  2. Re: Captain America's Shield Actually, it's very simple. When the shield bounces, that's because it's being thrown at something, not having something thrown at it. It can't very well absorb its own kinetic energy - if it did that, it colud never be moved quickly.
  3. Re: Wwycd #119: Kltpzyxm! If this happened to Talion, could he tell the difference between this condition and his regular life?
  4. Re: Super looking for some powers I think some sort of colour changing/chameleon effect would be appropriate.
  5. Re: WWYCD #115: Xerox Paradox...Baby Blues! Shellrider: This could be... extremely bad. In a high-tech enviroment, her younger sisters would be nearly unstoppable spies and covert operatives. She'd shut down the factory by any means possible, get a patent on the cloning and speed-growth processes if possible, hire a number of top biotech researchers and lab techs, and put the factory back into operation, growing organs to order instead of entire humans. As for the clones themselves, she'd ask her parents to legally adopt them, then hire a nanny or two and move them into a "cabin" on the Sunshine Coast so they can have a more nearly normal life, in an environment where their powers can't wreak havoc easily.

    Wwycd #109

Re: Wwycd #109 Shellrider: "No. And if you open it anyway I'll sue you into non-existence." She's fabulously rich on her own, she has no reason at all to go along with something this tacky. Masked Dragon/Lara: Is a film star as MD and heir to a very wealthy family as Lara. In neither case would she be interested. Phoenix: "Talk to Biotechnica's publicity department. if they OK it, I'll think about it." Her "Phoenix" identity is the legal property of Biotechnica - so's her artificial body, for that matter. "Wilma": If she managed to grasp the concepts involved (she's a timelost cave woman, this is a little outside her experience), "No. Wrong worship shaman." Yes, her English is terrible. What do you expect? Her native language is Ursprach. "Red" is an alien, and largely amnesiac. If the concepts were explained clearly enough, she'd probably say yes - though Dave, her self-appointed guardian/handler, might not be so enthusiastic. Serena: "You want to open... Goth Burger." She can always use money, and has no problem with trading on fame, but she's frankly creepy. Her limbs don't seem to be jointed right, she thrives on sour milk, moldy bread, wilted veggies, grey meat, etc., and her main method of operation is spying and psychwar. She is one of the good guys, but she's a very disturbing individual to deal with. Champion Wind: "I was granted my powers to fight the Nightmares, not sell fast food. Go away before Lumo [a winged horse] gets annoyed with you."
  7. Re: Iron Age Philosophies One key ingredient of Iron Age comics *should* be conceptual follow-through. To illustrate that, let me point to the Marvel universe. In the Marvel universe, gravity control is a mature, reliable, established technology. It's used in machines that routinely perform in the most extreme of environments. Yet no emergency vehicles use it, spacecraft are still driven by rockets, aircraft still use jet engines, construction materials are still hoisted into place by cranes, etc. This is a lack of conceptual follow-through. Similarly, the actions of super-beings should have appropriate consequences - if two super-beings duke it out in the middle of a city and does hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of property damage, somebody will get mad at them. Also, morality can be looser (it doesn't have to be, but it can be), and more in shades of grey. Actually, a good model for Iron Age comics would be the early Batman or the more recent animated Batman (but not Batman Beyond).
  8. Re: Gods and Champions It makes more sense if you use the Bible I have: "And the angels of the Lord went unto the daughters of men, and lay with them. And thus were born the giants that were in the Earth in the old days, and among these was Nimrod, who was a mighty hunter before the Lord, wherefore it is said, even as Nimrod was a mighty hunter before the Lord."
  9. Re: WWYCD? #108 (I think)- Clash of the Titans Do the best I can to protect innocents from the fall-out and minimize collateral damage. Otherwise, nothing. If they want to nail each other's hides to wall, I'm not stopping them. Also, use whatever contancts I have to get a force ready to drop in on the winner - whoever wins, they'll be badly weakened.
  10. Re: Building the Animated Justice League Hawkgirl's wings are artificial, I'm pretty well sure. They're for maneuvering, not lift; lift comes her anti-gravitational Nth metal belt. The wings do seem to be part of her, but that only proves that they're either implants or genegineered (or both, they could be created with tissue engineering then attached surgically). And this version of Hawgirl isn't a policewoman; she's a Thanagarian soldier. As for the way her mace ripped through the magical effects in the episode with Dr. Fate, let me point out that the runes were Thanagarian, Icthulu was the original source of much of Thanagar's society, and Hawkgirl's mace seems to be a powerful, partly mystical, Thanagarian weapon; building in effects to specifically counter Icthulu's creatures and effects would probably be considered just sensible. Hawkgirl is presumably an elite trooper of some sort, and expected to stand with superhumans as an equal, which is why she has such a powerful weapon (plot hook! The Thanagarians might not want her back after Starcrossed, but they'll certainly be back for the mace).
