  1. Re: Essentials I went with Equipment, Bestiary, and Powers. I got Equipment and Bestiary in PDF form. I really like the Equipment guide. It looks like it will push my character creation up a notch or two. Bestiary does look interesting and useful though not as immediately useful for my purposes as Equipment, but when or if I ever get to running games, I think it will prove to be a gold mine. I accidentally ordered the hard copy of Powers; so, I haven't had a chance to see it yet, but based on Equipment and Martial Arts, I expect it to be supremely useful for character and campaign creation.
  2. Re: Making a Invisible Power more Invisble. For the invisible invisibility, I think you are right unless he is thinking of porting his communications through an extra-dimension (which seems inappropriate for most cyber-punk settings), but then, those that can detect disruptions in the time-space continuum would be able to detect the rupture and could possibly create a space-time receiver, and of course, there can no way of knowing what kind of beings exist in the continuity the signal is being transmitted through. As far as breaking the system, what matters is, does his actions disrupt the balance of your individual game? Which is what matters most. If so, as GM you can disallow it by executive fiat. If not, then roll with it, but in my opinion, I would not allow his VPP and communication powers in a cyberpunk game. Maybe, in supers or science fantasy, but not in cyberpunk.
  3. Re: Social Club of Outstanding Adventurers (or some less absurd) For cowboys, there were a number of John Wayne, Roy Rogers, and Gene Autry movies set in modern (for the times). Many areas of the west was still fairly wild. Remember, that was the time when city dwellers was first starting to outnumber country dwellers in America.
  4. Re: 4th String Villians Yeah! Most of those villains from the Hostess ads that were in most comics in the 70s.
  5. Re: Cassandra's Corner I would like to see a group membership done in the way of bases, vehicles, and such. Maybe, with different levels such as full membership, reserve membership, and honorary membership having separate values.
  6. Re: Famous Martial Artists in the Champions Universe? In a world where supers are common, I don't see any reason not to raise some real life people to super level. So, why not have Bruce Lee as a super martial artist?
  7. Re: The Crimson Aura Arc, I like the costume design, but she is an Asiatic looking alien female.
  8. Re: Hunter's Eye Perhaps, take the Analyze skill as Analyze Monster Signs, or bonus Perception with limitation of working only on monster signs.

He came up in a large family to encouraged achievement. For Myron, that included a natural capacity to pick up languages. Whether is was French, Spanish, or Latin in school or picking up Greek and Hebrew by reading his family's Bible concordance. Wanting to go to college for linguistics but not having the money, Myron would enlisted in the U.S. Navy as language specialist where he specialized in oriental languages and was employed monitoring North Korean and Chinese transmissions around the Naval base in Japan. While in Japan he learned a great deal about Japanese culture and even mastered Karate. One day while strolling along the sea side while off duty a giant interdimensional squid-like monster the Japanese called Shokushu started causing havoc off the coast of Japan. Seeing the monster menacing a young Japanese family, Myron bravely tried to distract the monster and was captured in one of its tentacles. Before the monster had the chance to eat Myron, the Japanese super hero Takamare showed up to rescue Myron and defeat the monster. Though saved, Myron was exposed to radiation and developed radiation poisoning. The Navy decided to give Myron an honorable discharge for medical reasons but insisted on holding him until he was sufficiently recovered. Eventually he discovered he had developed the ability to turn invisible. He put together a hasty disguise and started patrolling the Japanese streets fighting crime as Mister Invisible. After being released from medical evaluation and while waiting to be shipped home, a race of Asian looking aliens called the Atagarians attacked the south Pacific causing heroes from many of the surrounding nations to band together under the New Zealander hero Emerald Defender to fight off the threat. Mister Invisible quickly volunteered. Though inexperienced, his bravery, intellect, and power made him useful for scouting and espionage missions. However, he would eventually be captured and placed under an Atagarian mind probe, but he would eventually be rescued by the Emerald Guardian and once again by Takamare. Shortly after the Atagarian Invasion, Myron was at last shipped back to the states and made a civilian. He used his G.I. Bill to go to college where he took a hiatus from heroing. Once graduated, he returned to Freedomsburg moved in with his grandmother in Hardtown and went to work for Truepenny, Inc as a Japanese liaison for the company. He also revised his Mister Invisible guise and started patrolling Hardtown. While interacting with a telepathic hero, Mister Invisible discovered he had an increase resistance to mental powers while invisible.
  10. Re: Blip (I'm running into a wall for complications I'm actually new to the system; so, don't count my interpretations as being authoritative, but based on the images you are choosing, it seems that you are going for a street angel approach. Probably either comes from a rough background or otherwise associated with the wrong side of the street. If she is a teacher, social worker, street cop, or something else, she may have complications associated with being over exposed to the shallower side of the pool. She could have flashbacks to seeing some kind of injustice that occurred before she developed her powers. She could have associated hatreds and phobias from her flashbacks. She could have grittier code of justice, or she could be dedicated to being a counter-rolemodel to the thugs and punks that would normally inhabit her environment.
