any conceivable way. He just has to figure out how to apply his power. With his INT raised from 23 to 43 he would basically gain an almost intuitive insight and understanding of dimensions in relation to his power, letting him master things he has for now only just begun gaining rudimentary skill at such as extradimensional travel, and even things he has yet to have the slightest idea he could do such as temporal manipulations. He would go from a multi-power to a VPP as he literally becomes a master of Space-Time. But wait, there's more! No slouch at finance already, he'd basically become God of Business. Making money would be effortless to him. More than that, he'd now be able to use his new intelligence and his knowledge of business to suss out the financial dealings and manipulations of anyone, no matter who they are or how secretive they try to be. Combine that with his considerable financial resources and influence, and he could wage very damaging economic warfare against villains and villainous organizations. It even gets worse when he gets his powers into the act, projecting his perception into the future or the past to give him the information edge. Many masterminds and groups are going to be hurting quite badly. Spectrum: Not only would all his scientific skills become vastly better, letting him use his ability to manipulate energy even better, but he might find himself able to consciously tap the knowledge of the Progenitors in his head as well, allowing him to recreate their uber-technological achievements on a regular and reliable basis. Dr. Destroyer is dead, along with all other threats to America. Mystic: Was the potential next Archmage. Now is just THE ARCHMAGE.
  20. Re: WWYCD #91 - A matter of Family Warp: Revealing his identity is a non-problem as that can be avoided any number of ways, from just donating anonymously to using an image inducer to pose as someone else entirely when giving blood. The big question is what kind of villain is grandpa. Is he a thief? A crime boss? A serial killer? A meglomaniacal mastermind? Thing is, Warp has a Hatred of Casual Killers which originated when Doctor Destroyer's orbital bombardment killed his mother at the Battle of Detroit. If the grandfather in question is the type of villain who casually left a mountain of corpses in his wake Warp wouldn't give him the transfusion because in his eyes the man would deserve to die. Unless of course Starguard guilts him into it or something. Spectrum: Probably not applicable. He got his powers after encountering the Black Monolith probe of the ancient godlike Progenitors, which transfromed his body into an energized corporeal state which has properties of both matter and energy. While he can experience and enjoy everything an ordinary human can, he has been freed of the limitations of the flesh such as the need to eat or sleep. Thus it is very likely the nature of his transformation has rendered his blood incompatible with the villain. If not, he'll give the transfusion anonymously. And then be there to help make sure the villain doesn't escape the law afterward. Mystic: As the potential next Archmage, he could probably easily cure his grandfather without a transfusion. The question is should he. After all, if his grandfather is his archenemy, then he is probably a big mystic threat to the world, if not the entire dimension. Mystic would have to scry to see which would be worse for the world and universe in the future, saving him or letting him die.
  21. Re: WWYCD #91 - A matter of Family
  22. Re: WWYCD #86 (I think) Warp: Will locate the six and try to get someone with the necessary powers or skills to extract or destroy the Seeds without harmng the innocents. As a backup plan he'll get the Sentinels and any other heroes he can find to the site of emergence, get his powers pumped via an AID by Starguard, and then try to slam the gates shut. He does, after all, bend dimensional fabric like paper. Spectrum: Will locate the six and put them in government custody, and then get experts in every field imaginable to figure a way out to extract the Seeds or keep them from empowering the gate. He won't kill them till all other options are exhausted, and there's no time left for anything else. But if the safety of his country and world are at stake, he will do what is necessary. Then again, he might just tap into the subconscious Progenitor knowledge implanted in him and come up with a godlike superscience way to kill or repel the Kings of Edom themselves upon arrival. Mystic: "Perhaps your magic alone is not enough to touch the vessels, but working together we can cleanse them of this taint." He is potentially the next Archmage, after all. I forsee an adventure in which he and the Old Woman cast a spell which projects the entire teami into the mindscape of each of the six, and then they go and destroy each of the seeds in a dream battle.
  23. Re: Wwycd? #84 Warp: Teleport onto the car and then teleport self with car and its contents to the waiting police. Spectrum: EMP the car to stop it in its tracks and then blasting the rabbits inside into unconsciousness before they can try anything funny. Mystic: Summon a gigantic eraser to rub them out.
  24. Re: What would your character do #83 ? Warp: Present the evidence to his team mates and let them pursue their own means using their reputation or diplomatic pressure, while at the same time in secret identity using his own influence to bring political pressure to bear. "Governor, as you can plainly see this new evidence shows that an innocent man is probably going to be executed unless you do something about it." "I don't care what this new evidence shows. I promised that I would be tough on crime and never pardon anyone no matter what, and I intend to keep that promise." "All right. Then commute the sentence to life. You won't be breaking your promise that way." "And why should I do that? The man was sentenced to death. Give me one good reason I should over turn it." "I'll give you three good reasons. Number one, the man is likely innocent. Number two, if you let this man die I will personally do everything in my power to to see you are never elected to anything ever again." "And number three?" "If the first two aren't enough to convince you, I'll play hardball. I'll call in a favor from my father and get him involved. Now then, would you rather do the right thing now, or after the long and protacted poltical suicide and personal ruin?" Spectrum: Uses his influence with the Federal Government to have the man remanded into his custody as a "Matter of National Security." Mystic: After using his powers to confirm the man's innocence, let's the execution take place and then immediately ressurects him, allowing him to walk free. After all, you can't be executed twice for the same crime.
