  1. Is this for a superheroes or heroic setting? A weapon that can morph between the size of a dagger and that of a broadsword is going to cost more points than either single real weapon would normally because it arguably would not qualify for the Accesable part of Focus (It's a sword that is concealable as a Dagger!). It probably shouldn't take Real Weapon either. As a result it's going require an inelegant asymmetric Multipower build. The other option worth exploring would be using Lockout for each individual form (I'm pretty sure this will end up being more expensive than a Multipower though). HM
  2. Here's a character that arguably has such an ability. It could be added to regular senses for a small cost or used in a Clairsentience VPP slot. http://www.herogames.com/forums/files/file/11-clark-kent-6e-400/ HM
  3. I like the Detect approach as it is direct and to the point. However, based on how Shrinking characters are suggested to use EDM to build 'Enter the Microverse'* I would recommend using a Interdimensional Sense Adder approach instead. *First seen in The Ultimate Metamorph and later in one of the APG books. I agree that a high multiple of Microscopic is too expensive for the utility and being a Special Power (like ALL Sensory abilities except Clairsentience) is illegal to be placed within a Framework unless it is part of a Clairsentice build (I would consider this the reverse of applying Megascale to a Sense).
  4. One option would be to go with 'Power Defense' vs. Healing combined with treating ALL Healing as having the Penetrating Advantage vs. this 'Power Defense'. That way a little bit of Healing vs. Body will always occur unless it's a poor roll (1's on the dice). HM
  5. Most if not all of the Silver Age crazy power level stuff Superman pulls off is in his solo books. He even gets 'Worfed' in the JLA stories. The exception might be the Silver Age Legion of Superheroes stories where as Superboy he's not even the strongest member of the team (that would be Mon-El) and much of the action takes place off Earth. One of the best if not THE best interpretations of the character is the one that appears in the Animated Universe that began with Batman: TAS and goes all the way to Batman Beyond. That version of Superman can and did lose fights. It's arguable that his actual powers didn't get stronger in the series but rather his skill with using them 'safely' did. That version of Superman was ALL about his CVK and not becoming a dictator (as he DID while under the mind control of Darkseid after their first encounter) . There were several alternate versions of Superman shown throughout the run of the various shows. Superman: TAS had an alternate reality episode that showed Superman as Luthor's police state enforcer after that world's Lois Lane died. Justice League: TAS had the alternate reality Justice Lords version of the team (based on the Earth 3 Crime Syndicate of America from the comics). That Superman 'crossed the line' when he killed President Luthor using his Heat Vision* to prevent him from pressing the nuclear launch button that his finger was already on (it was stated that lethal force of some kind was the only thing Superman could do fast enough to stop Luthor). This Justice Lord version of Superman traveled to the Justice League Earth and 'lobotomized' Doomsday using Heat Vision between the eyes when he first arrived on Earth (thus saving the 'real' Superman from having his 'fight to the death' from the comics). It wasn't a matter of power level but rather a willingness to make irrevocable decisions that was the difference between the Justice Lord Superman and the Justice League one. This Superman was arguably the most powerful superhero on Earth but he was not the most powerful being. Power level wise he actually was barely above that of the MCU heavy hitters like Thor, Iron Man and Hulk. He was never shown lifting anything bigger than a large sea vessel or 747. What has ticked me off with the DC movies is that they have yet to provide Superman with a stronger opponent that has no association with Krypton (Zod, clone/Doomsday or Kryptonite). Hopefully they'll get Darkseid right. He's too good of a character to just waste on one movie. HM
  6. And it's how I built the physical aspects of Wonder Woman's Lasso: Real world whips are described on pages 14 and 25 of the HSEG (Hero System Equipment Guide). HM
  7. Here's a form fillable character sheet that doesn't require Hero Designer. http://www.herogames.com/forums/files/file/321-form-fillable-6e-character-sheet/ HERO Games → Downloads → HERO System 6th Edition Documents → form fillable 6e character sheet HM
  8. That is an export file for use with the Hero Designer character building software. *This is indicated at the top of that page: HERO Games → Downloads → HERO Designer → Export Formats → 6E HTML The Ultimate Character Sheet by desaturated HM
  9. Stretching with Limitations on how it can be used is probably the best bet. Martial Arts can be used to enhance Grab STR and Damage. HM
  10. Glad you were able to fix it up. Here's the wayback machine link I'd been using as a work around: https://web.archive.org/web/20090618152449/http://www.cellularsmoke.net/rpgs/ml_psychological.php Here's the 6e replacement that is much slower to use: http://masterlistsofcomplications.wikia.com/wiki/Portal:Psychological_Complications HM
