I've been thinking about this one lately. I've narrowed it down to either a S&W M&P 9 or 9c or a hammer-fired pistol like a SIG SP2022 or one of the decocker-only CZ variants that's in the same ballpark size range. ("Compact" for most companies, about Glock 19 size, with a 4-ish inch barrel and a slightly shorter than full sized grip frame.) Though I already have a S&W M&P Shield, so it'd be a second gun. The Shield is flat, but not such a weight-saver given the lower capacity.

One would be considered a "ghost" if there were no people left alive to talk about who was responsible... only fringe players would have been left, who likely was not close enough to him to warrant a round, but did not get a close look at who was doing the shooting.

I think most characters will be severely limited by having at most one RECovery worth of END to use after being Knocked Out.  They can easily Knock themselves Out again by just spending too much END and burning STUN as its replacement.

Hi, I've been a long time fan and off and on player of Hero System for lots of years.  I've recently been obsessed with an idea of running a Hero System game on Roll20 which has me studying JavaScript and 6thed rules and basically tearing my hair out.

How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)?

It's actually my stage name in my band.

What was the first tabletop RPG you played?

    DnD

What was the first tabletop RPG you GMed?

DnD  I actually began as GM

    What are you currently playing/GMing?

I'm currently working hard on creating a very low power, street-level game of Hero System set in Gotham where the players are struggling, bottom level criminals.  I'm trying to implement the Hero System on Roll20 and play this on there.  I may have been too ambitious with this idea.

    Hi to all of you!

How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)?   Always loved Hans Ruedi Giger's art, triple 6 helped me to fulfill the 8 characters rule
What was the first tabletop RPG you played?     AD&D, back to the 1996.
What was the first tabletop RPG you GMed?     Still AD&D, but I prefer being a GM for Cthulhu (d100)
What are you currently playing/GMing? D&D 5th alternating with Champions, both as a player. I'm enthusiast about the Hero system!

How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)?
"Jhaierr" is the name of a character from a fantasy world created by myself and a friend. He is a panther-like warrior prince of the feline humanoid race.
What was the first tabletop RPG you played?
    Middle Earth Role-Playing (MERP)
What was the first tabletop RPG you GMed?
Middle Earth Role-Playing (MERP) - In fact, I began as a GM.
    What are you currently playing/GMing?
Nothing, unfortunately. I was most recently GMing a superhero Champions 6E game online with friends, but I had to put it on hold during my internship and while I finish the last year of grad school.

Yo, I just left Cleveland not too long ago. I ran the Cleveland State University gaming club for a while - you can probably still find some people around that scene. Some really good people out there, though a lot of the local community is more LARP-focused, which is not everyone's thing.

    Also, welcome everybody!

How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)?
"Kesedrith" is a shortened, human-pronouncable version of the name of my dragon alter ego.  Hey, you asked.

What was the first tabletop RPG you played?
My first RPG was the old, original, red-boxed D&D set, back in 1979.  Yep, I'm one of those ancient-timers.

What was the first tabletop RPG you GMed?
The same as above.  I was the first GM, having no clue what to do, for my first gaming group.

    What are you currently playing/GMing?
Nothing.    I moved to the Cleveland, OH area from the Atlanta, GA area about three years ago and haven't had the time to find a group to join up here.  I'm trying to remedy this, so if you're in the Cleveland area.....

I've been a member of the Forum for some time, but Life has kept me away from it for a while.  Not exactly a lurker, but I'm trying to use a return to Champions as a form of recreation to keep my life from driving me nuts...again.

How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)?     It's the name of my most favored and longest running PCs. What was the first tabletop RPG you played?     The first formal RPG was the 1976 boxed version of D&D...which grew out of the Chainmail game. What was the first tabletop RPG you GMed?     The same...the guys I gamed with didn't quite understand the system so it fell to me to hash it iver and run some sessions. What are you currently playing/GMing?     Currently I'm trying to go back over all my records of my original Champions game (1981 w/a 1st edition Champions set to mid 1990's w/ much house-ruled 5th edition).  I hope to clean up the past concepts and dream about running a much better planned campaign in the Tacoma, WA area eventually.

At a local gun show I saw the perfect weapon for a 1890 s character with at least 1 level of growth. It is a scaled up by 60% sharps rifle instead of 50 caliber is 80 caliber. It fires a 1400 grain bullet at 1250 feet per second and the entire thing is amazing to see. I think I worked out it does has 4860 or something like that foot pounds of energy but those velocities it's not energy that does the work its momentum. I thought I had a picture that captured the full size of it but I didn't. It is probably at least 5 feet long and the length of pull must be 18 to 20 inches. The barrel is made from a 20mms cannon barrel...