  11. Re: Blip (I'm running into a wall for complications If I interpret things correctly, this is teleport/speedster/martial artist. What if if she had a vulnerability to inner ear attacks (vertigo) that caused her to powers to work erratically? Which of suggests an archenemy with that very ability. Also, knowing her backstory would be helpful. What are her motivations for being a hero? What are her personality traits? As far images, I kind of like the red head with the glowing hand.
  12. Re: Have you written a story? Actually, I have been doing the opposite. I have series of unpublished (and mostly unfinished) short stories that I have written and have been trying to convert into Champions. So far, I have not had any new characters spring up by playing with character creation, but by putting some of my characters into Champions format, I have come up with plot elements that helped fill some story holes I have been struggling. As an example, I have a team of street level supers called the Regulators made up mostly of sidekick potentialists and wannabes, but I have been struggling with their origin. Then I decided to write one of the characters named Asinine, wears a donkey mask and has a large red number 9 on his chest. He is my resident jerk and wise-acre. When I was trying to figure out what his PS would be, the only thing that came to mind was circus jerk. The world is written as modern with an older feel; so, traveling circuses didn't make sense, but then, I was thinking about something I read about Circus de Soleil and realized that many of the Regulators had backgrounds that would work in that kind of setting; so, I decided that my resident city had a Circus de Soleil style attraction called the Carnival Spectacular and the founding regulators were circus performers doing good deeds. That also helped spur a name change for my city, Freedom City which I didn't like. My chief hero is Captain Spectacular and with the circus name, I wanted spectacular worked into the name or nickname somewhere, and after a few iterations, I have Freedomsburg, the Spectacular City.
  13. Re: Fish-Men You may be able to find your Polynesian shark god here http://www.pantheon.org/areas/mythology/oceania/polynesian/. I'd help further but I have to go.
  14. Re: On boar Holographical computer/HUD I'll be darned. I had assumed that deer were bovines. It's a good thing I don't do this for living.
  15. Re: Fish-Men If the character started with good motivations before the process, there is no reason why his motivation has to change after the process. As far as most sharkmen being evil, start him with a negative reputation due and play him as the misunderstood hero.
  16. Re: Fish-Men The change could be an unexpected attribute of the experiment. If the character was undergoing the experiment so he could be a boon to humanity, then there is no reason his motives would change, or you could have him out strolling someday, save some victim in distress, like the feeling it gives him, and decided to keep at it.
  17. Re: On boar Holographical computer/HUD Of course, once we have porcine HUD technology perfected, we will need to expand upward and work on bovine HUD technology to give a chance for the deer and antelope to play.
  18. I've defined a character as a natural linguist. I decided that he taught himself Greek and Hebrew from his parents' concordance, 1 point in Greek and 1 point in Hebrew. With the Linguist perk, that gives him Greek 2 and Hebrew 2. Later on, he decides to learn a little Arabic for 1 point plus 1 for Linguist and 1 for being similar, Arabic 3. It doesn't seem right that a language picked up later would be better than one picked up earlier. What am I getting wrong here?
  19. I am designing a character called the Crimson Aura who is a knock off of Green Lantern, and I have a few questions regarding how to build a Green Lantern style character. I figure that Telekinesis is a visible effect is a gimme, but how do you do projectable force fields and the various constructs?
  20. Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! I was actually thinking doing something similar to Badger's idea; except, I was going to use Helios rather than Apollo, but I didn't want to take the last one. I just made up this team, and I thought it would be piggish of me to make up to in a row.
  21. Re: Help with Golden Age scenario If you are playing it for laughs and want use the Thing from the Future concept. What if the heroes land on the island and discover a "primitive" culture regularly using technology that is beyond the rest of the world's Maybe, they walk around with cellphones and watch TV all day. You could then turn it into a parody of modern life.
  22. Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! Star Strider is a psychic vampire who feeds off of the fear he produces from hallucinations caused by the Star Stone which receives its power from direct exposure to star light. New Team: Days of Destruction Team Number: 7 A thematic villain team with each member symobolizing a different day of the week.
  23. Re: 6th ED - play or not to play (and what I need to do it) I've used the hero store to buy mine. I don't have any complaints. So far, I have only bought PDFs though. I'm a bit cheap, and the likelihood of finding a table top game in my vicinity is next to nil. If I am ever going to play, I will have to find an email or message board game, and using the PDFs at my computer is much easier than using hard copy anyway. If I do ever get into a tabletop game, I would probably just print out the info I would need.
  24. Re: Essentials Based on recommendation and personal interests, I like gadgeteers; so the equipment guide is a gimme. For the second, I would go with the powers book. As a new player, power builds can be someone confusing, and some short cuts would handy. If I go with a third, APG makes a lot of sense as I see a lot of folks refer to it, but I think the bestiary is definitely fourth on my list. What's a traditional comic book series without the occasional use zoo or circus animals running amok.
