  1. Re: Day Of The Turkey 2011 I'm just trying to envision all the jokes being make at Kodiak's (and Shadowstrike's) expense about finally finding a turkey big enough to satisfy their appetites... ;D (note: neither has a 'speedster metabolism' styled disad/complication, but both have reputations amongst their friends for 'hearty' appetites)
  2. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine That would have been Hermit...
  3. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Still waiting on the GM's response. Under the circumstances, I'm pretty sure I've gotten his attention...
  4. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... I don't really like to post my own character quotes, but I don't usually use PRE attacks quite this much and the scenario just demands them given the character and the scenario. More to the point, the die roller on Hero Central seems to agree... I'm playing Sunhawk, an avatar of Horus. The group is facing Loki, and part of his scheme includes a stolen Egyptian scroll... The die roller's contributions:
  5. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine Darn, but I've repped you too recently. Fabrica has either added to the capes, I missed something, or did you 'shop that?
  6. Re: Red Patriot - Russian Teen Champion (Icons Earth) Given the costume, and the stated ability to use her sex-appeal, I would stick with my earlier flip response -- though make the argument more seriously. Dredging back into memory (probably 80s), Wolverine and Rogue were on the run without powers (one of the Genosha storylines iirc) and Carol Danver's personality was running Rogue. In one particular sequence, the pair were in a bar and Carol/Rogue was wearing some sexy mini-dress and deliberately drawing every eye in the place while Wolverine mused that while everyone would remember her no one would recall anything usefully specific to identify their being there (and how Rogue wouldn't have been able to pull that trick off)... Unless Tasha acts and dresses the same in both identities, people are going to 'remember' her -- but as that really hot super, not as somebody they just ran into in the hall at school..
  7. Re: Red Patriot - Russian Teen Champion (Icons Earth) I believe the stock response here is: 'she has a face?'

    Reality Storm/SAS

Re: Reality Storm/SAS Thank you. That may not give me a hard and fast answer, but it does give me enough background to base my own tweaks/interpretation on.
  9. Re: America Woman - Sexy Superheroine (Icons Earth) OK, I'm amused by 'pregnancy control'... Only tweak I can think of at first glance is on the +1 Striking Appearance requirement for her unconscious release of pheromones. I'd be tempted to expand that slightly to include high PRE (maybe 18+) or higher, but that would depend on how you view SA 'in setting' and mechanically.
  10. Re: Effects of "Heightened Libido"? Making the long term solution being finding her perfect mate. Of course, if said 'perfect mate' didn't match her internal idealized vision, this could lead to all sorts of other difficulties... (well, or finding some sort of inner peace, but where's the dynamic tension in that... ;D)
  11. I'm inflicting Reality Storm on some of my players and converting the SAS chars to 6e, and my detail obsessed mind has come upon a question. Red Phoenix's powers (with the exception of her sword and armor) are bought IIF -- with no other details. For anyone who might have SAS, does her full writeup include just what the IIF might be? (And if so, what is it? Please?)
  12. Re: Effects of "Heightened Libido"? Hmmm, depending on your game and the direction things might go, you can always throw the animalistic psychopath with enhanced senses at her at some point. Someone who can match her hand to hand... "You're turned on by this, ain't cha. I can smell it on you..." If the specific nature of her 'issue' isn't already known (to herself/others), this will certainly throw it in everyone's faces...
  13. Re: Effects of "Heightened Libido"? That's actually pretty easy, given her powers (and the resulting libido) resulted from her origin. Her feelings and personal morality would have already been established - which would explain her frustrations... Wanting something you feel you have to suppress, because it runs counter to your basic personality/beliefs, is bound to make someone edgy at best. I imagine it would be something she would learn to deal with over time, one way or another...
  14. Re: Effects of "Heightened Libido"? Well, the most obvious hook is for her to develop an attraction towards one of the characters. The potential complications being either it's toward a character that she has to be worried about 'hurting' if she gives in to her feelings of desire, or with a character who isn't interested in her for any number of possible reasons. The big question being how much soap opera do you want to have. A possible variation is for the press/general rumor (whatever) to assume a relationship between her and a PC, regardless of how they might feel about one another.
  15. Re: New Protectors Rising! (Bay City Campaign idea) Well, poor Flurry seems to be stoned at the moment. In the literal sense. Renegade is less than pleased about this, since he was with her when it happened... The team has split into two. One group (Renegade, Wildstorm, Solar Knight and Flurry) has stayed at the base to keep an eye on the one piece of Jade we've found ourselves guardians of. The second group (Starwatch, Mimic, Olympian and Nightowl) went to meet with the father of the youngster Wildstorm encountered at the skateboard tournament, who may well have another of the Jade Shards which have become the focus of everyone's attention. The Shards are apparently part of something called the Jade Mirror of Transcedence, and they're being sought by Yin Wu. At this point, we seem to have acquired a second shard and defeated four of the Sons of Wu. Iron Whirlwind and Silver Hand (plus some minions) attacked the first group on at the Citadel -- Flurry was transformed into a statue during the initial attack. Copper Spear and Brass Bow (plus some minions) attempted to acquire the piece of the Mirror in Mr Chin's care. Mimic managed to escape with the Shard (to the annoyance of Golden Axe), while the others dealt with the more obvious threat...