Most if not all of my gun knowledge is from watching a lot of movies, History Channel and reading a lot of RPG books*. I did a LOT of research for the guns used by Wick in the movie. For example. The HK P30L 9mm used by Wick as his primary weapon is one of the most expensive 9mm pistols there is (~$1000).  There are other 9mm pistols that have more bullet capacity (Several bad guys use a Glock 17 with 17 round magazines for example) that are far less expensive.  The HK is extremely over-engineered and ergonomic (the grips can be setup in 27 different ways!).  Unlike many assassins, his martial art skills (Judo) are not primarily used as something to fall back on when guns aren't available (he was rather mediocre when fighting straight HTH with ground fighting being the exception). Rather, his Judo is used to help make his gunplay more efficient (a prone opponent is one less opponent to worry about shooting back and is far easier to make a headshot against).

re: 20 STR in a heroic setting

I understand yours is a house rule but even 3e Justice Inc notes that characteristics of 20 were just the point at which the cost doubled to increase beyond (ex: a 23 STR costs 16 points).  5e Champions and 6e HERO later codifies 30 as the 'real' upper limit for normal characteristics (edited 2/25/17).

You should fix that.... you're too good a GM to be doing nothing.

My handle .... goes back to the days before the Web, into the territory of IRC, and the exact nature of how it came to be are lost to the mists of unreliable narrators.

First RPG; D&D Basic Red Box somewhere in the mid 80s.
First RPG GM'd: a short lived CP2020 game, I don't GM often, perhaps once a decade.

Currently Playing: A Hero-based Necessary Evil campaign (character is the resident brick) [run by BigDamnHero]; An Edge Of The Empire SW game (playing a Bounty Hunter w/ mad piloting skills, emphasis on mad); A Hero Fantasy campaign (playing the groups moral center... er, Paladin) [run by TehBunneh]

Well, the funny thing is Baba Yaga is NOT the Russian translation of Boogyman.  I think the writers figured that it sounded cool and the few folks who were familiar with the term, spoke Russian or decided to google search it wouldn't really care.  And in the scene where it is first used it's used both ways.

This is me interrupting an amazing thread based on high-level Hero System mastery just to drop this tiny, little non-Hero correction:

John Wick is not the Baba Yaga.

"John Wick is not the Baba Yaga.  He is the guy you hire to kill the Baba Yaga."

it is one of my favorite lines of the movie.

But seriously, I'd probably wind up getting a Sig P320 or Beretta. I'd get a Glock but they don't fit my hand well. An FNS-9 or HK P30 are options but I have never held one.

I'm a lot less picky about caliber than many. I'd be okay with either 9mm or .40. I don't care for .45 primarily for capacity reasons.

Regardless, I'd be sure to spend the money for good magazines and night sights.

I would lean really hard towards A springfield Armory XD, possibly the XDs with the 4 inch barrel.   I actually like the .45 acp a lot, partially because I already have one, but either 9mm or .40 are good.   .40 may be the best overall balance, but due to the higher pressure, both have a sharper report than a .45, which "booms" more than Cracks, in my opinion.   A good .357 magnum is almost always a good choice, the .38 spl is about the level most people can handle easily. (The Ruger LCR is sweet), One that is a little longer, but I want one is the Ruger SP101 in .327 Federal with the 4" barrel.  Not quite as good for concealment, heavier, but...    One that might work for some people is the Keltec PMR-30  It is fairly small, quite light, and holds 30 rounds of .22 magnum. Some of the modern loads seem to behave similarly to a .38 spl in gelatin pen and expansion, and recoil should be very tolerable.   http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/08/jeremy-s/gun-review-kel-tec-pmr-30/

I corresponded with Killer Shrike a couple of months back over at rpg.net. I was inquisitive about FATE and he pointed me to his Pathfinder Fate Accelerated hack. As with all things Killer Shrike, he put a lot of creative energy and heart into fleshing out FAE into a really awesome resource. I got the impression that KS was a little burnt on Hero and was taking a break. He never explicitly stated as much, but context clues and all.

I know I harp on it a lot, but this is typical tv writing, and by that I mean you should forget what was established in previous episodes and just enjoy what you see each week in narrative isolation. After all, that's basically what the writers are doing.