  11. It's worth repeating that only 6e1 is completely out of print. There are still 200+ copies of 6e2 still available in print format from the Hero store. http://www.herogames.com/forums/store/product/468-hero-system-6th-edition-combat-and-adventuring-damaged-cover-bookpdf/ HM
  12. A Spotter brings many of the same benefits as an old F14 RIO (Radar Intercept Officer) or F15e WSO (Weapon Systems Officer). They lighten the systems workload for the pilot so they can focus more energy towards actually flying the aircraft in combat situations. HM
  13. Interesting combination. The special effect reminds me of Ghost Rider or Human Torch as a speedster. My first recommendation would be to separate out the individual mechanics as much as possible. Look at the "List" option within Hero Designer (located in the same place as Multipower and VPP) as a possible replacement for using the "Compound Power" option. The "Comet Trail" Ability just seems to have too much stuff stacked on. The END cost of 9 means that the the character would be burning STUN when they moved 6 Phases in a row. The Side Effect Limitation appears to be constructed as if it were an Advantage. Some of the other Multipower slots would be better represented by a Speedster Martial Arts package (the variant I used in both versions of Flash* is one that first appeared in the Ultimate Martial Artist). The Ultimate Speedster is an invaluable resource for building speedsters using 5e rules. Here's a link to a much earlier 5e version of the same famous speedster I posted before. The Multipower works in the same manner as the VPP on the 6e version in that each slot is built on exactly HALF the Active Points of the total Reserve/Pool so that any 2 slots can be active simultaneously. http://killershrike.com/MiscCharacters/Contributions/Hyper-Man/Supers/JLA/The%20Scarlet%20Speedster.html http://killershrike.com/MiscCharacters/Contributions/Hyper-Man/Supers/JLA/The%20Scarlet%20Speedster.hdc HM
  14. Military spotters typically also employ a separate laser range finder to help the sniper with their most important FIRST shot. HM
  15. A sniper operating without a spotter just has more to pay attention to in case their 1st shot misses. If they miss without seeing where their errant shot actually hit they will end up having to guess at what correction(s) if any they need to make to ensure subsequent shots will hit. HM
  16. HERO by default doesn't impose the granular real world penalties that truly long range rifle fire has to deal with (examples include gravity, air friction, cross wind, humidity, air pressure, spin of the earth). From a sniper rifle I created for John Wick (Keanu Reeves). HM
  17. A spotter typically is taking a slightly wider view of the target and as a result has a better chance of seeing where any misses actually hit downrange. This allows them to give very precise corrective advice to the shooter thereby letting them zero in on their target more quickly with fewer shots. HM
  18. http://rpggeek.com/rpgdesigner/14262/dean-shomshak Probably Arcane Adversaries. HM
  19. Who is this Aaron you are referring to? Also, did you read my previous post up thread? HM
  20. I wouldn't even count powers built together in a single Compound Power as "1 Power" when comparing Active Points for the Linked Advantage. Compound Power is primarily a bookkeeping trick used to allow more than 1 power to be placed inside 1 framework slot. In any other situation it is interchangeable withe the "List" feature within Hero Designer (if you are using that software). Here is a link to my version of a famous speedster with defensive powers linked to their running that you can refer to as well. http://www.herogames.com/forums/files/file/59-barry-allen-6e-400/ *An html viewable export of the character is available from the download button on that page (Hero Designer is not required). HM
  21. I have seen Steve make a ruling before stating that if Adjustment Powers are the only reason a character is at Negative Body then the character will spring back to life once the Adjustment effects have stopped. HM
  22. There are no 6e vehicle books. Here are the links to the 5e ones which would require minimal conversions to 6e standards: http://www.herogames.com/forums/store/product/267-hero-system-vehicle-sourcebook-bookpdf/ http://www.herogames.com/forums/store/product/433-the-ultimate-vehicle-pdf/ HM
  23. Well Martial Arts, especially the real world ones, are special effect based. They assume a human shaped bipedal form. HM
  24. Sooner or later that is where the industry is likely headed. To do so without giving away the farm (the Hero System rules) would require a subscription model of some sort that would not be cheap to implement up front. HM
  25. What is your desired result here Hugh? Is it.. To get Derek or Michael to answer CC or FHC specific rules questions? I think it would be more likely for Steve to stop answering rules questions which would be sad. or.. To get Jason to acknowledge that 6e1&2 are 'more' official than CC and FHC? What financial incentive is there for him to do this? I'd love to see 6e1&2 offered in POD format but it's very likely that a profitable price would still be too high for the marketplace. And doing so would undercut the future sales of CC and FHC of which there are considerable printed copies still in stock. HM
