  1. Re: Musings on Random Musings How about bosh and piffle? John T
  2. Re: Musings on Random Musings Man, you must be having it ROUGH right now, with all the snowbirds out there right now... though I must say you're terminology for them is a LOT more charitable than MINE! John T
  3. Re: Musings on Random Musings Neh, since I have now officially gotten 7 hrs of sleep in the last 57, that's still WELL outside the reach of my current mental acuity, and it was, after all, just nattering. *chuckles tiredly* Nattering... I thought I was the only person who still used that word... John T
  4. Re: Best Soundtrack for your FH sessions? "The Demon's Whip" is my favorite song by them. John T
  5. Re: Musings on Random Musings Still feels like... I don't know... sending letters out of Phoenix so I can drive 90 miles to Tucson to pick up the responses. But, as David Lo-Pan once said, "You were not put upon this Earth to 'get it', Mr. Burton." Thanks, and sorry (to everyone) for the disruption. John T
  6. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Why can I not sleep tonight? John T
  7. Re: Musings on Random Musings Given that I didn't start reading this thread until recently, didn't bother going back to the beginning of the thread 3900+ posts ago, and didn't realize that the other "Musing" thread WAS actually related to this one until today, no, I didn't take Skaramine's well-intentioned request seriously. A point of curiosity: why create a "response" thread than CAN "legitimately" turn into a flamewar, based on comments in another thread? Sorry, but the logic escapes me. (Rhetorical question) A point of note: I'd gone back and deleted most of my responses as a courtesy, before reading your post, once it dawned on me that he was, in fact, serious. John T
  8. Re: Best Soundtrack for your FH sessions? Another thread I'd've liked to have noticed earlier. Anyway: Unearthed, by E.S. Posthumus. Excellent RPG music for nearly any genre. I've never seen it in stores, but you can find it here, along with some MP3s from the album. One note: the remix of the track "Tikal" does NOT do the original justice, which can be heard as the background music for the trailer of the remake of "The Time Machine". One a related note, "The Time Machine" score, by Klaus Badelt is very good. John T
  9. Re: Musings on Random Musings The thing I'm going to get while the opportunity is available. 'Night, All! John T
  10. Re: Musings on Random Musings As long as he's not on anything ELSE... John T
  11. Re: Musings on Random Musings Lemme guess; you also have Clinging (Only on Non-stick Bandages). John T
  12. Re: Musings on Random Musings It's a gift... besides, all you need to do is save experience and buy it off, right? John T
  13. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I hate being "promoted" from a job I enjoy into the same kind of work that I left behind at my last two jobs... John T
  14. Re: Did you kill Malone? Dude, if you make me sick, I'm gonna barf on your hat. John T
  15. Re: Something Star Hero needs, but hasn't.
  16. Re: Something Star Hero needs, but hasn't. Probably because Hero is more into the system-based nuts and bolts, and traditionally leaves the setting-based nuts and bolts to the tastes of the individual GM. Games like Traveler, Star Wars and Star Trek have extensive campaign settings hardwired into them, and thus already have their techological base in place. Hero, while it does have specific campaign settings, is a more generic system, with books that enhance and define the system as a whole. FWIW John T
  17. Re: What's *your* superpower? What are friends for?: Detect Personality Strengths and Flaws (Sight and Hearing group): RSR - Conversation, Sense, Analyze, Discriminatory. I don't have a sweet tooth, I have a HOT tooth!: Immunity: Hot/Spicy Foods Stop it, you're impressing me to death...: 5d6 Major Mental Transform: Penetrating, Radius, Damage Shield, 0-End, Persistent, Selective Target, Only to remove Psych Lims like Arrogant, Overconfident, Megalomania, etc., RSR - Conversation
  18. Re: The cranky thread Over the past week-and-a-half, I've spent $800 getting work done on my car (about $600 more than I wanted to spend on a car that only needs to last 'til Feb, and about $300 more than I could even afford). Last night at about 11pm it springs a serious coolant leak from f***-only-knows-where. We can't even afford the virtually free vacation we were going to take next weekend, now. I think my next maintenance procedure on this POS will be something akin to parking it on a busy stretch of railroad. John T
  19. Re: What is it about Champions? I've occasionally been the target of hassling (good-natured or otherwise) over my enjoyment of Hero by outspoken proponents of "rules-light" systems. I wait until they (inevitably) pause for breath, and chime in with "Rules-light, brains-light..." and a smile. John T
  20. Re: 6-2 Stun Multiplier Method That's an issue of tactical thinking. Having the Knockback of a Normal attack at my disposal means that A) I probably have more options of what I can punch/blast an opponent INTO, and It'll hurt more when I succeed. One of the reasons BTW that I don't allow Increased Knockback on KAs. John T
  21. Re: Passing Strike (martial maneuver) Unbalanced? Actually, having gone back and re-read the rules for Fmove-component, I'd encourage everyone else on the thread to do the same (UMA, p93), as well as the exact maneuver modifiers (UMA, p9), since there seems to have been some confusion as to what they actually are. FWIW, I still don't have issue with any of the Fmove maneuvers. John T
  22. Re: Passing Strike (martial maneuver) Unbalanced? True, but IIRC all the maneuvers with an Fmove component require a full move to use, which has a minimum distance equal to a half move +1". The 40" leaping brick doesn't have enough space to execute the move, at least not to it's full potential. John T