  16. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Uhm, a .357 air rifle capable of pushing 175gr slugs at 800fps? Yeah, that ain't your standard .22 plinker.
  17. Re: If Foxbat is like an evil Batman... ok -- I just envisioned the Penguins from Madagascar fighting Foxbat... My brain itches now...
  18. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... The dice liked my reply anyhow... Sunhawk (avatar of Horus, me) and Dr Sanguine (supermage) are traveling through the Lands of Legend when we are ambushed by a group of tengu bent on mischief... Tengu: Dr Sanguine attempts reason, but the tengu are clearly not interested in being reasonable... Sunhawk: The judgement of the dice: Now we wait to see how the GM feels about the whole thing...
  19. Re: Powers for a Time Manipulating “Speedster” I gave her high DEX in her original 5e version, but I replaced it with Lightning Reflexes in 6e. I also used Rapid Attack, Additional DCV, and Defense Manuever I-IV with the 'Costs END' Limitation to represent the ability to briefly step outside of time and reset herself appropriately. Her Combat Luck is built with the same SFX.
  20. Re: Powers for a Time Manipulating “Speedster” I built a character more-or-less on this premise a while back. I used the T-port w/must cross intervening distance (The Limitation does not specifically preclude vertical movement, but based on SFX I defined it as there being a requirement that she must be able to reach wherever was going by physically traversing the distance with her 'normal' movement) and included some Overall Levels to simulate extra time for skills. I gave her a +4d6 HA to represent a 0-time Haymaker, and a Naked Advantage AOE - Any Area on her STR to represent the ability to effect multiple opponents. I'm attaching her current 6e build. I'll also note that she's an NPC in my Loose Ends campaign (and Heroes of Hudson City before that) on Hero Central.
  21. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine My newest PC for winterhawk's Champions Unlimited campaign on Hero Central.... Sunhawk... (He's really not comfortable with the whole 'avatar' thing so he's not about to call himself Horus...)
  22. Re: Ok GM's weigh in. We've been talking players CvK...how do you handle these things I think we're probably roughly on the same page in how we play characters. I don't, personally, see the need to put CvK on my sheet to play a superhero like a superhero. And I don't see how I can claim I've got a CvK when I'm willing to use potentially lethal force knowing (as a player) that the fall of the dice may result in my target taking serious damage -- and that certainly colors my viewpoint as a GM as well. That's me, other players certainly may feel differently. As a GM, I tend to avoid any Complication or Disad where I have to spend significant time making sure both I and the player understand exactly what it is supposed to mean... In the case of a CvK, does it apply only to the character's actions? Or can I expect the PC to try and stop a police sniper from dropping a robber or terrorist to keep them from killing their hostage? Does it apply only to humans? To anything sentient? To anything which can be defined as living, however loosely? Most importantly: am I, the PC, and the other members of the group going to have fun playing the game when the situation comes up? (Though I'll note I can deal with Supes' having a Total CvK more than Bats. Supes has the power, speed and senses to keep anyone from getting hurt in the fallout of pretty much even a full-up superbrawl. Bats on the other hand, who was supposedly so traumatized by the death of his family that he took up a mask and hunts down criminals, is willing to let the Joker continue making orphans of who knows how many other children because he isn't willing to even permanently cripple the SOB?!?)
  23. Re: Ok GM's weigh in. We've been talking players CvK...how do you handle these things If you're intelligent enough to recognize that you're deliberately placing yourself in situations where you will be using abilities that can cause lethal harm, and you are unwilling to place the lives of others in jeopardy, then you have no business deliberately being in that situation. If you're playing a game where nobody really gets hurt, there's no point in a CvK because nobody will ever die. I have no problem with that kind of game, and have run and played in them. Taking a CvK is cheesy though. If you're in a more 'realistic' game, any time you've got a superbattle going, there's going to be good odds somebody is going to get hurt and/or killed. Stuff gets blowed up. Buildings get smashed and trashed. Cars get tossed about willy-nilly (sometimes while still occupied). And those mega-super-power blasts? Any shot that misses Dr Megasuperinvulnerable is going to hit something -- and if it's Muffy walking her toy poodle, both are going to vanish in a poof of brightly glowing vapor. Just how long can you reasonably expect a 'hero' with a CvK to continue donning tights knowing nearly any battle against evil is going to result in blood on the ground -- and that they are liable to be at least partially (if not directly) responsible for some of it?
  24. Re: Ok GM's weigh in. We've been talking players CvK...how do you handle these things Oh, it's a valid scenario. It's the comic book version of human shields. But the only reason to do the scenario in a game is to trick the heroes into accidentally killing an innocent.