  11. Re: WWYCD #94: The Nar Cola endorsement Shellrider: Fabulously rich and has a Secret ID. Besides, nobody's seen her outside of her shell. Lara: Would consider it unbecoming to her social station. As MD, maybe. It depends on how she feels about Nar Cola. Princess Dawn: Doesn't do product endorsements. Blue Fire: Only if she already like Nar Cola. Champion Wind: "My powers are a sacred trust, given to me to fight the Darkness, not to sell soft drinks. Go away."
  12. Re: WWYCD #92 - Zero Sum Shellrider: "First, I have some questions to ask." MD/Lara: "No." Princess Dawn: "Strip all magic from the souls of humanity? Never! The very concept is utterly obscene!" Blue Fire: "That would be unwise; in my experience, Novas as a class do more good than harm." Champion Wind: "We're barely getting started and you're already trying to shut us down? Get stuffed!"
  13. Re: WWYCD #90: Brainwave Masked Dragon: As Masked Dragon, she'd establish herself as an *incredibly* wise sensei. OK, she's more than slightly eccentric, but this is excusable. As Lara, she'd focus on becoming a financial expert and thereby establishing her worth to her family. Princess Dawn: Would go to work logically codifying the laws of magic (OK, she's a bit delusional), and creating more impressive illusions for use in her stage performances.
  14. Re: A Guide To Villainous Motivations GoO = Guardians of Order, who publish SAS = Silver Age Sentinels
  15. Re: What would your character do...#78: It's Good To Be King? One of my characters is almost two different people, and legally is two different people. As Lara, she'd be flabbergasted, but she'd accept and be sure to get advisors she both trusted and respected. This would *not* included the leader of the hero group she's with. Her other self would be basically her paladin. As Masked Dragon, she'd check again and again and again to be sure that this was for real. Being a high powered martial artist and professional entertainer isn't what she considers good preparation for rulership - besides, her lifestyle's just a *wee* bit unusual, and could make the whole "produce an heir" expectation difficult. Hard core lesbians rarely wed guys and have kids. But if it *is* for real, she'd accept and do her best to be a good ruler (and you can lay odds that her first royal act will be to stike down any "indecency" laws still on the books).
  16. Re: What's the difference... Personally, I use a very simple rule: If the character's Disads don't change, it's OHID. If they do, it's Multiform. DF or Reputation can be an exception to this.
  17. Re: What's the Big Difference? Maybe he can manage to take some cash and/or valuables back with him?
  18. In your typical wide-open comic book universe, what (if anything) would your characters do if they learned that a head of state had gained that status by use of black magic? I mean *real* black magic, "deal with the Devil" et. al.
  19. Re: Crisis of Infinite Foxbats Isn't one of him more than enough... ?
  20. Re: What Would Your Character Do? #68 Most of my characters would either be dead, or ignore him. The rest would simply encourage others to flood him with petitions and old grievances to settle until he decides to resign (assuming Megascourge is apt to be an incompetent ruler - if he might be decent, well, "decent" is better than a lot of countries have now).
  21. Phoenix: Now that her body's been modified to be anatomically correct, sure. Unless she's over-ruled by her creators' management team, of course (she's a full-body cyborg, changed by private industry as a publicity piece and technology showcase). Masked Dragon: Considering that she dresses much the same way as Kekko Kamen and fights in the XWF so attired, of course. Her other self (she has Dormancy 5, she's almost two seperate people) would say "No chance." Princess Dawn: A Las Vegas entertainer already, she'd at least consider it seriously, and wolud most likely say yes. Blue Fire: She'd probably say yes. She's not all that shy. Rose: She operates in the 1920s, they didn't have Playboy back then Nightside: Why not? Could be fun, and money's always nice Shellrider: Has a secret ID, and she's already fabulously rich. "Red": She'd say yes. Her boyfriend might persuade her otherwise. "Wilma": A cave girl. She doesn't understand money, photos, or nudity taboos. Get the concpet across and she'd say yes. Gem: Would probably say yes, though the fact that roughly 1/5 of her skin area is covered with jewellery that's been *nailed* into place on her, only a very kinky magazine would be likely to approach her. Liane: She's only 13 I think that's all the superhero types i'm currently playing.
